3/14/09 Spring Break Aboard the Magic

Lisa
From the airport to the Radisson is about a 30/40 minute direct drive. Hopelea is right about the tolls. . .about a total of $5.00.

When we were at the Radisson in Dec 2007, it was undergoing a face lift. Lots of rooms were completely empty and being remodeled. Nice hotel and the shuttle service is very well organized (both to the ship and on the return back).

It is very cold for us here in South Alabama today (about 15 degrees). . .I'm ready for the warmth that this cruise is going to bring.

On an earlier post, someone asked about how warm the water is at Castaway Cay this during this trip. Two years ago it was very nice. . .

Have a great day

I keep checking the disney website to see if my room has been posted yet. Nope, not yet. I still can't believe that I am going on a DC....it was something I had put out of my mind. It has always been so expensive that we weren't able to do it. But, with the CAT 12's opening up, we are!! I usually plan a cruise 18 months to 2 years out.....this seem so strange to have booked a cruise less than 90 days out. I keep telling my DH that I wish we could move to FL so we could do last minute cruises :)

In St. Thomas we canceled our excursion through DCL. We are going to go to Magen's Bay on our own. I hope I am making the right decision. I am not a person that likes to wander own her own.

January is 1/2 way over! Our trip will be here before we know it. 9 saturdays and we will be on the ship! :)

Yes January is going fast.:cheer2:

You will be fine taking a taxi to the beach:beach: , just make sure to ask the driver where to go for the return back to the ship, I did this on Grand Cayman last year and it was easy, just make sure to leave lots of time to return as everyone seems to head back at the same time.

Well, I just changed my mind AGAIN. I seem to be doing that a lot. We are now booked on a DCL excursion that takes us to St. John for a beach and snorkeling. I had read that Magen's bay isn't great for snorkeling. My dh & parents love to snorkel.

I know the next two months are going to go by so fast. My poor dh has been working non stop since Jan 4. That was his last day he had off. He has been working 12 - 18 hour days since Jan 4. I am not complaining. I am thankful he has a job, but I worry about him working so much. He says these hours will be for a couple more weeks.

I am looking forward to going to Downtown Disney and buying my dh a new mickey tie for formal night. We found one we really liked when we were there in Nov. We should have bought it then.

I hope everyone is staying warm. Do you think we are going to have a full ship or are we all that is going?

That is too bad that your husband has to work so much, hopefully it will ease off soon.

Sounds like you are doing the same excursion on St Thomas, I am looking forward to Trunk Bay pictures I have seen make it look beautiful.

They are no longer selling CAT 12's so I wonder if that means the ship is getting fuller. When I sailed in December the Wonder was not full, but it did not any less busy then when we sailed on a full ship last March, so I don't think it makes much of a difference.

It is cold and snowy here.

Here is a great trip report from a recent Eastern cruise and they have posted the Navigators.

Since there is no longer the required early customs meet at 6:30 in St Thomas, I have decided to cancel my excursion to Trunk Bay:sad1: The meet time was 7:15AM which would have been ok if we were forced up, but seeing that the night before is the pirate party and my oldest DD needs 11 hours sleep to be able to function I cancelled, oh well something to look forward to for the next time.;)

Almost February and we will be able to say next month we are going away.:cool1:

so. . .how do they do the customs at St Thomas now?. . .they were still doing the early morning thing in March 2007 (our last cruise)

On Carnival Glory Nov '08 they were still doing it. I am glad they aren't doing it anymore. I was dreading that part. Now, we can get up when we want and get off the ship when we want! Sounds like a great vacation to me.

I can't wait to get my room #. I wonder when I will get it. It is driving me crazy. I have never done GTY before. It is fun not knowing, but now I want to know :)

Wonder how full the ship is? Weird we don't have many more people on this thread.

I think the new customs clearing in St Thomas just started in 2009.

I would say the GTY rooms will be assigned in 2 weeks. It looks like people from the 2/28 cruise were assigned rooms this week.

Last year the spring break cruise we were on had a very slow meet thread also, I guess a lot of DISers do not cruise at spring break.

I was thinking that I might have a room assignment by Valentines day. Wouldn't that be a great Valentines gift.....here you booked a 12, but you can have a room with a window!!pixiedust:

Dh & I are going on this cruise without the children!:cool1: Is anyone else going without the kiddos on this one?

We are traveling with our two teenage dd's. So, we will be pretty much alone :rotfl:

We won't see them until their 1 AM curfew.

Glad there are more people joining this thread....only 40 days

No room assignment yet. Will it be posted on the Disney website or will it just show up on my luggage tags?

Friends of mine are on the Wonder right now.....looks a little cold and windy....hope the weather gets better for us!

OMG....i just realized that five more saturdays and we will be on the ship!:cool1:

When you look on line at disneycruise.com at your reservation it will have a room number, I think it says GTY right now. You will not be able to tell if you are upgraded until you look up the category of the room your are assigned, it will always say CAT 12 no matter what room category you end up in. By next Friday I would think we will have room assignments.

My girls asked if they could pack this weekend I guess they are starting to get excited, or just tired of all the winter clothes. It was -27 celcius yesterday, coldest day of this long winter so far.

I would love to get a suitcase out and start packing, but it would upset my cat so much!!

I can't believe we are so close......It was fun watching the Wonder sail off on Sunday.

Still waiting for my cabin assignment. I check the website at least twice a day.

Anybody started watching for UPS & our cruise documents?

Check your reservation we got a cabin # and we were upgraded to a CAT 10 on deck 2.

Thanks!!! Got ours also. We are in rooms 1037 & 1039 of course deck 1 Cat 10's. I am a little disappointed. I was hoping for a window, but I think I will like deck 1.

Just got a voice mail that we got upgraded to cat 9 on deck 2 (2014). It will be great for the kids going to Ocean Quest.
