Uuuugh. We leave in less than 3 weeks for our 1st ever trip and my 6 year old is 47 1/4 inches tall.

I hope she grows quickly, or I may have to put her on the taffy puller:lmao:

Just thought I would throw this out and see if any othe people have had shortcoming with their kids.

Are you measuring with or w/o shoes on? My suggestion is to get some inserts for her sneakers to see if that helps.

The last time we went to WDW, our DS was just under the required height and we got some inserts and bigger sneakers for him and it bumped him up over 42" at the time.

She's so close that she may be able to stand up reeeeeeeeeally tall and sqeak by if she gets measured. Practice at home! :thumbsup2

My oldest was a bit over 48" in bare feet when we went last and there were some rides that he didn't get on as he was just under the measuring bar so even if she did sprout that last little bit there are no guarantees.

But I still think you should tie lead weights to her feet and let her hang on the monkey bars to stretch! (Just Kidding - I can hear the gasps of outrage now... :rotfl:)

ROFL!

Was it with shoes on or off? If they were off, you should be fine with shoes on...otherwise I agree with the PP ;)

Just like the old boots you hung from to exercise!!! Oh wait I might be dating myself.

We had this same problem last year with my son, but 1/2 inch. He wore Heelies (without the wheels of course) and made it through. They are about an inch higher than regular sneakers ;)

My niece was an inch short one year and she wore healed jelly shoe sandals.....it worked!

A family friend brought her kids over to our house immediately after visiting Six Flags. She says, "Take your roller coaster shoes off girls." I look down. They have on really cute hightops with about 1 1/2 in. flat soles. I had little kids at the time and didn't really get it. She says, "They won't make height with their sandals on."

I figure shoes are shoes. As long as the kid can comfortably walk, you are good. If you are that close, I would suggest playing around with the shoes. Flame away. I can happily and comfortably stand by the above statement.

First time we went, you could slide a credit card between the head of our youngest and the height bar. They wouldn't let him on, which didn't bother me too much since he didn't meet the standard (I'm not one of those "yeah, but it sure is close" folks). They did give him a "future fast pass", so the next time we went (2 years later), we used it, along with a regular fast pass, and rode the ride (I think it was EE) twice in a very short amount of time.

Of course! Shoes! I feel stupid now! LOL I've been measuring my kids without shoes for the rides. Hmm... maybe my 6 year old will get on the ones he wants after all.

The "Future Fast Pass" thing is really cute, and I'm sure makes the child feel a little bit better about being too short to ride.

I heard of a family who folded up a piece of paper and stuck it into the heel of the child's shoe so that they were pushed up that last bit! Practice standing tall! :dance3:

Also, try for the rides with height requirements first thing when you arrive at the park. We're all slightly taller earlier in the day than later.

I totally understand your worry, the first time our family went to disney world in 1989 my youngest son had one thing he wanted to do.......drive the cars in grand prix raceway, it had a height requirement at the time , I forget what it was now but I recall my son was an inch too short. During the months before we left on vacation my son stretched daily and we kept measuring and finally about a week before we left he had grown that inch ......nothing is impossible if you want it ! :yay:

Um, my son will be six in July and he's barely 42". He can't even ride the 44" height requirement stuff.

Don't stress over it. She's only six. You can go back when she's older too.

And, to be honest, I think there is way too much pressure to get kids to ride stuff way too young. I remember not even WANTING to ride Space Mtn. until I was about 9. And, now, as an adult, I am a thrill junkie. However, if my parents had pushed me onto some of these rides before I was ready, I would probably grow up hating thrill rides...

My dd's (6) shoes that I got her as an early Christmas present were Sketchers Im pretty Talls. She was able to get on Rocking Roller Coaster with me but not her dad. SHe was ok for the regular line but not for the fast pass line :confused3.

We had that problem with Dinosour, DS2 was tall enough at the start of the line but when it came to getting on the ride they said he was to small...the stick when he walked under it moved his hair around so he was touching it, but they said not close enough.

Hope she grows before you go, but that only means a few rides she can not go on, which is not to bad.

We were there in December and were convinced that our 8 yo ds was finally 48" tall. He went on everything he wanted to and no one gave him a second glance. Lo and behold - at his well child visit at the beginning of this month he is only 46 1/2" - poor kid said "Seriously I am not tall enough for Disney still!"

I agree if your measuring her without her shoes on put a pair on her that she will be wearing and then measure her. Also, but some when big soles on the. We did this last year when my kid was about and inch to short. It worked wonders. The only ride I wouldn't consider doing this for is the ROCKIN ROLL ROLLERCOASTER. I'm scared my son would fall out. :rotfl: I know it wouldn't happen just my fear. LOL
