Hi all

Well it's coming to that time again and we will soon be flying back to florida. This time we have booked to stay in the Hilton at Clearwater for a couple of nights. Weve never been there before, has anyone got any suggestions of what we can do to make the best of our stay in Clearwater.

:) :) TONS of stuff to do in and around Clearwater. Sorry is preaching to the converted if you've been before - and do you have children etc?

If you've not had enough of the parks, there's always Busch Gardens, 45 mins up the road past Tampa, and if you love Water parks (all depending on when you're going), BG's sister park Adventure Island is great (we thought it better than Typhoon Lagoon:) ).

If you like being on the water, try the largest speedboat - The Screamer - which goes from Clearwater; or one of the many dolphin cruises. Our fave is on a yacht from St Pete's (25 mins down the road) - beautiful and you can either snorkel or go shelling on a deserted island. Heaven:D

Another beautiful trip is to Honeymoon or Caledesi islands, stunning.

Clearwater Pier area is ok, sometimes things going on around there; loads of little touristy shops. Try a trolley visit from Clearwater out to Sand Key, one of the best beaches in the US; just driving up and down the little barrier islands from Clearwater to St Petes is fun, on the way is the Sun Coast Seabird sanctuary (donations only, no charge).

I could go on and on . . . . .

Let me know if there's anything else you think of:D

Hi,

Like Annie said there is LOADS to do around Clearwater.

Our fave place is definitely, without a doubt Honeymoon and Caladesi Islands - they are beautiful.

We took the really nice boat ride over to Caladesi, during the boat ride we saw lots of dolphins bow-riding and it was a memorable experience. The boat trip lasts about 15 minutes and is great fun, it departs from Honeymoon Island frequently.
Caladesi Island has a BEAUTIFUL white sandy beach with dolphins usually swimming fairly close to the coast.

Caladesi has a small shop and a food counter plus changing facilties and toilets.

Honeymoon Island is accesed via a bridge and it costs about $10 for parking there for the day. Honeymoon has great rock pooling and you can see tons of great sea life.

Honeymoon and Caladesi are only a short drive away from Clearwater.

Clearwater itself was also nice, but we founf the Traffic a NIGHTMARE, hopefully it was just because we visited during peak tourist time.

Richard.
