Finally I begin my trip report! (Sorry I couldn’t come up with a better title)

Cast members

Dad – Our driver who just goes with the flow

Mam – Queen of shopping

Me – Planner/Worrier

Steven - My boyfriend of 4 and a half years (and despite him sitting next to me whilst posting this, I forgot to add his name in before I posted! oops)

Adam – My 18-year-old brother, the joker of the group

Amy – My 12-year-old sister, on a mission to meet Daisy Duck

Dates – Thursday 28th July – Thursday 11th August 2011
Location – AOA Silver Villas (booked with Thomson)

Day before we leave

Wednesday 27th July - I had a full day at work, still hadn’t packed as we had spent our days at the hospital (my aunty has been quite poorly) and with other. We went to the hospital for the final time before leaving and said our goodbyes. My aunty was doing so well, although there were still feelings of guilt and my Mam was wondering whether she was doing the right thing by going on holiday.

(We got regular updates whilst we were on holiday and she finally came out of hospital on Thursday just gone. She’s very weak still but is more settled at home.)

That night we got home at around 8.30pm. I had a quick shower and got the suitcase out. I had never felt so unprepared for a Florida holiday and panic was setting in. I don’t know how I didn’t forget to take anything!

I finally settled and got to sleep at around 3am.

Thursday 28th July 2011 – Travelling day

We all woke up at around 7am. Our fight was 11.50am with Thomson from Newcastle Airport.

At around 8am we had packed up the cars and were ready to go. Steven and I travelled in his car and followed my dad as we didn’t know how to get to the airport. Being the worrier that I am, every time another car pulled in between Steven’s and my dads, I got my phone out ready for the ‘we’re lost, help us’ call! Thankfully, that call wasn’t needed.

We had airport car parking, which was fantastic and me and Steven are going to do this again next year. It’s so much easier (and cheaper) than relying on a taxi, especially after the long flight back home 2 weeks later.

Check-in was quick and easy, we were all seated together and by around 9.30am we were sat in the departure lounge munching on bacon sarnies.

(Amy, me & Adam)

The time went by so quickly and a few hours later we were getting ready to board.

I was impressed with the Thomson plane. We were in economy and all had an individual TV and quite a bit of leg room.

DSCN3399.jpg

(Steven - happy with his cans of Stella)

The flight went very smooth, apart from a tiny bit of turbulence which prompted a reaction from Amy like none of us have ever seen before. She was crying her eyes out and shouting she wanted to get off the plane! She calmed down after around 15 minutes but it was very scary seeing her so upset and panicky. We thought it may have been down to her blood levels, as she’s diabetic, but they were fine. She was just genuinely scared and I think this might have been the reason why she sat out of a lot of rides this holiday.

We finally landed in Sanford and encountered a long wait at immigration as another Thomson flight had landed not long before ours.

Fast forward around 1 hour, our bags had been taken off the belt for us (probably as we were one of the last groups to get through from the Newcastle flight) and we were on our way to get our villa details and our car.

We were allocated in Royal Palms villas in Davenport. I heard Davenport and panic set in ‘that’s so far away’ I was thinking, but kept it to myself.

It was chucking it down with rain and we clambered into the first 7 seater mini van we saw. Four suitcases and six people loaded into the van and dad tries to get his bearings. It just wasn’t happening for him so we all jumped out, unloaded the cases and loaded them and ourselves into the next mini van. Dad was happier with this one and we were finally on our way.

We took the 417 route. Dad asked if we could get to our villa by driving down the 192, as he’s used to this road, plus, it meant we could stop off and get some food on the way.

I looked at the various maps we had and yes, we could. We went off at the exit I thought was to get us to the 192.

Now, I had done a lot of planning and collected a lot of maps before we went away and thought I was all organised but I suddenly, for some reason, just felt lost and went totally blank. I thought I had took us the wrong way.

It was then my turn to panic and have a melt down. Several tears later and ‘I’m sorry’s’ and we were on the 192. I should’ve listened to my dad, ‘Laura, stop getting upset, we have not gone the wrong way so calm down!’. Turns out we had went off the 417 one exit too soon but we found the 192 in no time.

We had a quick McDonalds stop on the 192 (although I was too stressed to eat) then drove on down to the 27.

