3 bedrppm at Hilton Head-Tommy or Doc?

I was just at Tommy's wonderful site about Hilton Head. I have a question about his comment that you could have a 3 bedroom possibly in the lodge. Would this be an ok alternative to a grand villa? I would love to take my mom with us. She can walk but uses a wheelchair for long distances and taking the stairs every time to get to the room probably wouldn't be good. She has stayed in a grand villa with us at Vero and can do the steps in the grand villa- its just getting to the grand villa at Hilton Head that I was worried about. Would the view be ok from the lodge? I guess we could crowd up a bit and just go with a two bedroom- do they have those that would be on the ground floor? Any recommendations? There is no GV in the lodge, but I believe they can "make" one with a 1BR and 2 connecting studios. (I know this is possible at VB). HH has only 5 GV's and all are up 2 flights of steps.

The lodge has elevator access to all floors. Lodge views are either marsh or island views. My favorite is marsh view, but either is nice.

I like many of the views from the Lodge. As a matter of fact, the 3rd floor, east side is one of my favorite views. Many of the other units just look into a courtyard or onto the pool. If a wheelchair is a necessity, then I think you have to go with the lodge. All of the other units have steps even up to the 1st floor (a concern for flooding I am sure).

As Tommy stated, there are no ground floor villas at HH. The entire resort sits on an island basically at sea level (there is even an area below sea level).

The lodge has elevator access to all floors, but all other buildings have the lowest level entry accessed by about 16 steps and all GV's are on the level above that.

From the lodge, we've watched dolphin and otter in Broad Creek- the views are great!

How difficult is it to get the GV at HH? I never realized there were only 5! But then we own at OKW and really haven't thought of getting a GV until just recently....and of course we thought "how about a GV at HH for a few days at Christmas time?" AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
