Okay, I thought I was all set with my off site decision, but after reading all these great threads, I'm not so sure.

We are arriving Fri Nov 12, and would like to spend two nights in an off prop suite to enjoy SeaWorld on Sat.

My plan was to get a taxi service from the airport to the Oak Plantation and then the same from the Oak to Contemporary on Sunday. I got a quote for $110.00
I chose this resort because it had a free shuttle to sea world with a 20 minute ride, and no resort fees.
Anyone have any other suggestions, or thoughts on the Oak Plantation?

THANKS!!!

The only issue that I ever have with the off-site hotels/resorts that offer free, or even paid, shuttles is that they usually have very limited flexibility - pick up times, both at the resort and the theme parks, are generally set by their schedule not the guests'. Now that may work out for you but it might not.

Given that caution I don't know anything about Oak Plantation other than that it's a timeshare resort located someplace in Kissimmee. But it does sound like a good price for what I assume to be a one bedroom villa with a sofabed in the living room area.

There are alternatives that would place you in the general SeaWorld area and keep you in a suite type hotel. Fairfield Inn and Spring Hill Suites are located on the International Drive side of SeaWorld and both offer suites or studio lodging. The Residence Inn is on Westwood Blvd (about a mile from the SeaWorld entry area) and they also have suites or studios. I also think that the Hilton Garden Inn that's across the street from the SeaWorld parking lot has some suites.

I'd guess that all of those options would price out at or a little more than your $110 quote and would put you within walking distance if your family has the tolerance to walk 15-20 minutes (much less for Hilton Garden Inn) to SeaWorld. Of course these options will only work for you if you choose to walk.

I like the Hilton Garden Inn Sea World. It's a very nice and I thought a quite reasonably priced three star property. You can walk to the park from there. They have a cute little pool area, jacuzzi, resturant onsite and room service in the evenings, and mini frig and microwaves in the rooms. We did two different three night / two day stays in the past year that included a day at Sea World. Staff were wonderful -- very helpful / super friendly. Check their website for pricing. You might want to check Expedia.com too. I've sometimes seen some pretty good specials for this property there.
