I can't get the same price listed on Kayak.com as Airtran site..? am I doing this wrong? Thanks!
Kayak's prices include certain fees and taxes that are not in the prices you see when you search AirTran. Once you click through the prices will match.

Thx for letting us know - I'll stick to using it for counter upgrades. Know it works for that.
Maybe a dumb question, but what does a counter upgrade mean?

Not stupid at all...I want to know also![]()
This is when you checkin and upgrade to business class for a set fee. See this link. You can actually upgrade online when you checkin or at the counter.
I'm planning on trying to do this for my return flight on my upcoming trip. It's a non-stop flight and qualifies as mid-range. I'll checkin at exactly the 24 hour mark and hope for availability
I've never flown BC before but, I'm checking 2 bags. That will cost me $40. The BC upgrade is $69. If you upgrade to BC, you don't have to pay for your first two checked bags, right? So, the way I look at it - for $29, I can fly in relative comfort and enjoy a Bloody Mary (or two) to boot.
Now, if I can use one of these coupons, that would be an added bonus and the BC upgrade would cost me a net of $4. Heck, I'll eat and drink more than $4 worth!![]()
Do you like my "fuzzy" math?
It's my way of justifying spoiling myself just a little bit. Now, if I had a layover it Atlanta (like I do on my trip down), I don't think it would make as much sense.
Does anyone know...if you have a layover, do you have to upgrade both legs @ $49 each? Or, can you upgrade just one leg and still take advantage of them waiving the fee for checked luggage?
If you want to upgrade both legs it would be the two fees. You can upgrade just one but you can't do that online from what I have read, you would have to call or do the upgrade at the airport checkin counter. If you have business class on the first leg, then the fee would be waived I would think, not 100% sure though.
