Hi,

I am considering taking a three day cruise in May. I would be travelling with a 2 1/2 year old.

Can anyone give me any feedback on the three day cruise. Is it worth it? Will our 2 1/2 year old enjoy herself? This is my first time taking a cruise so any information you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Mickey!

We did the 3 day cruise this past October. Was it worth it? Absolutely!!! Did I end up desperately wishing it had been longer? Yes. We have a 3yo ds and a 5yo dd. We did the land/sea vacation and if we had it to do over again we would skip the land part and just do the sea. The kids had as much fun if not more on the boat and my dh and I had much more fun on the boat.

As far as taking a 2 1/2 yo well...to be honest I might try to hold out a few months until he is 3 and potty trained. The kids can't go into the kids clubs until they are 3 years old. The kids clubs are free and they have some really neat activities for the little ones (dancing with Snow White, bedtime stories with Mother Goose, a treasure hunt with Flounder). We really thought we'd only take the kids to the club for specific activities and then pick them up when they were done. The kids had such a great time in the clubs though that we ended up leaving them there more than we expected. They never wanted to leave with us!

A child younger than 3 would go to Flounders if you wanted any time alone (like to go to Palos - the adults only restaurant that is fabulous!) Flounders costs money and from what I understand is really geared more towards smaller children. It's basically a babysitting service.

Perhaps if you waited a few months until the child was 3 you could go on a longer cruise and be able to take advantage of the kids clubs?

Yes, it is worth it. But there is a lot to do in a short period of time. On our first cruise we got off the ship in Nassua. The second time we stayed on and enjoyed the ship. Unless you really want to see Nassua, I would suggest not getting off. Just stay on board and enjoy all that the ship has to offer.

Also, read over the 3 day navigators on Barb's website. Then you and 'plan ahead' for what you want to do.

You will simply love it, and will want to go back again.
Have a great time!
