What do you do with 3 days left on child's park hopper - no expiration, when child ages out?

I have seen posted on here that as long as the child is pretty obviously the owner of the ticket (ex. My 35-yr-old DH couldnt get away with using a childs ticket bought 2 yrs ago, but my 11 yr old could use his), that you can take the ticket to guest relations and be given an adult ticket for the same # of days for that child...or that the child can still use it? Or both?

We were sent comp 1 day PH passes for an "incident" we had at WDW in 2004. My son was 9-1/2 at the time and when the rep saw this, she said she would send an adult ticket, as we would not be back before he turned 10. And she did.

Basically, the buzz on this is that Disney does not penalize you for getting older. So if you bought your 8 yr old a ticket 3 years ago and they had days left, they should still be entitled to those days at age 11. :teeth:

I know the experts on here can let you know specifically how to handle this with Disney. :)

In the past it carried over. They would simply swap it out for an adult ticket as long as it was for the same person. I've heard different versions the last couple of years from the same approach to charging the difference. Overall it appears most people have simply been able to exchange the ticket for no additional cost.

I've done the free switch up---it's great! I called Disney to confirm before we left on the trip (really, it sounded too good to be true, but they confirmed it).

However, when I did do it (at the guest relastions inside Epcot) they tried to charge me in the end. However, I held firm, saying no, Disney said it was free, and whoever it was got someone to help him and we were set. In hindsight I believe the people outside the gates are more familiar with this transaction. Or go to DTD---they are the best!

I've heard it's best to bring the child with you so they can look and see that the ages make sense.

Enjoy! :sunny:
