Hi all,
I am debating between a GV at OKW or a 2br + studio at BCV for my families trip next year.

Obviously, the location and pool are attractions at BCV, is there an upside to the GV or a downside to the BCV idea?

Thanks,
Anne

A 2 bedroom plus a studio at BCV will give you 3 real beds and 3 pull out sofas unless you can reserve a dedicated 2 bedroom with 2 queens in the second bedroom. A GV will give you 5 real beds and a pull out sofa.

If you don't mind moving, you can do both.

We are doing both for our grand gathering in August. I love SSR but the GV points are almost 50% less at OKW. I prefer the large gathering rooms that the GV has to offer and the location & pool BVC has to offer .

There is no guarantee that if you book a studio and a 2BR that they will be close to each other. Yes, you can request it and they try to accommodate but the two villas could end up relatively far away from each other.

Whether this is a good thing or not depends on your relationship with who would be in the third bedroom, I suppose.

well you couldn't stay at BCV because it has no GV....

so your choices would be OKW, SSR or BWV.

BWV is close to BCV but the points requirement for a gv are high......

so that leave SSR or OKW.

would you be that happy removed from what you wanted - BCV?

Now I don't ever even consider a GV - because they aren't my style (I am a studio gal definitely).

but the people who do GV love them....

so there is that response too - could you go back to your normal stay in a studio or 1-bedroom after this trip....

::yes::

I think it all depends on who will be staying in the rooms and how anyone gets along.

We stayed in an OKW GV plus 2 studios about 2 years ago for my DD7's 5th birthday.

We had all DH's siblings and their families under one roof which was great because when the kids were sleeping, the adults could still socialize. When the kids woke up early we could send them out to the livingroom to play with whichever cousin was up or to eat breakfast. We didn't have anyone sleep in the livingroom. It was easier for the families with kids to do laundry, etc.

MIL & FIL stayed in the studio which was right down the hall in the same building. This was ideal because they had a place to retreat from all the noice and chaos of 6 kids.

Our friends with 2 boys stayed in the other studio which was in the same building but different floor.

Our kids loved the GV and still ask when we will be staying there again.

Disadvantges of the GV, if anyone in the group doesn't get along, then there is no escape! Tensions started getting high among the siblings by the end of the trip. :rolleyes1 Even if everyone gets along, the noise of all those people can be overwhelming after a while, especially since everyone congregates right next to the masterbedroom. Sometimes because of all the people, the kids had trouble settling down to sleep.

I'm glad we did it once. Not sure when we would do it again. If we ever travel with DH's family again (who knows? time heals all wounds and dulls the memories! lol!), we would definitely get separate rooms so that our family can have a retreat when needed.

Maybe we'll try the GV again one day when we find some people that we can travel well together with.

It's funny but one can have great friends but you know that you can never travel with them. :confused3 And there are mild acquaintances that are great travel companions. A person that that have friends or relatives that are both, is very lucky indeed! :grouphug:

Good luck with your decision and have a great trip!!!
