Not a full trip report as I've got a bit of a cold and can't concentrate for quite that long. This was our second DCL cruise, the first one being a Western 7-day in 2003.

Good:
Rasul Mud Bath - Wow, this was an incredible experience. We both had a wonderful time.
Rainforest room - I /want/ a mint fog shower in /my/ house. Right Now.
The Beef Tenderloin - Best. Meal. Ever.
Golden Mickeys - Fun show, and I got to see "Once Upon A Dream" performed which always makes me happy. And the girl who does Pocahontas has an /incredible/ voice.
Pub Night in Diversions - Much fun, though I'd adore the show being longer.
Service - Absolutely faultless this time. In particular, I had help from lots of people in making my husband's birthday spectacular.

Not so good:
The weather - No fault of Disney's of course, but it was definately a rockier trip than the Western was. Still, only rained one day. And not too hot.
Upkeep - Bussing of tables in the pool areas and topsiders was clearly lacking on this cruise, and my husband and I noticed that the surface of the Quiet Cove pool was in /dire/ need of a repainting.

Observations:
The elevators could really use a 'clear all' button at adult-only height. At least three times we got on the elevator (once while running a bit late for a show and me in high heels) to find /every single floor button lit/. Now, kids will be kids, but how nice and easy would it be to just hit one button and clear all the prank hits and go on your merry way?
What is it with the people who seem to think that smiling is a personal weakness? I could not believe the amount of petty *****ing that I heard coming from some of the other adults on the ship. Oh no! You have to take a taxi from the port! Horrors! Oh no! There's a fishy smell at low tide! Our vacation is ruined! Sheesh.
I'm a bad person. I probably should have felt sympathy for the family that nearly missed the boat, running onto the dock at St. Thomas as the Magic pulled away. But honestly, watching from Deck 7 aft, it was just the best darn floor show of the week. If they hadn't been over 45 minutes past the stated all aboard I'dve had more sympathy.

What happened with the family on St. Thomas???? Did they get left behind....

We saw that happen on an RCCL ship when we were in St. Thomas...they jumped and missed....it was hilarious!!!!!!

Glad to read a positive post.....

Phyllis

As we were watching the take off from deck 7 aft, an announcement came over the PA system asking three passengers to please call if they were on the ship. My husband turned and said "Wouldn't it be funny if we got to see them run up the dock?". The dock was in port for a long time. Stated all aboard was 4:30, departure was supposed to be 4:45 and at 5:15 we started to slowly pull away. We'd moved about six feet from the dock when a taxi pulled up and a woman got out. She started walking very casually to the ship (seemed in no hurry whatsoever) and then noticed it was moving. She staaaared up at the ship and we could hear her say "That's my SHIP! How do I get on the ship!?" among other things. She ran back to her taxi driver, who's response was to burst out laughing, and then she ran all the way down the dock to grab the port authorities. (Say what I will about this woman's sense of timing, she sure had stamina.) About that time another taxi pulled up with the rest of her family, including a baby in a stroller. The port authority must have made some calls, because the ship started slowing down a bit and then a rubber dinghy appeared. After some wrangling the whole family got in the dinghy and were taken out to the Magic just before the port captain left the ship.

the clear all button would be a wonderful idea - write that into Disney!!

Thanks for the report!!

Footnotegirl , I think we met in the elevator when you were saying that to your husband. I was joking with you about it while you were saying how it would be nice if there wa a clear button. Too funny!

That's very possible! Unless someone had the same idea as I did. Hubby and I are about the same height. I've got long straight brown hair and hubby has a salt and pepper beard. Sound about right?

How could these people be late for the ship departure? with a baby no less....unreal.....

Also on last week's cruise: and yes, the funniest scene of the week was watching the woman running along the dock at St. Thomas!Strange, how the other 2500 people onboard managed to read the Navigator, listen to the endless tannoy messages regarding "All Aboard" times, and check their watches! Just HOW long did they expect the Captain to wait for them?He had already delayed sailing by 45mins! Oh well, maybe there was a valid reason.............although I doubt it, as a phone call to the ship would have been placed.Perhaps a $100 fine (to charity)would have been appropriate?

Also agree: I want a RAINFOREST ROOM in my home too!

About the weather................... did you not "fry" on board Sun and Monday, and again Tues and Weds in port? Only Thurs and Fri bit disappointing, but at least we got to CC!

Great cruises! Nat :cool1:

My DH and I saw the exact same scene play out in St. Thomas on our Disney cruise 4 yrs. ago and it too was quite entertaining :rotfl2:

The ship had stayed an extra 30 or 45 min. and right when we pulled out here comes a couple running along the dock. They put them in the rubber boat and zoomed out to the Magic. The best part was watching them climb up the rope ladder with their packages :rotfl2: !!

We never heard what made them late!
