CAnn, I don't know about oil furnaces but when we replaced our gas with air, it was about $4500. This was 4 years ago. I think the furnace alone was nearly $3000. Hope this helps.
I haven't had any direct experience with this product/manufacturer (I'm more familiar with others) What's the warranty? (both on the coil and the burner).
Will your domestic hot water come off this boiler or do you have a seperate h/w heater?
Did someone estimate the BTU output rating in relation to the square footage of your house?
Generally speaking...a pre installed price of $3 - 3.5 K is not out of line for a household boiler.
Serena is right Ann...it can't hurt.....that is a small area to heat....I was in this industry about 10 years ago....but...I've also had to replace our own hot air system since then....that price still doesn't seem "wacko" to me.....that warranty sounds good and in-line with what I'd expect....I hope this helps!
Weil-Mclain is a very good company with a good reputation and a good warranty. DH is in the HVAC business here in the town where their factory is located and said that is probably a fair price in your area of the country.
