28-80mm Nikkor Lens( Please help someone)

Hi

Is this lens ok to start me off with a new Nikon D50 camera so I can see how I will get on or will the results be disappointing??

I have that lens and never use it. I got the Nikkon 18-70. The 28mm on the lens you mentioned turns out to be not wide enough on a digital SLR. I would start with either the kit lens (the 18-55), the 18-70 (got mine referbished by Nikon on ebay for $230) or go with the Sigma 18-125.

I bought this lense and Ive been happy so far, but as mentioned it may not be wide enough for you.

28mm is equivalent approximately 45mm lens (width wise) on a 35mm film camera.
