$25 Rainforest Cafe GC, enough for ds and I?

I have ordered a $25 gc for RainForest Cafe through one of my rewards programs. I will be going there with friends for dinner one night. I am responsible for 6 yr old ds and myself. How far will this go? I am ordering vouchers and park tickets through hotwire anyway, and I'm wondering if I should just go ahead and order one KLV to use as well. Can I combine a gc with a voucher? And is this too much for a meal for the two of us? I know with the voucher I will order the most expensive meal just to get the full value of the voucher....but considering the voucher is $30 some dollars, would it be better just to use the gc and order a less expensive meal? If I am spending at least $30 on the voucher alone, I figure that gives me about $55 to work with, if I use the gc($25) and make up the rest in cash($30 or so)....which do you think makes the most sense? I don't want to end up with a whole bunch of food we can't eat....
Thanks!

Go to allears.net and check out the menus/prices. I have been to RC in Burlington, MA. There I know you are fine without ordering appetizers- the meal itself is filling enough. We only ended up with extra if we did appetizers.

I think you should be fine with the $25 GC for just you and DS. At the most you would have to pay a couple dollars. I think getting the VKL voucher IN ADDITION would be WAYYY too much for the two of you.

We go to Rainforest often, there is one at our mall. I think the portions are huge. My mom and I usually share an entree (either the potroast or the steak/coconut shrimp).

I think kids meals are around $5. The potroast is around $15. So you should be fine with just the GC.

Unless you plan to order multiple beverages and/or appetizers and desserts, I also think the GC is plenty. It's probably better to pay a couple dollars cash for the extra, if needed, than to go the extra for the voucher.

I don't have any experience with combining the voucher with the GC, but I do know they would not allow us any type of discount on the bill when being paid by GC. At the time the Disney Club and AMEX each had discounts (and maybe even AAA) but they wouldn't allow it when I presented the GC for payment.

Enjoy!

The VKL is really supposed to be for lunch but I know others have reported using it during dinner hours. It wouldn't be good to find you have unfortunately gotten one of the times when the manager was less accomodating. Also, it is only good at the AK Rainforest. You don't state which but I wanted to be certain you knew it wouldn't work at all at the DD location.

Have you ever been to any RFC? I ask because they have a fantastic retail shop with the restaurant and the gc can also be used in the gift shop. Personally, I'd probably order another $25 gc rather than the $31 VKL which is more limiting imho. I'd rather have enough for dinner plus be able to pick up a cool shirt or cup or toy with any leftover than worry about not eating something pricey.

We had $100 gc on our last trip and had appetizers, dinner, and dessert (one volcano) and our meal for the five of us was really high, maybe $130. I know I was pretty surprised that it was that expensive. We were also told that we couldn't combine our other discounts (AAA & DisneyClub) with the gc which doesn't seem right since the gc is just like cash. We spent at least another $40 in the gift shop, lol. This was one of my kids' favorite meals and well worth the cost.

Thanks everyone! I didn't even think about the gift shop, I'm sure ds will want something from there! I think what I will do is order a voucher for our meal(which should feed the two of us with tax and tip included) and use the gc for the gift shop. I can't order another gc because I don't have enough points left in my rewards account...
We will be visiting the RFC in AK and from what I've read on these boards, no one has had any problems using the vouchers for dinner there, as their menu is the same for lunch and dinner.
Any other suggestions are welcome!

the portions at rfc are enormous...2 adults got more than enough food with one voucher for lunch. the 25 would also be enough imo if you got a little cheaper entree which I think you could split with your daughter ...we got the lobster on a huge platter with a bunch of rice and grilled veggies and garlic bread. if you belong to the safari club, they let us use the 10%off when we used a gc. for the amount over the gc. ( was only a few $ in our case for breakfast) but at another meal I could not use it with the vkl voucher but she put my soft drink on another bill so we qualified for the safari club 10% or a free appe.! they were very accoma-dating.
