3/14/09 Spring Break Aboard the Magic

If there are four of you in your party, you can't get a CAT 12. They only sleep three. There are four of us in our party and I know we will at least have a CAT 11 because 12's don't sleep four. I really don't care what kind of room I am in, but one thing did cross my mind. I like the way the rooms are layed out in the inside rooms. I like the bed being at the back of the room. That way, when my kids come in after the clubs close, they don't have to try to make it around my bed without waking us up :)

But, like I said, I am happy with any room.....just let me on the ship.

My husband is not coming (he hates to travel) so it is just the 3 of us.

The layout is nice having the bed in the back, I think it will give us more room when we split the beds too.

Well that room would be perfect for you!!! My parents also booked a CAT 12 and are hoping they get upgraded, but since there is two, I don't know!
I just hope they keep our rooms some where close.

My DH loves to travel and he hates the thought of us going without him. I would though if he couldn't!!!

Do your girls love the kids clubs? Mine did at that age. I couldn't get them out. My 12 yr. old still does love the clubs. I am not sure how the 15 yr old will do in the stack. She is not as outgoing as the younger one.

I really think I would enjoy this cruise even without children.

MK......I was just cleaning out my dd's closet and found a pink sweatshirt jacket that is a disney princess jacket. It is a size youth large.....do you think your oldest dd would like it or could use it? I will pack it if you think it would be used. I hate to just give it away here in town to someone that won't appreciate it. I thought about taking it on the ship and trying to find someone that would like it. Let me know if you want it and I will get it to you on the ship.

Hope

That is nice of you to think of us, but we are travelling very lightly and will not have any extra room. Last time we had 4 bags and it was such a hassle dragging the bags around myself this time we are only bringing 2.

Guess we are on this cruise alone :) Maybe we will be upgraded to the two CAT 1's!!!!!

We can always dream. When I was on the Wonder is December I had an opportunity to do a tour of the Roy Disney Suite but I never made it, those who saw it said it was beautiful. I cannot imagine spending that much money though on a cabin.

I have booked the RCCL Freedom on the Seas for March 2010 and I first booked a Balconey room and it was cheaper than I am paying for a CAT 12 on the Magic this year, so I was pleased, but I have now decided to go with an inside room which is half of what I am paying for the CAT 12 and decided to use the savings to pay for a second cruise next year. A room is a room to me and I am just happy to be on the ship, but everyone is different.

So what are your daughters looking forward to the most? Mine cannot wait to order Mickey bars from room service.

I think I am looking forward to ordering Mickey ears from room service more than the kids!! I love those bars!

My girls are looking forward to meeting new people and just going. They love the whole disney experience.

I agree about the rooms. I don't care if I am in a broom closet. As long as I get to go I am happy.

We are booked on the Carnival Legend Nov 22, 2009. We do have a balcony for that trip. It is costing us less for the balcony on that trip then the CAT 12 on this trip. But the experience is completely different.

When do you think we will get our room assignments? I can't wait. I just hope they keep my parents and I close. My dad would not be happy if we were upgraded to a better room and they had a CAT 12. But, he is 71 & set in his ways :)

We booked our night before. We are staying in Orlando. We want to go to downtown disney friday night. We want to pick up a new Mickey tie for my dh to wear on formal night.
Maybe we will have more people join us soon.

We are still going, just kind of busy last couple months. Anyone settle on excursions yet ? I am planning on using Bernards Tour at St. Martin. As for Palo, we book the brunch and dinner but skipping high tea.

In St. Thomas my oldest dd wants to go to Magen's Bay for the day. We have the excursion booked through DCL, but it is $47 PP. I am sure we can do it cheaper just walking off the ship. But, that scares me a little.

In St. Martin we are doing the Golden Eagle Catamaran.

We are not doing Palo. DH doesn't want to pay for more food.:confused3

I was looking a Bernards Tours last night, just not sure if the girls would enjoy that, right now I am going to do Coral World on St Thomas and then maybe just hit the beach in St Martin.

I bet we do not get assigned a room until 20-30 day prior. I know in December it was 21 days prior.

Not sure where we are staying the night before, maybe at the Hyatt at the airport or in Cape Canaveral, our flight keeps getting changed around so we will see, I think I prefer to stay in Cape Canaveral.

