Disney trip report 3/22/10 – 3/24/10

My wife and I went on an extended “date” to Disney World for our 5 year anniversary. Here is my report.

Arrived in Orlando about 1215 pm. Catching the Magic Express was'nt all that bad except for the lack of direction to the pickup location. We waited about 30 minutes in the Pop line and were at the Pop by about 115pm. When we went to check in I was taken immediately at the online check in desk and all I had to do was say my name and the attendant almost knew it off the top of his head. This was weird as he also wished us a Happy Anniversary before he even looked in the computer. Check in was a breeze and in about 5 minutes we had our room. I will say it was not the room I had requested however it was right below it and I was offered the requested room the next night but declined the move.

So at this point we walked to the room where we were met by some construction equipment in the classic years section. They were repainting the Lady and Tramp statues as well as some of the figures on the hotel itself. I must say this was the worst part of the trip and it was not even that bad! So we got to the room and just as last time, the room was clean and in great shape. We had requested a king bed but ended up with two doubles. Decided not to say anything. About 330pm I called up the front desk to find out when we were getting the bags, they transferred me to the bell section where I was told we had to wait 3 hours from check in, I nicely explained we had reservations that night and needed our toiletries. The nice girl took my name and number down and told me that she would call when the bag came in. While we were waiting, we went to the food court where I say, I love it. The gift shop there is also awesome.

About 415 when the bags were still not there and I had received no call, I called again and the bags were there. I went down and picked them up immediately.

We had a dinner reservation at Tonys Town Square at about 750. We arrived at the park all dressed up and walked around for about an hour and a half. My wife was in heels so she got alotta stares. We arrived at 730 and waited about 10 minutes. Upon sitting down the waitress wished us a happy anniversary and was just so pleasant to talk to. We both had the chicken parm, I will say, being Florida this was excellent food no matter!

When we got out of Tonys we decided to just head back to the room because we were up so early that morning to travel. When we got back to the room about 9pm. There was a message on our phone. I wasnt going to get it but the wife yelled at me and made me retrieve it. The message was the front desk and that they had a package for me. Not expecting a package I called and they told me they would be right there. Apparently my wife ordered something from the florist for us. When it got there it was a bottle of champagne. “this is where the second bed came in useful”. We decided to have a few drinks before bed and when I opened the bottle “on the bed” the champagne spilled out soaking one of the beds (oops). Had a few drinks and ended the night.

Tuesday we started off with reservations at Boma. The Bus ride wasnt that bad, we took the bus from Pop to Epcot, then Epcot to AKL. At the restaurant we were greeted by the servers who immediately wished us a happy anniversary. They also gave us a card signed by what appeared to be the Waite staff of the restaurant. When we sat down we were served by Albert. He was by far the best waiter we ever had. The breakfast was great and it was just a great experience.

Tuesday we spent the day at Epcot. We left to go back to the room at about 2 and tried to head back at about 330. We waited about 30 minutes for a bus, when one finally came some old lady shouted at the bus driver about his being so late. He seemed so flustered then piped up about an accident involving the buses at the Epcot toll booth.

After getting back to the park we walked the countries ending with Dinner at Germany. Germany has always been great but it was nothing spectacular.

I did notice that there was a big change in some things from our December trip to this one. The security was now much younger then in December and they were also somewhat visible. I was happy to see security walking the grounds of the resort and I think it should be done more often. Another change in attitude I saw from previous visits were photo pass photogs. They avoided using my camera and didnt want to use anything but theirs. I got 30 photos done with photo pass but their photogs only took 3 or 4 pictures with mine.

Overall a great trip!

What a great way to spend your anniversary. I can sympathize with your wife, I get all dressy for dinner sometimes too and people look at me like i'm nuts walking by Space Mountain in a black dress and heels! :rotfl:

Also, you really made me miss POP... thank goodness I will be there soon.

Thanks for the report :thumbsup2
