3/14/09 Spring Break Aboard the Magic

Yea for you!! I was hoping our rooms would be connecting, but next to each other will be great.

Has anyone stayed on deck 1 before? Am I going to feel like I am at the bottom of the ocean??

btw....who called you your TA or DCL??

The message was left by DVC member service. We are using DVC points for this cruise. Cannot find any room report for 2014 but it is rated as 5 on the Wonder.

That is great that you got an upgrade to a CAT 9, may I ask what you were in orginally? I went from a CAT 12 to CAT 10 on deck 2. I paid for this cruise in June when the CAD was at par, and then downgraded to a 12 in December when they lowered the rates and I made over $400 in the currency difference, plus the reduction by downgrading so I am happy, but unless the CAD improves I think next spring break will have to be on RCCL as you can book in CAD$

You are flying Delta right from Buffalo, make sure to check your flights. I got bumbed from our Friday 6:00 AM flight, I had seat numbers one day and the next they were gone. Called Delta and they told me the flight was oversold and would I like to change to a flight with confirmed seats or would I like to stay on the flight and get seats at the 24 hour mark. I did not want to risk that so we are now leave at 1:00 but we will not get to MCO until 7:30 PM so that day is going to be a wash.

4 weeks today we leave.

We've been on deck 1. . .very quiet. We were at the front of the ship with an inside room. I felt like it was the same as when we're on deck 7. (which is where we are this cruise) We booked this cruise while on board in 2007 and choose our room then.

Looking forward to this trip!

Ok. . .I just looked up our reservations. . .we've been upgrade to a Cat 9 (we were a cat 11). . .we have a window room!

Hi Lisa

We booked Cat 10, so it is one cat upgrade. Using DVC points means we cannot book cat 12, otherwise we would, since it will be a automatic upgrade to at least cat 11.

Not sure if we will do another DCL until the new ship comes in. How does the RCCL price compare to DCL ? I did some checking before and the prices are not that much different, may be I was looking at list price :confused3

Cheers

I have the RCCL Freedom of the Seas booked for March break 2010, leaving Cape Canaveral doing Eastern Caribbean and inside room for 3, $2600 CAD and DCL in a CAT 11 is $4000 US but that does not include on board booking discount, so that would take it down to about $3400 US at 1.25=4200 CAD. The room is a bit smaller on the Freedom but the ship is much newer, so we will see.

Hi Lisa

Didn't realize Freedom will be at Port Canaveral next year. The price looks very attractive comparing to DCL. Looking at some the reviews and activities, they sound amazing, ice skating, rock climbing, flow rider, H2O zone... It should be a fun time for your girls.

Cheers

4 weeks and counting...

We won't be going back on another DC for awhile after this one. We do love everything about it. But, we can book a 7 day cruise with a balcony for less than an inside room on DC. We have a Carnival cruise booked for Nov. of this year. We are going out of Tampa.

Anyway, what are the ages of everyone's children? My 15 yr. old dd is afraid she is going to be alone on the trip.

4 weeks from today and we will be on the ship

Totally agree with you on the price of DCL. May be the trick is to become Florida residents to get 50% off.

DD is 12 and DS is 11. There are always a lot of kids on DCL, this is the spring break week for Ontario.

I have two dd's one is 15 & the other is 12. The oldest doesn't make friends as easily as the youngest. I should have brought a friend for the oldest. We did that last time we cruised DCL. It worked out great. DCL is just so expensive to say to a friends parent, "Hey can you dd go with us on a cruise? I can't afford to pay for it, so can you spare $1000 to send her with us?" That is why I am hoping my oldest will meet a friend and have a good time. She thinks she might be to old for a disney cruise :scared1:

26 days!!

We are on this cruise as well. We are booked into a Category 10 on Deck 7. I would love an exterior room but I like to be high up on the ship and more Category 9's are lower than deck 7.

I have DD13 and DD10 and DH coming with us. Last time we were on the ship in 2007, my kids did not hang out with any other kids. I was a bit surprised that the kids spent a lot of time just being together. I hope they meet more kids this trip.

Just a few more weeks and we will be on our way!

Our last DC in 2005 we were in 7007 & 7009 on Deck 7 Cat 10. Great location.

My 12 (almost 13) dd will be excited to know there are more girls going her age!!

Time is passing so quickly now. My DH asked me why I haven't started packing yet. I am just not ready, I guess!

Hi Hopelea - I don't start packing until three days before we go, otherwise we take way too much stuff.

I do however hit the stores for what we need and get the laundry done before then.

Which deck are you going to be on this trip?

we are on deck one!! I am a little worried about it. We have cruised on Deck 6 & 7 before, this is the first time so far below! I am trying to stay positive...we are really close to the doors to get off at the ports! I am pretty sure it will be quiet as there are not many rooms down there!

Sara, my 12 yr old dd, just walked by and said, "mom can I get a suitcase out?" I told her "NO"

Hi Hopelea

Just wondering if your DD(12) has signout privilege from the kids club. My kids are bugging me about it and DW is not 100% sure.

Gary

From what I understand in the Oceans Quest the kids are not required to sign in or out. THey have free run. My dd will have strict rules she will have to follow or she will be hanging with me all day! We leave notes in the rooms for each other and I have told her when she leaves OQ she is call the stateroom and leave a message telling me where she is going.

I am hoping she finds a good group of kids to hang around :)

No luggage tags for me but I booked with a travel agent.

My DD10 and DD13 both had privileges to sign out the last trip when they were 11 and 8.

Same thing about checking in with us rules but they spent a lot of time with me on the ship. I am hoping they make some friends to hang out with. :thumbsup2