At around 7pm we had arrived at our villa location. First impressions – some of the villas on the outside looked quite run down. You could tell which villas were rental homes and which were residential. The rentals were all pretty on the outside, lawns all mowed whereas the residential homes had no lawns and their garages were always open.

Inside, the villa was lovely, 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, gorgeous pool and very modern décor. Also, it was very secure. It had shutters on the sliding door leading to the pool and the windows at the back of the villa and an alarm system which it stated in the welcome pack ‘if you have an alarm system – use it’. All in all, we liked it and felt secure in our new home for 2 weeks.

So as I’m checking out the place and trying to let people know we had arrived safe, Mam and dad say ‘ok, lets go find a supermarket’. Me in my already fragile state ‘why? It’s dark outside’. Mam says ‘Laura – we need food and water’, which I suppose is fair enough haha. Looking back, I can’t believe I was so silly. I can’t help being a worrier, it’s just in my nature to worry about everything and everyone.

Publix was only a 10 minute drive down the 27 and stocked everything we needed. We were back at the villa in no time. I don’t know why I worried so much about leaving the villa in the dark!

DSCN3410.jpg

(Steven with a giant can of Fosters)

Once we got back, everyone settled down and then went to bed around 10.30pm. Well, I say everybody – every time I heard the slightest noise I was up and patrolling. I think I finally settled at about 2am.

(Next up - Animal Kingdom)

Friday 29th July 2011 – Animal Kingdom

I woke up at 4am. I had my ipod touch with me and the villa had wifi so I was researching where we had to register the villa. It was just down the 192 at the Hotel Beds Welcome Centre.

DSCN1644.jpg

DSCN1642.jpg

(Dad & Amy)

I just chilled out and watched TV, then my dad got up at 6am saying he had a bad nights sleep. Me and dad were just going to go and register the villa as it had to be done between 9am and 11am. We didn’t think everyone else would be awake, but one by one they emerged from their rooms. We all had a quick dip in the pool and some breakfast and were ready and out the villa by 9.15am. This is the only time this happened the whole 2 weeks!

We found the Welcome Centre easily enough however me and dad were still thinking, this can’t be the fastest route to get to WDW – up the 27, join the 192 then go off at the WDW exit.

When the rep asked if everything was ok with the villa dad said ‘yeah, it’s lovely, think it’s the furthest we’ve been from everything though’. The rep looked at his paperwork, pulled a strange face and said ‘oh, erm, yeah’. At the time we thought nothing of it but…more of that later!

After 10 minutes registering the villa we were on route to Animal Kingdom.

We got fast passes for Expedition Everest then went back to It’s Tough to be a Bug, which is a family favourite. We went back to Expedition Everest. Me and Adam rode twice – this is because Amy and Mam got fastpasses but Amy didn’t want to go on anymore. Amy has been on this ride a few times on previous holidays and enjoyed it; this is where I think her funny turn on the flight made an impact on her.

We went on Dinosaur together, although Amy said she felt sick, she still came on and enjoyed it. After Dinosaur we had a little sit down in Dinoland whilst Amy went to meet Pluto and Goofy.

Amy had a Goofy pen for them to sign her autograph book with. Goofy took this off her and hid it behind his back. Whilst Pluto was looking at her autograph book, Goofy slipped the pen back in her bag without her noticing. After her photos were taken, she said bye, still confused as to where her pen was. She came over to us (and I was filming with my camcorder) saying ‘Mam, he’s took my pen’. Bless her, she looked genuinely upset!

DSCN1651.jpg

DSCN1652.jpg

(Amy meeting Pluto & Goofy)

I noticed a lot of tour groups in AK that day, but thankfully they didn’t cause any problems and weren’t chanting or behaving badly (I had read some bad things about tour groups on the boards).

DSCN3447.jpg

We went on Kilimanjero Safari then called it a day at around 4pm.

All in all, we had a successful day. The longest wait was for Dinosaur, which was around 20 minutes.

On the way home we stopped off at Publix again to get a few bits and pieces. Once back at the villa we relaxed by the pool and watched TV.

DSCN1659.jpg

(Me & Amy)

I started to feel very unwell. I put it down to tiredness and not eating anything since Thursday morning before we flew. I felt breathless and dizzy.

