Help! We are booked at the Poly GV this June. (Room only, so no change fees) I may be over-thinking this, but I keep reading reviews about how crowded the resort and the pool gets during busy times. Since we plan on spending about 50% of our time at the resort and pools, is this going to be an issue? We would love to chill out and not fight crowds. Our other option is the Contemporary. They have availability for our dates for the Garden Wing (I don't mind not being in the Tower). Would the CR pool and QS areas be quieter than the Poly? I am at my wit's end. TIA

The Poly has a great pool for families. It is shaped as a volcano.
It also has great restaurants for families. They even have a character meal (OHana) The Poly is also connected with the monorail so transportation is easy.

All of the resort pools get crowded during the warmer weather. The Poly is a beautiful resort, and much more relaxing than the CR. IMHO anyway.

Have to agree with the PP. All of the resorts will be crowded, and all of the pools, especially in the afternoons, will be busy. Pick the resort you want to be in, not the pool.

We loved the Poly, and I'm sure I'm in the minority here, but I would not spend the extra money during the busy season unless the potential savings was not an issue. $$ is an issue for me so I do consider it. That being said, our stay at the Poly was worth the extra $800 we paid for it over a moderate. FYI we stayed there in January

I'd say definitely go with the Poly, as other posters have mentioned, all of the resorts will be crowded. I've been to the Poly in August, during free dining, and it wasn't that bad. There was always plenty of room in the pool. One of the great things about the Poly is that it is spread out a bit with many different pathways, and it never feels too crowded.

Dont second guess it, its absolutley gorgeous! The volcano pool can get crowded BUT there is the quite pool as well! You can not beat the views anywhere on WDW property if MK is your thing.. Nothing like walking out the back of the GCH and seeing the volcano pool and the beach and MK and Cindy Caslte in the distance, I use to love to sit on the beach at night and look at the castle and GF!

We were lucky enough to have a TPV CL room and it was the most amazing view Ive ever had in any of trips.. I cried the first night b/c I just couldnt believe how gorgeous it was! I was out there every morning with my coffee and watched the sunrise and at night when we got back from the parks to watch the castle change colors and even watched Wishes a few times from our balcony, they piped in the music around the resort.

My favorite memory, falling asleep with hubby in the hammock on the beach with the sound of the hawaiin music and boat horn going off.. What a terrific and romantic trip!

Stay where you are at. Remember, what ever negative reviews you read about the POLY must be read knowing that a negative review gets posted more often than a positive review. People just love to spew the negatives and thats a common natural thing.

go to WDWIG.COM. Click on accomadations..Poly...Resort Reviews. You will find nice reviews on that site...There, the postives actually outweigh the negatives by at least 8-1 ratio.

I agree with everyone else that any pool is going to be busy no matter which resort you choose. With that said, I would stick with the Poly. The resort and grounds are beautiful and you can't beat having a distant view of the castle from just about anywhere on the Poly grounds. One of my favorite things to do at the Poly is relax in a hammock listening to the boat whistles as the boats go back and forth to MK. We have loved every resort we've stayed at, but the Poly is our favorite as it's an awesome resort and you can't beat the beautiful grounds (IMO) and the view from the pool/beach is amazing :wizard:.

Thank you everyone! I do feel better. We gave never gone in June/July before so I think I got myself all worked up. We will stick with the Poly. We leave in 12 days!

I think no matter where you go during the busy season the pool will be busy. We were there during spring break and it was crowded but no unbearable. There alot of quiet pools around the resort. Alot of people sit out in the sand by the beach too, and just jump in the pool to cool off. I think you will be o.k.

We were there last June, in early June. The volcano pool was very crowded at times - people soup-like - but we never had any issues at the quiet pool. We would spend some time at the volcano pool so our son could get his fill of the slide, or whatever children's activities they had going on, and then try to get him over to the quiet pool side. A bunch of our family was all at the Polynesian, including my quite pregnant sister, and she just generally stayed at the quiet pool to avoid bumps and such. Our family and maybe one or two others were often the only ones at the quiet pool. Also, the volcano pool was much less crowded in the mornings, it seemed.

We love the Polynesian and keep going back. If you stick with it, hope you have a great trip!

You are going during the busy season.. With that said, any resorts will probably be crowded, and yes, the pools will be crowded. It's going to be very HOT.. It's summer! Everyone is going to want to cool off at the pool. So even if you go with another resort, more than likely, the pool is going to be crowded. I say.. stay at Poly. :)

We just returned from a 10 day stay at the Poly with some days in the mid 90's...very Hot! We were surprised To see the pool not as crowded as years past. The line for the water slide was never long and getting chairs were never an issue, but getting a table can be an issue if you get there late in the afternoon. Poly is our absolute favorite resort.