Hopelea. . .where is your home in Alabama? Our family is in Montgomery. (myself, DH and DD (10) This will be our 4 Disney cruise. We cruised the Carnival Glory (new years 2007/2008). . .hated it! Horrible experience. . .Disney is our cruise line of choice! We usually book a cat 12 but have been bump up twice (once our Travel agent got an upgrade to a veranda!:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: Boy was that great!)

We' ve booked: Palo for Brunch and Dinner, St John Island Tour, Parasailing at Castaway Cay and we are keeping St Maartin open for walking around the town (been there 2 twice) once we went to Anguilla for the Swim with Dolphins encounter and the 2nd trip we did the 2 Flags tour and saw the island.

Looking forward to this trip. . .it is only about 9 weeks away!

Try to talk your DH into at least Brunch at Palo. . .I like it better than the dinner. . .on our cruise in 2006 a disboard friend and her DH invited me to brunch with them (but didn't include my DH). . .it was wonderful! And so different from their dinner. . . I told my DH that I liked Brunch better than dinner it couldn't believe it. . .on our cruise in 2007, he got to experience the brunch. . .now it is a favorite of his!

Charlene,

We are from Scottsboro, NE Corner. This will be our 3rd cruise. We are all very excited. Can't wait to get there. We are going to stay close to Downtown Disney the night before. We just love walking around down there.

I don't think I can talk DH into Palo. What was brunch like? What kind of food was offered. I am so picky it is almost embarrassing! :)

In St. Martin we are going to do the Golden Eagle Catamaran in the morning, go back to the ship, shower grab a bite to eat and then take the water taxi into town for a little shopping.

St. Thomas we decided to cancel our DCL excursion and do Magen's Bay on our own.

Well, DH just got home from work. Did you hear anything about the environmental disaster with TVA in Stevenson, Alabama? Well, DH works for TVA and he has been working that problem all weekend. We haven't seen him very much.....DD's are missing him. He just pulled up. I will talk to you later. :)

Yea, more Alabama people :woohoo:

I grew up in Athens (Limestone County)! So, I'm familiar with Scottsboro. My dad was a road builder and was frequently building in that area.

Palo Brunch??? there is a table with lots of various Seafoods, a table with cheeses (love the one from Germany!), a table of breads, a table of salads, there is brick oven pizza (but very different toppings), a HUGE assortment of desserts and then there is menu choice (eggs, omlets, meat dishes, seafood dishes, vegies).
It is well worth the extra money. . . but hey all the food on the Disney cruise is great.

Looking forward to meeting you. Someone from Al on our last cruise is also on this one. They live in Bham. . .I'll look up there "name". What are the ages of your children?
Prior to the cruise, we stay at the Radisson at the Port and use there free parking and transportation to the port.

Pop5 is from the Birmingham area.

Sorry. . .I didn't hear about the TVA thing. I'll check it out on our 10 news.

I know where Athens is....i would drive through there to go to school at UNA. ((many years ago!)

My dd's are 12 & 15. They are really excited about the trip. We just booked this trip a couple of weeks ago. We have a GTY 12 for the four of us. I know we will be in at least an 11. I really don't care where my room is, I am just happy to be there.

My parents are going with us also. They always travel with us. I want to pick up a Mickey tie from downtown disney for my DH to wear on formal night.
We stayed at the Radisson the night before our first cruise but never used the shuttle. My DH is a control freak, doesn't like waiting for shuttles. (me either :rotfl: )

Wow only 2 more months till we get away. It is cold here today so it is nice to have a warm weather trip to look forward too.

So what is the Raddison like? We are hoping to stay there, but got a surprise call from Delta on Friday, you know that dreaded call there is a problem with your reservation and you no longer have seats call:scared1: We are now leaving Friday afternoon and will not get to Orlando until 7:30 so I am not sure that I want to drive to Cape Canaveral that late, I do not like driving in stange places in the dark.

Lisa

The airport to the port is an easy drive. Lots of tolls to pay on the road. I would have about $10 cash for the tolls. I know it isn't that much, but we felt like it was $2 every few miles!

Radisson is nice. The airport at the hotel is great also. We are staying in Orlando the night before and heading for the port about 9 AM.

The pool at the Radisson is really nice.

I just got a package in the mail from DCL about our trip. Just pre-planning information. I guess that is because we just booked three weeks ago. Anyway, it is exciting to get things in the mail from DCL. Can't wait to find out my stateroom # ~~~