I skipped tea again; I couldn’t force anything down, and went to bed at 7pm. I fell straight asleep but could sense someone coming and checking on me every now and again.

Next Up - Magic Kingdom

Saturday 30th July 2011 – Magic Kingdom

I slept straight through til 7am. I woke up feeling a bit better but still not 100%.

Again, I skipped breakfast, I still couldn’t eat anything. I didn’t know what was wrong with me, I didn’t feel sick, just didn’t have an appetite.

This morning, Dad and I studied the maps and used Google Maps on my ipod. Remember us thinking ‘we’re so far away?!’ and the rep’s funny looks when we said we were the furthest away from WDW we’ve ever been? Well, on the 27, there is an exit for the I4 five minutes up the road from the villa. If we drive on the I4 for 10 minutes, we will find an exit for WDW and we will be on World Drive. Quickly as that! Now we understand the rep’s confused face!!

We went to MK at around 11am (using our quick new I4 route!) and got fast passes for Splash Mountain straight away. We then road Big Thunder Mountain (without Amy and Mam – Amy said she was too scared to ride it again).

DSCN1676.jpg

DSCN1677.jpg

We didn’t want to go to far away from Frontierland as our fast passes were almost ready to be used and we were all so hot we needed to get on Splash Mountain! We walked back to Adventureland and rode POTC, which Amy loves, then went back to Splash Mountain, another of Amy’s favourites. This was also the first time my Mam had been on and she loved it too. This may sound cringy, but I love being with someone who is experiencing something new in Disney for the first time and seeing their reaction.

After Splash Mountain we went over to Fantasyland and to Mickey’s Philharmagic. Something that is always guaranteed to make my blood boil in Disney is those who choose to stop and sit in the middle of a row. We had to change rows so many times as people had stopped in the middle of a row and as a party of 6, there was never enough seats left. We managed to get seats together just as the show was starting, but around 6 rows from the front. Although I love this show so much, I was still a bit hot headed about people not moving to the end of the rows. But anyway, onwards and upwards - it was lunchtime and time for my first meal of the holiday.

We ate at Pinochio’s Village Haus, then rode Haunted Mansion.

We decided after HM to call it a day and head back to the villa. We strolled up Main Street through the shops, seeing what merchandise was going to be must haves to take back home.

We got back to the villa and again just played around in the pool and watched a bit of TV. Our favourite TV show quickly became America’s Funniest Home Videos. We love this show.

DSCN1658.jpg

That night we had a Chinese takeaway from a little Chinese place on the 27. I think it was called QQ To Go. It was lovely. I had my appetite back big style haha!

We watched Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets before heading to bed around 11pm.

Next Up - Epcot

Sunday 31st July 2011 – Epcot

Finally, I had a lie in, 10am I woke up.

Today was Epcot day. Adam isn’t a fan of Epcot so it took quite a bit of persuasion to get him to come with us. Test Track played a big part in this. This is an attraction he, Amy, Mam and Dad haven’t been on (bad weather/breakdowns meant they couldn’t ride on previous trips). He decided to come and we were out the villa by 11.30am.

I headed over to Test Track to get fast passes whilst the rest of the group took photos. We met up outside of Soarin’, the queue time was posted as being 60 minutes, we decided to ride Soarin’ then head back over to Test Track.

The queue was actually only 40 minutes and seemed to go even quicker than that as we were playing the games on the screen whilst we were waiting.

I love Soarin’ so much, however Dad was anxious whilst in the queue, he still rode but just wasn’t keen. He said he wasn’t too keen last time he rode it as he feels like it’s easy to fall out, but was brave and enjoyed it.

We came out of the Land and had a quick sit down, Dad needed to get rid of the jelly legs haha.

DSCN1690.jpg

Then I was shocked to learn that they had never been on Journey into the Imagination with Figment!!! There was no wait, so over we went on and everyone declared ‘never again!’ Oh dear!

Over to Test Track with our fast passes and we went straight through into the TV room. I could see Amy looking nervous and as we exited the room she said ‘I’m not going on’. When I asked why she said she ‘just didn’t want to’. I said to her what they show on the TV isn’t what happens (I think she was scared by the ‘surprise test’ the crash bit), but her and Mam left the queue when we got to the front. I was a bit upset because we had wasted two fast passes but we aren’t going to force her to do something she isn’t comfortable with.

