I am not sure what they are called but I have read in a couple of reviews that some restaurants are offering 3 course meals with the dinning plan,LeCelliar I know, I have read, where you get a choice of a selected appy, selected entree, and selected dessert, does anyone have any more detailed info where this may be offered? Would  love to know:)

Could you have been reading an older review? The Dining Plan used to include a drink, appetizer, entree, and dessert. They did away with the appetizer a little while ago.

Le Cellier is the only one I've heard of offering this "special" that can be used the the DDP right now. I'm hoping they still have it next month when I'm there.

The only restaurants I've heard of doing the three course meals are Chefs de France and Le Cellier. The one at Chefs is not allowed on the DDP -- but you can order the same entree and dessert on the DDP (and your beverage is included), then just pay OOP for the soup.

People are reporting that you can use the DDP for the one at LC, but the choices are limited, not one of the entrees I want to try -- so we'll just order the entree, dessert, and beverage allowed on the DDP (so we can get the entrees we want) and then pay OOP for the cheddar cheese soup, since we've been told it's a must-try there :thumbsup2

First-hand experience with LeCellier. We just returned from a Dtrip and used the regular dining plan. At LeCellier, I was able to order the three-course meal and use my 1 TS credit.

Here's what they offer for the three-course meal (taken directly from the LeCellier menu which I have a copy of ;) ):

“Our Chefs have chosen a few of their favorites so you can enjoy a truly exceptional LeCellier experience. Choose one from each category. No substitutions.” $36.99

Appetizers
Mixed Field Greens
Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup
Spicy Chicken and Chipotle Sausage

Entrees
Pan-seared King Salmon
Herb-crusted Prime Rib
Porcini Mushroom Ravioli
Mustard-basted All Natural Chicken

Desserts
Maple Crème Brulee
Canadian Chocolate Moose
Seasonal Sorbet

It fit perfectly for me because I was going to pay for the soup so it was a little savings!

I really like this idea and will be trying it when we're there next week. I was so bummed when the appetizers were eliminated so this fixes the problem for me. :thumbsup2

Current reports is that the only restaurant presenting such an offering (and including the offer on the dining plan) is Le Cellier.

They are offering both lunches and dinners.

The appetizers are apparently included no matter how you pay - but you get to select only among the cheapest appetizers and the cheapest entrees - and probably the cheapest desserts as well.

They are reportly called pilot menus.

In essence it is designed to streamline TS menus and seating time of guest so they can rapidly serve you prepared food like a CS restaurant and get you out quick so they can serve more guest. In essence Disney needs more TS restaurants to meet the increase demands of the various dining plans. This concept might work since they have a large new TS dining population who have a different focus and perspective of the TS experience.

If their well received you can expect greater changes to TS restaurant menus and experience as they evolve to operate more like a sit down CS restaurant.

It's going to work because many regular dining plan users will gladly restrict themselves to less expensive entrees if it means they can feel as though the appetizer is "included". That will help Disney keep its costs associated with the dining plan down if fewer dining plan users order the most expensive items on the menus.

The question I would have is whether Disney intends to keep better (i.e. more expensive) items on their menus at all if the majority of diners are happy with the set menus.

I perceive a shift in dining priorities within Disney management trying to make their parks run like their cruise line. They most likely won't build more restauants and in the last years they have forced as many table as possible into the floor space of their TS restaurants. They will migrate to fixed-limited menus with all these items ready to serve translating to upscale CS restaurants.

That sounds good! I was thinking of getting the prime rib anyway since the maple filet is off the menu, and I love the Chocolate "Moose" so the soup would be a bonus. :goodvibes

Claire&TheBoys, you took the words right out of my mouth :thumbsup2 I think i'm going to try this in a few weeks since I planed on paying OOP for the soup anyway :goodvibes

When did they get rid of this? I just booked two weeks ago for a trip in October, and my reservation plan says Appetizer-Entrée-Dessert-NonAlcoholic Beverage OR one full buffet.

Either you are booked for the deluxe plan, or you are missing the part where it says appetizers for age 3-9 only.

As of January 1, 2008, appetizers for adults are not included in the regular dining plan (except for this pilot menu, the Fantasmic Dining Package and all-you-can-eat meals that include an appetizer component)

I believe the Fantasmic Dinner Package at Mama Melrose's also offers a appetizer, main course, dessert and non-alcoholic drink for 1 table service credit. Off the plan it is $32.99 + tip per adult. There is also a childs menu available and that is $ 11.99 per child. Hope this was helpful!
