3 bids so far...

Its up over $20 per point now.

How much can it go for? $70??? May actually be smart. I think the cost to sell on Ebay is probably less than a resale broker, he will probably come out OK.

I say that it is a good idea.

It's bid on by Nuthut (he posts here sometimes, but more on the rental board)....

Sounds crazy though, why would someone buy them just to sell them a few months later? They didn't even use any of the points.... Must not be so crazy, I saw a 150 point resale BCV contract on another site....

I do agree with Rich on this one, I think EBAY is a good way to go if you can handle the paperwork on your own...

Anybody remember the cheapest price DVC offered BCV for ? I'd be curious to know if his reserve is less then that price.

BCV hasn't been for sale for that long, $72 pre, $75 when it opened?????

Its getting near $50 per point, 15k for 340 points

Didn't the pre-sale offer an additional $5.00 discount or choice of WDW resort stay ? I was thinking 70.00 pp,but don't remember.

Yep, the bid is $15,100 for 340 points...that's $44.41 a point. This'll be fun to watch.

And KNWVIKING, $70 per point with the incentive is what I also recall at BCV pre-sell. Not bad for those who jumped right in!

are you guys sure about the 70 per point? I was thinking it was 65.00 per point after the pre-buy incentive? I can't remember either though... maybe it's time to try the search engine!!!

But I'm still curious why someone would buy for such a short time & use no points & then sell?

... the typical reasons I've heard for sales like this are ugly divorces, loss of job, sudden loss of a spouse.

I was thinking it was $75 per point going to $80 in June. There was an early $5 pp discount where you DIDN'T give up your points or free stays at WDW resorts based on how many points you bought. As per this auction, I have no idea why the sale but I bet you that the reserve is at $70 pp or higher. I bet he paid $70 pp and is trying to make a small profit. Still, it might be a fair deal if all else is ok and one doesn't have to go back and pay the 2002 dues on top of the closing costs. I would sure want Title Insurance on this one though.

in addition to KNWVIKINGS reasons, some people discover themselves to be overextended, or have buyers remorse.

Or maybe one spouse bought and the other just found out!

$47.35

May get to $60 tonight.

I definitely think this is a good way to go if you are familiar with Ebay and generally comfortable making transactions in this manor. I would be, but I don't have any intentions of selling.

I am facing a possible job loss, but I think I would try to rent my points to make the payments, not sell.

I bet it's divorce or some such ugliness.

Since I bought BCV on the first week of the pre-sale I can confirm it was $75 per point and they were giving a $5 off incentive (you did not have to sell your first years points back) making the price $70 per point.

I bet it's divorce or some such ugliness. [/B][/QUOTE]

My 250 DVC points are my main motivation for staying married...I could share the kids, but not the points;)

Disney still has right of first refusal. The specs for the sale are pretty vague. Who assumes closing costs??? Via which law firm??? What about maintenance costs???? With a resale broker, one's deposit and payment are placed in escrow; I certainly wouldn't send $20,000+ to the seller:D .......

From the description:

In addition, all 340 points from the 2002 year are available to use!! You can book a two week stay in this posh resort with the coolest pool of any resort in WDW your very first year!

How many points remain available seems quite clear.

A smart buyer would e-mail the seller to clear up closing costs before making a bid.

Via which law firm???? Why bother enriching attourneys? Set it up through Sunbelt Title, or some other title agency.

What about mantainence costs? What about them? They were already paid for 2002 and need to be paid in Jan for 2003. The seller may want to be paid for them since 2002 points are intact, again, I am certain that if the seller is serious and the buyers are serious, all this is being discussed via e-mail now and for the next nine days that the auction will last.

Of course you wouldn't send $20k+ to the seller, that would be stupid, I am sure the seller isn't expecting that. It is going to close normally, through a title agent with escrows of course.

I thought you were a lawyer or something.

There is nothing wrong with this, I think it is good for the seller for certain and we will determine how good it was for the buyer when we see the final price.

There are not many BCVs on the resale market yet, it could be a good opportunity for someone to get BCV below $84 a point, with all 2002 points intact, it could be a real good deal for someone.

Thanks, RICH, I didn't see that all of the 2002 points were available. Of course, I SHARE your sentiments about the legal profession, but I think that an attorney has to be inevitably involved in these private transactions. The Title company only insures that the title is clear; it doesn't draw up the closing papers...........