We ate at Electric Umbrella after Test Track. Amy was in a huff, we weren’t sure why. We thought she might have been embarrassed for not going on Test Track but she just wouldn’t speak to us. Adam and Steven got a Turkey Leg.

DSCN3553.jpg

She perked up a bit when she met Chip and Dale.

DSCN1691.jpg

DSCN1693.jpg

Steven, Adam and I went off on our own around World Showcase whilst Mam, Dad and Amy went to meet Mickey and the gang.

Adam and Steven met Winnie and Tigger whilst we were on our travels.

DSCN3559.jpg

DSCN3560.jpg

We left Epcot around 5.30pm after meeting back up with everyone and decided to look for a Walmart as we noticed on our map there was a Walmart on the 27. We found it just past Publix, we got all we wanted but decided to stick to Publix next time.

We spent the rest of the night at the villa.

Monday 1st August 2011 – Hollywood Studios

We were meant to be up early to head to IOA but we all slept in until 11am – DHS it was, heading straight to Rock n Rollercoaster for fast passes.

DSCN3628.jpg

DSCN3631.jpg

DSCN3634.jpg

We then quickly went on Tower of Terror (minus Amy and Mam) as it was only a 13 minute wait (spooky!) and went to Beauty and the Beast for the 12.45pm show.

DSCN3639.jpg

As we sat waiting for the show to start, the biggest storm started to pass over. It was raining very hard and was blowing onto the stage. They delayed the show but then had to cancel it as it wasn’t safe and the storm wasn’t budging. We hung around in the amphitheatre until the rain died down then headed to the Muppets, which of course had a huge queue, due to the rain.

We got inside pretty quickly though and yet again encountered the ‘sit in the middle of the row’ people. They were ushered to the end of the row by CM’s who actually had to walk over to groups of people and tell them to move. A lot of guests were just climbing over those who refused to move.

We went and grabbed a bite to eat before riding Star Tours. I was very impressed with this ride, love what you can do with technology these days!

DSCN3641.jpg

We headed over to Great Movie Ride before me, dad, Steven and Adam went on Rock n Rollercoaster. Adam hadn’t ridden this before so was quite excited. He came off and couldn’t stop talking about it. One of his favourite rides now. We would have went on again using Mam and Amy’s fast passes but we felt it still took a long time to get to the front despite having a fast pass – plus we felt a bit bad on Amy and Mam having to wait.

DSCN3656.jpg

We left a very wet DHS at around 5pm and headed back to the villa for a night watching America’s Funniest Home Videos and playing in the pool.

DSCN1721.jpg

Next Up - Islands of Adventure

Tuesday 2nd August 2011 – Islands of Adventure

Me and Dad were first awake and decided to go on the hunt for a petrol station. It didn’t take long as there was one 2 minutes down the 27.

Today everyone was up early for IOA. It was easy to get to IOA, again just down the I4.

We headed straight to Wizarding World of Harry Potter. It was fantastic, very well themed but very, very crowded. The wait time for Forbidden Journey was 85 minutes. I thought the entrance to the ride was very chaotic and the room for the lockers was tiny and a tight squeeze with people collecting their bags and people trying to put their bags in. I felt it just wasn’t well organised considering the amount of people.

DSCN3693.jpg

DSCN3685.jpg

It took around 10 minutes to actually join the back of the line. My dad timed how long we were in the queue for and it was just over 65 minutes. It was well worth the wait, such an amazing ride, even Amy enjoyed it. I was surprised she came on, but very glad she did as my Mam or Dad would’ve missed out (they’re big Harry Potter fans too).

When we came off, I had a quiet word with Amy explaining that if she could do Forbidden Journey, she could do rides such as Test Track and Big Thunder Mountain. She agreed.

Adam and Steven got in line for a Butterbeer, whilst Amy bought a Hermione wand and I got myself and Adam Gryffindor scarves. The lads were disappointed the Butterbeer did not contain any beer. I’m really not sure why they thought it did.

We headed to Honeydukes and stocked up on Bertie Botts beans and Chocolate Frogs.

