29th July 2015 - Disney Dream - Why Dip Once When You Can Dip Twice??

Hello Everyone!!! We are really looking forward to our first Disney cruise and can't wait to be a part of the magic of the Disney Dream!

What is everyone's #1 tip or advice for first time cruisers???? We already know about the FE, decorating the doors and bringing an item for the characters to sign. However, we were wondering if any of you had other great tips that we could learn from???

Thanks!!! :) :) :)

You will love it! This is our 3rd Disney Cruise. Dress up for Pirate Night! It is so fun for the entire family to do it!

We have never ridden the Aquaduck at NIGHT! That is a must do for us this time.

You can bring bottled drinks onboard in your carryon bag. We always bring some water bottles & gingerale to keep in the mini-fridge. It is nice to have something at your fingertips.

If you want to mail a postcard from Castaway Cay, bring small bills. They will take US dollars but prefer not to have to make a lot of change.

Thanks so much Sarah! Those are some great tips! :mickeyjum We can't wait

My #1 piece of advice is remember not to stress out and to have fun. Dont try to do everything, because you cant! There is so much to do.

Wow, your first cruise and you get to go to Castaway Cay twice, lucky you! We love CC. but always sail during the off-peak season so the water is too cold to swim. We're really looking forward to going in the summer and swimming.

Ditto here....we've only been to CC in January and mid-March = cold water! How hot do you think CC will be? Possible breeze?

Yes, I forgot, dress up for Pirate Night! We have pirate t-shirts and wear the bandanas that you get in the MDR during dinner. We also all wear the same Disney shirt on boarding day.

Riding the Aqua Duck at night and getting a Mickey bar are goals for us this cruise. We haven't done that yet, even after 5 DCL cruises. :)

Also, if you like a sweet treat in the afternoons there are cakes in the Quiet Cove Cafe that are really good. We usually stop by to get a treat when returning from shore excursions. You dont need to buy a coffee, they are in the case. Right before dinner, the cakes are replaced with crackers and olives and other lite snacks.

If you want a little pre-cruise excitement, pull up the Port Canaveral webcam and watch a DCL ship leave port. Its so much fun to hear the sail-away party going on and sometimes you can hear the ship's whistle.

OK, another good tip. If you are taking the DCL bus from the airport to the ship, sit on the side of the bus behind the driver. The sun was really shining in on the passenger side and the people on our bus looked miserable sitting in that sun.

What a wonderful idea Ajojo about the Port webcam!!! We will definitely check that out!!!:sail: Thanks for that tip!!!
