3 days before, SICK--help!

The thing that works for my kids are, humidifier/propping the pillow/saline nose spray/honey for throat. For me its Afrin and benedryl at night. Keep the airways clear is key.

I take zinc lozenges at the first sign of a cold. For me, it reduces the length and severity of a cold. Also, sleeping a lot is indispensable.

It's too late now but, whenever I start to feel I am getting a cold, I immediately mix 1 teaspoon honey with 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon. Take 2x a day. I give it to my kids too and they tolerate it. It is said to lesson the life of your cold if taken right away because both have antibacterial or antiviral properties. Since using this last winter, I have only felt cold symptoms for a few days and nothing bad. Just sneezing and stuffy head. I hope you feel better now!

I was confused when I read it at first too. But i think that was a typo, im guessing she meant OTC MEDS (over the counter meds). Avoid it for now, but take it while at wdw if needed. I believe thats what she meant.
Yes! Lol, gotta love auto-correct.

Well, hopefully you are feeling better and are on your way to Disney!! One thing I was going to suggest is to try using Vick's Vapo-Rub on your chest. It really helps clear up my sinuses and general congestion. My mom always used it when we were kids. I am not sure if it's the medical effects or the childhood memories, but it always makes me feel better!

:duck:I know folks will bash me, but I'm going to add a caveat here regarding echinacea/golden seal. :duck:PLEASE be very careful with these products. I didn't know before taking these, but a percentage of people are actually allergic to golden seal. I experienced heart palpitations to the point of passing out. Both my primary care physician and my allergist knew right away what was happening, but it took almost two years for the episodes of palpitation to stop. I'm not saying natural products and homeopathy are worthless... I'm just saying, be careful with them. Prescribed drugs all come with a list of adverse effects; natural products should, also.

Hope the trip went well! I've been sick on many a WDW trip, but still managed to have a great time. Hope you did too!

I flush out my sinuses with saline. Takes a bit to get use to. For me it is better than taking meds that mask symptoms but don't really help you recover quickly.

It seems like someone always gets sick either before or during our trips! My brother swears by "Emergen C" Its that packet of orange powder you mix with water. I took it last time I got sick at Disney and it did absolute wonders. Last trip every person in our party got some sort of stomach bug. I started taking the EmergenC when the other got sick and then for three days after. I only got a yucky stomach ache one day; theirs was much worse.

We leave on Friday morning and I woke up with feelings of a cold this morning...little bit of a sore throat and stuffy nose. I went to Wal-Mart and bought some Zicam. Fingers crossed! :sad2:
