C.Ann:

Check out www.flylady.net. That will help you with the clutter around the house, and the rest can spring forward from there.

Now, Now C. Ann and Doc you are NOT bad! This world is toooo busy imo!!! ;)
OK I know I should be doing this and that but I sit here at the computer or play video games. I do the bare minimum at times. I DO make lists because otherwise I would forget and then I get mad at myself. It is a necessity for us procrastinators. Take Saphires advice, it does work.

Also I've got you beat on the scrapbooking thing! I need to get about 100 rolls of film developed, so there! LOL:p

I'm a terrible procrastinator as well. I'm late everywhere I go, usually because while I'm trying to get ready, I'll get interested in something else, and before I know it, the time has slipped by and I realize I am late, late, late.

This drives DH nuts. He is a very punctual person. He has learned to lie to me and tell me we are due somehwere much earlier than we really are, that way we may make it on time if we are lucky. :teeth:

Oh yes, I am ALWAYS late, not because I get interested in something else, but because I procrastinate getting ready (I'm also very bad at estimating the time it will take me to get ready or go somewhere). I procrastinate getting out of bed, and I procrastinate GOING to bed. I pay late fees on my bills (but that's getting better since I use Microsoft Money now). I make lists, but then I never look at them to see what I need to do. I am REALLY bad about putting off phone calls. I have always hated using the phone. I am so grateful for the internet, or I probably would have lost touch with all of my friends.

OH, it is bad. Of course, I can't put off getting film developed. I'm always on top of that. I can never wait to see them.

Did you get that resume' out? How about we make a deal -- you send out that resume' tomorrow and I'll call a potential employer and fax some paperwork to him that I owe him (that is a tall order for me since I'm off work tomorrow and will have to go in to do the faxing). Ugh. I have to call the specialists tomorrow about two patients, and I am absolutely DREADING it. I'm also afraid I'll forget. :o

I used to be a procrastinator
but I took a time management class called Time is on your Side
that cured me
Once of the biggest things we talked about was that the early bird gets the worm - basically people in general are most productive in the morning & that getting up early is essential
I used to have to rush to get to work by 8:30am & would be late for this which would mean I had to work till 5:00pm & I always felt rushed. I start work at 6:30am & work till 3:00pm mon - friday & rarely do I feel rushed for time. I now enjoy the mornings more than I ever did. And trust me when I say I accomplish more before 8:30am than I did in a whole day before I mean it.

Also he recommended writing everything on a list that you had to do - to keep your brain empty of worrying about the list. And always put the one or two things on the top of the list that you do not want to do (he called them veggies - no ones wants to eat their veggies) and make sure you do your veggies first thing in the morning. It works I'm living proof.

I am completely different person now. That was 3 years ago. I still procrastinate on somethings but I am driven with most things. This spilled over into our home also. I clean like crazy no putting it off till tomorrow. I'm much more organized in general & on time to boot.

Maybe there is a class at your local community college or something you could take. Good luck.

Can I join the club? C.Ann and Doc, you sound just like me. How's this for procrastination?...

I got "The Procrastinator's Handbook" from the Library in April. Then I got this email notice from them:

Funny, huh?

I have since bought the book, but I haven't gotten around to reading it all.   But, what I have read is very good and I highly recommend it. Can't just read a book tho...you have to DO it. (And therein lies my problem. < sigh > ) I have gotten better tho, with the help of www.organizedhome.com .

Good to hear it can be cured! LOL, MaryAnn!

OK, C.Ann. Now I'm really stressed because I really hate to let people down. All I need to do is make a list, wake up early, and do it, right? It's SO hard for me to wake up early when I don't HAVE to be somewhere by a certain job. But I have to remember there's a pup out there waiting for that phone call so she can go have surgery.

Hey... at least I've been spending tonight looking for unpaid bills and setting up online payment accounts. Go me!

OK... I actually got my stuff done BEFORE 12:30!!! That's amazing since I usually don't get up until 1:00 p.m. or later on my days off! It helped that I didn't stay up until 4 a.m. last night chatting online.

It actually helped that my dogs started barking at me at 8:30. You know, my dogs actually know what "just a few more minutes" means? LOL! I say it every morning when the first alarm goes off, and they get back in bed and lie down until I hit snooze a few more times. :p

So, I called about the patient... had to actually call two different specialists plus call my clinic a few times. Come to find out, the dog already had an appointment set up since they went to the specialist's emergency room last night. All is well.

I called the prospective employer, and he actually apologized to ME for not getting back to me before now. I feel much better about that now. But, instead of going over to the clinic and faxing my paperwork, I decided to wait until tomorrow when I go to work. Yes, I procrastinated, but I'm, er, saving gas! Yeah!

The only failure was that I left a message with the specialist to call me back about another patient, but I didn't hear back from him. I purposely stayed offline so he could call, but I did sign on a couple of times to pay some bills. So I will have to do that while at work... what a pain. I never have a second to catch my breath at work, so I might have to skip lunch or stay late to get it taken care of. Ugh.

Now I have to make sure my paperwork is completely filled out and get to work a few minutes early so I can fax this stuff right away. I'm staying off the computer so that I can get that done.

Oh, I also hand-washed most of the dishes, paid 2 bills online, tidied up my comp desk, and walked the dogs twice today... then I took a huge afternoon nap to prepare for the upcoming week :teeth:

So, C.Ann, how did you do? Did that resume' ever get out?

That is absolutely, positively AWESOME!!!!!

Three cheers for Doc!!!!!!!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Ok, first of all, get UP early.. I am up 430 am every morning with DH... ok, the light shining and the moving around doesnt help....

Its amazing what can be done from 430- 7 am. I usually do one-three loads of wash, shower, meditate, DIS, get two kids up and ready for school.

By the time I get to work at 845... I am ready for lunch!

Really, its very very productive to get up early and get everything done...

You get so much other stuff done when you don't realize it....

OK so I sit down tonight to Dis for a while beforebed when DW comes up and looks over my shoulder at what I am reading. I got to this post and she announces " Oh yes I was going to read that yesterday but I didn't get around to it." I started to laugh and she says "Well I guess I'll read it later" and leaves.

LOL, MLEO.

C.Ann, you are cured! I don't think I've ever made 8 phone calls in one day EVER unless I was at work! Two or three tire me out, and then I need a nap!

I'm not aiming too high on my work days (today) since I can be there 10-12 hours. But I did go ahead and fax those papers including a resume' and I talked to the specialist this morning before leaving for work (because he happened to call me at home just before I left). So I got yesterday's failures taken care of. I had also hoped to call and cancel my credit card protection  , but forgot to do that. I'm only aiming for one personal call a day on work days since I hardly ever have an extra second while there. So, no big goals for me until my next day off on Saturday. (Gotta rest up from that big morning of THREE phone calls... I'm still fatigued!) :p
