3/24/04, Wednesday, St. Thomas = St. John= Trunk Bay!!!!

I got up early and brought back breakfast and lunch food from Topsiders. Packed up lunch in ziplock baggies and threw in cooler. Everything else packed up from last night. We get kids into bathing suits and shorts and get ready to carry them to immigration. Ready to step out door when realize I don't remember where I put our passports. I panic just a bit :scared: as I look in every "safe" place I can think of. Find them in photo box we got as gift at begining of cruise, oh yeah, that makes sense  .

Immigration is smooth and only people I hear complaining are the couple sitting right next to me. We had brought our cooler with us so we rolled right off the ship once we passed (@ 8:20 am). We rode in an extended cab taxi, we were in the front. Cost $32 for our family of 4. Caught the 9am RedHook ferry $8 for us 4. Heavens opened up and dumped rain on us. We stood under cover for the ride, carrying our sleepy children. By the time we had reached St. John, the sun had come out and it started to feel a little hot :sunny: . My DH's step mom and sister were there waiting for us :grouphug: . They walked us to a cash machine (DIShint = bring more $ was dead on, we should have brought more, but it was quick to fix) and then to their rental car.

We drove to Trunk Bay and got there by 10am. So pretty, oh my! I really can't say how beautiful it is here. I snorkeled for the very first time and couldn't believe how easy it was to stay up in the water. Very salty. I went all the way out along the snorkel trail and never tired. We had our own snorkel gear from Sam's Club for all of us. DS enjoyed snorkeling and did very well. DD didn't want to put her face in water but she loved swimming in the ocean in her lifevest. Water was warmer than yesterday. Sprinkled a little on us and clouded up a few times. Bright, full sun from noon on. We had our towels laid out in the shade and ate on and off whenever we got hungry. Because we worry about burning, we all had our hats on from noon on. It looked so funny swimming in the ocean wearing our hats so we had our picture taken of the 6 of us. I reapplied sunscreen to myself and DD 2 times. We didn't burn at all. DS had his Dad do him and he got pink on his arms, my DH's back burnt. He thinks his shirt may have rubbed it off before he snorkled. Have to watch it in the sun. I'm still tan (for me) from this day in the intense sun two weeks later! All too soon it was time to pack up. We were driving away from the beach at 1:40pm That is cutting it a little close but not bad. We made the 2pm ferry and even had seats to sit down. Both kids fell asleep with their heads in my lap. We were back on the ship a little after 3pm.

DH went back off of the ship to shop promising to be back by 4pm. This made me a bit nervous. I bathed the kids and then showered myself. They ate room service and watched TV. I took some photos from the verandah and took a couple of the Queen Mary II. DH was back with time to spare and happily showed me the fridge magnets and shot glasses he had purchased. I thought he was a little silly :jester: . He went up to deck 10 to tape the horn sound off of all of the ships. Kids and I enjoyed from our verandah. I was in my robe and so relaxed. I dressed the kids for the club and then myself for Palo dinner. Just as I got my dress on my DH comes up from behind and slips a gold "snake" chain around my neck. Very special moment  puckerup: . He had purchased the shot glasses in the very first shop he poked his head in as a ruse. He had compared prices at 6 shops before buying my necklace. I hope he got a good deal but I'm not going to worry about it. I think it was a romantic thing he did and I cherish that.

We dropped the kids off at their clubs. DS's age group was "stormin the lab" which pleased him and DD was going to Dance with Snow White. We showed up to Palo for our 6:30pm ressie about 2 min. late but no one seemed to notice. I believe our server's name was Christian. He was excellent. I ordered mushroom everything! - YUM!! I did have the chocolate souffle but I thought the gelatto was even better, really hit the spot, I ate every bite of ice cream but didn't finish souffle. Dinner took hours and we so enjoyed ourselves. DH had ordered a bottle of wine. I didn't drink much because I had taken a bonine before dinner, but had had a little. We were feeling tipsy, happy, childfree as we took the elevator back to our room :lovestruc . We tripped happily into our room expecting rose petals and found........a hanging towel monkey!! It was a really cute monkey and had one of the leis around his neck. Our kids' stuffed Minnie and Mickey were climbing the bunk ladder. Exciting room for our kids to find later but I was a little let down. Miscommunication is why we didn't get our romantic turndown service tonight. We called about it and were told we could have it tomorrow night which sounded fine. The kids loved the monkey and we took their picture under it.

Tonights show was the game show and we weren't interested. Perfect night for us to have our Palo dinner and alone time. We ordered room service and watched alittle TV before going to sleep (do I even need to type that anymore? )</font>

What a nice way to be surprised by your DH. Sounds like a "golden" moment.