DSCN3728.jpg

Our objective for today was to get on Forbidden Journey, and we did it, so we headed to The Hulk. Myself, Dad and Adam went on The Hulk whilst Steven and Amy went on Storm Force Acceleration – Steven isn’t a huge rollercoaster fan, Rock n Rollercoaster is the biggest he has done (and that’s only because it’s in the dark).

DSCN3746.jpg

We were going to try and get some of Universal done today but the wait for Forbidden Journey and the crowds in WWOHP had knocked us a bit sick and we were ready for a lie down!

Once back at the villa, we relaxed by the pool until 7 then we went to Publix (without Adam and Steven) to stock up on food.

DSCN1715.jpg

(Not enjoying Bertie Bott's Beans!)

We had the most gorgeous steaks for tea, yummy, then bed time at 11pm.

So far, so good. I knew before we came that we wouldn’t be having early starts or late nights (unlike when me and Steven came in 2009) but we seemed to be getting everything that we wanted to do done with very little waits (with the exception of Forbidden Journey).

Wednesday 3rd August 2011 – Seaworld

We seemed to be getting into a pattern, started getting up from 9.30am, hung around the pool, left the villa for the parks around 11am. Today was Seaworld.

DSCN4016.jpg

Manta was only a 5 minute wait so myself, Dad and Adam joined the small queue. Adam was most excited about this ride – me, not so much. I wanted to go on so I can say, I’ve been on it. Dad was slightly nervous too.

Soon enough we were seated and buckled in ready to be tilted forward. All of a sudden, the restraints all pop up. This didn’t help my nerves, or Dad’s, we just wanted to be away!

It turns out someone had left their cap on and needed to get out to take it off. Once again, we were buckled in and ready to go.

As soon as we were tilted forward I just felt totally out of my comfort zone. I wasn’t happy and Dad could sense that. All the way up the hill climb my Dad was just saying things like ‘strange isn’t it’ and ‘so what’s that over there?’ just to try keep my mind off the fact that I could stare straight down at the pavement.

I’m so glad Adam enjoys rollercoasters – one thing that takes your mind off what is actually happening is Adam and his ‘rollercoaster laugh’. Adam laughs his head off on all rollercoasters and it’s infectious.

Once the ride was over it was decided we would not be doing that again!

We managed to see all shows at Seaworld and ride the Kraken also, which I thoroughly enjoyed.

On the way back to the villa we stopped off at McDonalds.

We stayed up late to watch another Harry Potter movie then all headed to bed.

Next Up - Downtown Disney

Thursday 4th August 2011 – Downtown Disney/Shopping on 192

Due to last night’s late bedtime, we all had a big lie in and decided today would be shopping day. At 1pm we headed to DTD. I can’t remember exactly what I bought that day, but I do remember buying a lot of pins, 2 pairs of Toms and Fozzie Bear.

DSCN4057.jpg

DSCN4060.jpg

Again, we went to McDonalds on 192 and visited both Nike stores. Adam, Dad and Steven got themselves a few bargains.

I started to feel unwell again and had to sit out wandering around the Nike stores.

We then headed to Publix and stocked up on more food and drinks.

I had an early night to try and feel better for US the next day.

Friday 5th August 2011 – Universal Studios (and IOA)

On the way to US, Adam said that his friend had been in touch with him via Facebook and had asked him to buy him a Luna Lovegood wand from WWOHP. So, we had to go to IOA first so he could get the wand.

DSCN1872.jpg

DSCN1874.jpg

DSCN4079.jpg

We then rode Spiderman on the way out, which is one of Dad’s favourite rides.

US wasn’t very crowded. We went on Shrek 4D, The Mummy and The Simpsons without much wait.

One thing I noticed was people seem very ‘in a rush’ in US. On The Simpsons ride we were in the loading area before you go into the little room. Our group of 6 was in front, but when we got into the room before you get into the ride, I noticed a man and his daughter were in our group. Once the doors opened, they pushed their way past us and jumped in the front row of the ride vehicle.

I was furious. We were in front of them in the queue and they forced their way past us in the TV room to get in the front of the car. The man wasn’t exactly small either; he was a tall and quite wide. My dad was sat behind him and hardly saw any of the ride, which I thought was a shame.

I just thought to myself, how rude. He even said to his daughter when the ride was over ‘three times this holiday now kid!’

