I hope this is ok to post here. Couldn't find another board that seemed right.
Didn't want to offend any brides in the WED/Honeymoon Board.

Here's the deal.
My DH and I are celebrating our 25th Wedding anniversary this September.
We have a bounceback ressie already; knew we wanted to go to WDW for our 25th!!

I really want to find a way to renew our vows @ Disney, but don't have the $$ to do the wedding thing through their planners.
Just want to keep it simple.
Not looking to do the whole music, gown, preacher, cake, reception, etc.

Does anyone have any ideas of how we could do this without ticking off WDW management?

I want to surprise my DH with whatever I do. He is the kind that needs to have little sentimental things done for him.
I thought renewing vows would be really a neat way to show him how much I still love him.

Our 3 DD's (23, 22, 10) plus our 2 DGS's (1, 3) will be with us.
Would like to include them all, so romantic dinners are out.
Besides, DH likes buffets only!!

Any ideas or suggestions would really be appreciated.

Thanks!!

First of all, congrats on 25 years!

I'm not sure about how you would like to do the vow renewal part of things. However, I think you have many options, especially since you have 8 going, you would qualify for the grand gatherings.

Two things that come to mind:

A fireworks cruise. You can rent a private boat to see the fireworks (wishes), I think it is about 300-500 and you can call private dining deliver treats, or any kind of food you want to the boat. Plus you could do a little private ceremony on the beach before hand, or earlier in the day when it is light out.

One thing that I think may work out nicely for you would be a dessert party in epcot during illuminations. I'm not sure of the pricing, but I know there is a minimum. However, that would give you some time to get the vow renewal in have some sweets then enjoy the fireworks.

You may want to check out the wedding/honeymoon board on here, you will be able to get more detailed info. I have not done either, but have read a lot about them on there.

Happy Planning :wizard:

Why not contact Disney and ask if they have any ideas and tell them what you dont want

I am kind-of thinking more along the lines of doing something in the park, but maybe something at one of the hotel beaches could work too.

I just don't know if DIsney has nixed all of that type of stuff outside of their official planners or if we'd be ok.

I was thinking of getting an early ressie for CP the morning of our 25th (before the park opens) and stand in front of the castle and renew our vows with our kids/grandkids with us.

Maybe one of the Disney photographers would use our camera and snap some pics for us?

There wouldn't be an officiant or anything like that, just us and a really cool backdrop!

From there we could go to our breakfast ressie and then spend the day in the park having fun.

I was planning a Hoop-dee-doo ressie for that evening as well, mainly for our DGS3.

So would Disney officials come out and can our "ceremony" or would we be safe doing something like that?

Any other neat ideas would be welcomed.

This sounds nice!

We just did our vow renewal last Tuesday for our 25th! We did want a pastor involved, so that made it more difficult. We found one that is close to WDW and he agreed to do it for us. But, he said he had been stopped before when trying to do them in open places. So, we opted ahead of time to just do it in our room.

Without any official, I think you could probably get away with it just about anywhere. With the exception of the official wedding facilities. So, a beach, or in front of the castle should be fine. If anyone were to ask, you are just standing there and talking. If someone does come up and ask, it may interupt things. But if you don't care, it really isn't a big deal.

I did get an anniversary ring for my wife. I ordered a glass slipper on top of a bed of flowers from the Disney Florist and had it delivered to the MK. I picked it up and put the ring in the slipper. I then took it to the central hub where our kids had my wife waiting, almost forcefully since she was ready to leave the park. I got down on my knee and asked her if she would do it over again. And, after the crying stopped, I got lucky and got a yes. We then did the vow renewal the next evening in our room. We went out on the beach and took pictures. We had dinner reservations at the Yachtsman Steakhouse and I had a custom cake ordered for desert. Since they knew about the anniversary because of the cake and my reservation, they had personalized menus for us. Our names and "Celebrating 25 years of happily ever after" on them. We also got a card signed by many of the characters. The menus and card I had no idea about. The cake was awesome. I asked for mickey icons and lavender and silver. Her wedding colors included lavender and silver for the anniversary. It was phenomenal and also had a white chocolate Mickey on top.

This is so-o-o-o exactly the kind of thing I was hoping someone would share!!

I was tearing up just reading this!

Thank-you for posting it!

I was thinking of having my DH go to the castle and tell him he was suppposed to be there for someone to give us something special for our 25th (a ruse, of course!).

Then my DD's and I would arrive kind of in a processional, w/ me last.

Then my DD10 would act as the "pastor" to read a passage from the BIble and "marry" us again with DD24, DD23, DGS1, & DGS2 as our bridal party.

From there we were to go to CRT for breakfast, but apparently there is private booking that day and the previous day, so that is out of the plan.

I got a CP ADR instead.

I figured on spending the day in the park, then going to the beach @ Poly to watch the Fireworks.

Any other thoughts?

Was also considering the glass slipper idea, but haven't researched that much yet.

I think Shadesof Green will arange something like that even if you're not military. Contact them.

We had a rehersal dinner there a couple of years ago and they were quite reasonable. The people who had it were not military and all I did was put them in contact with the resort. We celebrated our 23rd at SOG - we're on 36 next week. have fun

Do you mean that they would arrange something to do AT SOG?

We actually are vets, but we only get benefits during Jan & Sep as we were not in for 20+years.
