................................

This is so sad. You have some good ideas, though. Maybe a neighborhood party-INSIDE someone's home???? I feel so bad for the kids.

I don't think I would feel any safer with my kids in a mall. In fact, I think I would feel less safe.

We've done the Halloween room to room thing here at our house already, LOL! The kids loved it, I let them wear their costumes early, something I normally don't do.

What I plan to do is have a party here at our house for some of kid's friends. I plan to break out the face paints, and paint everyone's faces, maybe bob for apples, and I've been looking into making sort of a haunted house for them in our basement. Anyone got any good ideas for this? My kids love the scary aspect of Halloween, so I want to make sure I can give them some good clean scary fun.

Snoopy, I'll have to think of some Haunted House ideas.

I did see some cute, easy food ideas in the newspaper today.

One was to take a pair of clear rubber gloves, put a gummi worm in several of the fingers, fill with punch and freeze. After it's frozen, peel the gloves off, and you have the perfect "icy" hands to put in the punch bowl....complete with wormy fingers!

Snoopy, kids love the feel of icky things--peeled grape eyeballs, cold spaghetti brains, corn syrup blood, you know, all those fun things!;)

Snoopy-
Go to Party City, they have really gross stuff, like brain molds, eye balls, etc. We are also going to have an inside party because we don't feel safe going to the mall either. Last year for my twins B-day party we had a fog machine in the basement(will be a problem for asthmatic children), black lights, glow in the dark spider webs, rats, etc. Wal-mart and Party City have a great selection.

We are going to ask each family to bring a dish, and bag of candy then let the kids go nuts. It has been very hard on all of them to be on lock-down, have police presence at school, soccer canceled, Halloween canceled etc.

I hope you and all of our Dis friends going thru this remain safe.

I am so sorry that the children won't be able to trick-or-treat. I think that the suggestions here are great & I think that the party Snoopy is planning sounds like a terrific idea. I am going to hold out hope that maybe this whole horrible sniper thing will be over by next week & the kids can go on as usual.

there's still hope that he could be caught before halloween. it's hard, but i try to be hopeful. :(

{{{hugs}}} to all of you in the DC area. My heart goes out to each and every one of you. I think about it all the time, when my kids leave for the bus stop, when I'm in a parking lot, etc. I keep thinking about all of the people who can't do those normal everyday things without being paralyzed with fear. {{{hugs}}}
Stay strong & stay safe!