My blood was boiling that I started talking (quite loudly) whilst walking out behind him, about how rude some people were and how the ride was totally ruined for my Dad due to someone else’s behaviour. His daughter knew I was talking about them as she kept looking up at her dad and he said ‘keep walking’.

I shouldn’t have got myself so angry but I just kept thinking and saying how rude. I don’t know if we are in the right or the wrong, but I thought, we were in the front in the queue, we were in the front in the loading area, so surely we should be able to get into the attraction without 2 people behind us pushing through for front row seats?

Also, I feel the man should have been more considerate, because of his size, and thought ‘I’ll let my daughter sit up front and I’ll sit behind her with the rest of the adults’ considering we have Amy with us, who was probably around the same age as his daughter.

We left US after The Simpsons, everyone was fed up and tired and I was in a huff.

Adam came to the rescue with his strange sense of humour. We the Doc from Back to the Future and when he asked us all our names, Adam decided his name was ‘Cabinet’ – Why? I really don’t know. He says it’s the first word that came to his head. The Doc’s reaction was hilarious – ‘Cabinet, as in a kitchen cabinet?’

DSCN1879.jpg

Adam certainly knows how to lighten the mood.

Up Next - Epcot

Saturday 6th August 2011 – Posner Park and Epcot

We woke up quite early and visited Posner Park on the 27. It has a few good shops like Target and JC Penney, also Dollar Tree, where we stocked up on Wonka Nerdz candy.

DSCN4111.jpg

DSCN4112.jpg

We then headed over to Epcot and today focussed on touring World Showcase, however decided to again get Test Track fast passes.

We did a lot of shopping around World Showcase and in Mousegears then headed to Test Track.

DSCN4108.jpg

DSCN1897.jpg

Amy came on this time, as did Mam and they both enjoyed it. I knew she would love it.

DSCN4124.jpg

DSCN4132.jpg

DSCN4135.jpg

We ended the day early and went back to the villa.

Sunday 7th August 2011 – Magic Kingdom

Today’s objective at MK was to get Space Mountain fast passes and Amy still hadn’t found Daisy.

As soon as we enter MK, we see Daisy doing a meet and greet on Main Street! I join the queue with Amy. She was thrilled to finally meet Daisy.

DSCN4166.jpg

Mam wanted to shop on Main Street. Each time we have came she buys a gorgeous ornament to take home, this trip, she wanted a Minnie ornament. Whilst the rest of the family shopped, Steven and I went over to get Space Mountain fast passes. When we came back to Main Street, everyone was getting prepared for the parade. We waited outside the jewellers shop on Main Street and watched the parade and saw a fantastic ‘dancing dad’ across on the opposite side of the street. He was very into it!

Amy met Mary Poppins outside of the sweet shop on Main Street. Adam and Steven had wandered off inside and emerged wearing birthday buttons. Adam’s read ‘18 today, Cabinet’ and Steven’s read ’30 today’ – despite being 23. Hmm.

DSCN4199.jpg

RSCN4374.jpg

Anyway, we headed to Tomorrowland as our fast passes were almost valid. We rode TTA, Buzz Lightyear and then Space Mountain which I loved.

DSCN4282.jpg

DSCN4280.jpg

We headed back to the villa at around 5pm but stopped off the McDonalds on the way. The offer of the day – 49 Cent hamburgers – Adam/Cabinet decided to have 10. However, he only managed 7 and a half.

DSCN4294.jpg

We had a quick Publix stop then headed to the villa.

DSCN4302.jpg

Once we get in, Steven goes straight to bed. I go and ask him what’s wrong and he says he feels sick. This was around 7pm. We didn’t see him for the rest of the night.

I slept in Amy’s room that night so as not to disturb him. We watched Dunston Checks In and fell asleep.

Next Up - Hollywood Studios

Monday 8th August 2011 – Hollywood Studios

Today was supposed to be Busch Gardens but no one was really feeling up to it. The weather was awful; we were woken up by rain battering the windows.

Once the rain stopped we made a break for it and decided, Hollywood Studios it would be. Steven still wasn’t feeling well but came with us. Adam stayed home to watch some football that was on the TV.

