2.699 to 2.899 today-paid 2.32 this morning at the same location.

No Katrina to blame this time. Guess supplies are low due to the travel necessary for all of the illegals to protest for rights in the closest large city.

I guess we'll have to wait until Novermber of 08 when the profiteering stops.

Wow I just paid 2.16 and yesterday it was 2.19. I hope it stays near this price since we leave tomorrow for Vegas and we're driving.

We also are in that 2.70-2.80 range, up about .50 in the last couple weeks.

Does supply and demand stop being economic law in 2008? :confused3

We're up about .30 in the last couple of weeks.

We're right around 2.60, it's been there for a few weeks already.

Ours is at $2.59, I was hoping it would go down, since it has been $2.59 for a couple of weeks now. I'll have to go get gas, I'll be upset if it went up already, grrrr. Gas prices is one of my huge pet peeves. I have to walk by a gas station every day.

At the gas station near me, the pricea are at $2.60 and up. (This is near DC.) We are driving to WDW next week & I expect that we shall be paying $3 a gallon.

agnes!

I have a theory that it is because the big companies know that people are going to start driving more as the weather gets nice, going on vacations etc. and so they raise the gas prices.

Which would be Supply and Demand... Demand goes up and supply stays the same, the price goes up as well....learned this in Economics 101.

I just paid $2.54 to fill my tank, and right around the corner it was $2.43! Ugh! I should've shopped around!

Actually, Katrina can be blamed for this rise (in part)

Several refineries were scheduled to close for maintenance when Katrina/Rita hit. They were kept on-line to make up for the loss during and after the storm. They were taken off-line for this maintenance and now gas has gone up. They are expecting it to come back down by the end of the month or early May.

I paid $2.59 this morning. It's been lingering around this price for awhile, so I guess we're about due for an increase soon.

I just filled up at $2.47. The station across the street was at $2.59.

I work in the industry and yes part of the increase is the seasonal effect, part is continued high oil prices due to worldwide demand. But a large part of the problem is government mandated regulations that require 10% of all fuel to be ethanol. Ethenol is being blended at the terminals with gasoline in an effort to stop the use of the dangerous addative MTBE. This causes a problem because ethanol is so corrosive that it cannot be shipped in pipelines. All ethanol deliveries are made by railcar and that industry was not geared up for the increased usage. Additionally facilities to unload the railcars are limited and therefore small shortages of the new fuel blend are popping up all over. Another problem is that even if we devoted every ear of corn grown in the US to ethanol production it would not fill the demand for the product. The optimal crop for ethanol is actually sugar cane (more natural sugar creates more alcohol). We are now going to be importing ethanol from South America to fufill our needs. In return we will ship MTBE to South America for them to use in their gas. Our legislators have effectively exported the dangers of MTBE to South America instead of doing what they set out to do which was discontinue the use of MTBE all together.

The last time I got gas was last week. I'm due to get gas in the next couple of days or so. Gas around here ranges from like 2.40$ to 2.69$ according to twincitiesgasprices.com. I haven't been out driving yet, so I'm not sure.

It was at $2.54 yesterday when I filled up, up from $2.34 last week. I don't know if it has gone up again though.

I've been paying $2.39 for the last week. It hasn't gone up or down in a week at the station I use.

Some guy on the news said it was going to go down by Memorial Day because more refineries were going back on-line. I didn't believe it when people were saying $4.00/gallon and I don't believe this guy that it's going down for the summer. I trust nobody....only my two eyes when I pull into the station.