DSCN4315.jpg

Me and dad rode TOT then we all went to watch Beauty and the Beast. Something that really bothered me was people coming into the show 10, 15 minutes into the show. I’m sure it only lasts around 20/25 minutes anyway but people were still coming in just as the beast was being transformed into the prince! It was very annoying as we were sat near the back on the left hand side and people were coming in and stopping on the stairs blocking our view.

DSCN4348.jpg

Mam, Dad and Amy were wanting to ride Toy Story. The wait was 75 minutes. Steven and I have rode before in 2009, and although we enjoyed it, we didn’t want to wait that long (last time we arrived at rope drop and rode then got fast passes). It was something Amy really wanted to do so we had lunch whilst they queued.

Steven really wasn’t feeling well so we had a slow walk around the shops then sat in the shade under the hat waiting for the rest of our group.

DSCN4309.jpg

DSCN4304.jpg

We left the park after 4pm and it started to rain again. We had a relaxing night in the villa and Steven had another early night.

Tuesday 9th August 2011 – Posner Park and Animal Kingdom

It was raining yet again so we headed to Dollar Tree in Posner Park as Amy wanted a poncho. Thankfully Steven was feeling better today.

DSCN1941.jpg

DSCN4379.jpg

We then went to Animal Kingdom and watched Festival of the Lion King then walked over to Dinosaur.

DSCN1949.jpg

We ate at Pizzafari then headed over to the safari. It was chucking it down with rain, it was probably the best time to do the safari. All the animals were out, we saw an elephant and her baby bathing and the lion was awake and cleaning his paws.

We had another stop at Publix on the way back to the villa.

It hardly stopped raining all day.

Next Up - Magic Kingdom

Wednesday 10th August 2011 – Magic Kingdom

We had a late start this morning as we all started packing up ready to leave the next day.

We headed to Magic Kingdom (minus Adam) and went to Big Thunder Mountain first as Amy now wanted to ride it. We get to the second hill climb and it stops! We were rescued by two CM’s and given fast passes for any FP ride in MK.

We end up using our fast passes on Buzz as Splash and Big Thunder were both not running.

We had one last viewing of Mickey’s Philharmagic then finished up the day with having a bite to eat then doing some last bits of shopping.

It was then back to the villa to finish off the packing.

We all had quite a late night despite having to be up and out by 10am!

Next Up - Travelling home

Thursday 11th August 2011 – Downtown Disney

We were all up on time and had the ‘if I’m going home, I want to be home now’ feeling.

However, we headed back to DTD for more last minute shopping and everyone wanted to check out Disney Quest. Adam and Steven wandered off on their own, then my Dad went off. Mam and I stuck with Amy and had a great time.

We found Dad playing Pacman then later we were found by Adam and Steven.

We left for the airport at 1pm and had an uneventful journey back. We arrived on time, dropped off the car, checked in and got through security in less than 1 hour.

In departures we had some lunch and bought some perfume/aftershave and then gave Amy the challenge of trying to spend all the little bits of change we had left. Adam collected it all in Amy’s hat and went into the shop as she was too embarrassed. He came back with a few bags of sweets and said he had all the ladies in the shop laughing at him.

The flight home seemed to go quite fast although I couldn’t get to sleep.

We landed the following morning half an hour early and then it was back to reality. It was nice to be home after a fantastic holiday.

Final thoughts

We all had a great time and did everything we wanted to do at our own pace. The parks were no where near as crowded as I thought they would be and the wait times were mostly under 45 minutes.

Although Steven had doubts about going again as it was so expensive, we have already booked for the two of us to go back in September 2012 staying at POR. Free dining sold it for us! :lmao:

Thank you to those who take time out to read this :goodvibes

Great report Laura. We always get irritated by the people who think "Move to the end of the row" doesn't apply to them as well. I think treading on a few feet while pushing past would get the point across. ;)

Really enjoyed reading your TR Laura:thumbsup2

Thank you for sharing it with us :cheer2:

Laura, what a fabulous TR! Looks like a fab trip had by all... Glad Amy was okay in the end with the rides, I'd hate to think she was missing out!
I would love to go in August - do you think you were feeling a bit rough because of the heat?

Hope you decide to do a PTR/TR on your next trip!
Xx

Wow great trippie Laura!!
Do you think you all had a bit of heat stroke or was the heat bearable??

Roll on Sptember 2012 :banana::banana::banana:
