24-Hour Day 2015 Tips

Oh goodness I am behind on my planning! We leave next Tuesday and DD has NO idea. I just found out my wonderful niece who is in college in Gainesville will be joining us at the 24 Hour party  and now that I am caught up on this threadsI need to finalize all the things! We are going to Disney Bound for the first time and I have Anna for her and Elsa for me for the morning of the party but no way we can go all day so I absolutely love the PJ idea for when we come back at night. *runs to target to look for cute Disney Mommy daughter PJs*

I am thinking 6 am til about noon then back to the hotel for napping and swimming. She's 9 and pretty down to party when it comes to Disney and I am really hoping we can stay in the park pretty late. I wonder if a lot of other parents have kids this age they want to run ragged for the party? Well if not it won't slow me down :rotfl2:

We are new to the 24 Hour party so I hope I am making the right calls. I guess we will need to be lined up for the bus super early too.

I'm kind of disappointed that there really isn't much information to be had about this event. Last year, it seems like we were bombarded with info (and of course we couldn't go); this year, not so much...and we're going!

My dd is 9 too. She is a night owl so I'm more worried about the early morning. We had basically the same time plan as you but now she's interested in the Disney stars so I just can't decide. I know that we need the mid day nap to make it over night and that skipping the sun in the afternoon would only help. But we are celebrating for her birthday and the 24hr day is our only park day before my hubby and son show up so she's calling the shots.

I think I would try to make the FoF parade with the Disney channel stars if she is into them. Last year there were kids there all night, I am talking 5 year olds on the little playground under the frontierland train station at 4:30am and parents sleeping in the kids strollers and kids running around. The dance parties are really an amazing part of the event, just seeing the crowd in front of the castle dancing with characters was a really neat sight that does not happen often. I guess I am saying try to hit the things that don't happen during a normal day at magic kingdom.

Me too. I think I'm starting to believe that there will be no special characters this year, which sucks for me. Meeting villains was a big part of the fun last year.

I am hoping to hear some news this week. With the marathon last week, that seemed to be the focus of the news, at least on the parks blog. Really, just a 24 hour day in MK with the dance parties will be a blast, anything else is just icing.

It would be highly disappointing if this does not have any pixie dust; last year was so much fun with some cute themed treats and characters interactions! I truly hope we here something soon, or it might be a good reason to head to bed earlier than planned once I complete my goals lol!!

Hah, if there isn't anything too special besides the Disney channel stars, I believe MK is open 9-3 am Saturday so that is an option haha.

There were A&E FP available last time I checked, if anyone is looking. They were for after midnight, but they are there. NOt sure if they have been hard to find. We met them in September and I don't feel a need to do it again unless the line is really short at 3am!

Also I am having FastPass doubts. I've got 8am 7DMT, 9:30 Under the Sea and 11:00 BTMRR. ANd bonus Wishes.

I don't think I'll NEED Under the Sea. But I figure I can change it in-park. I was going to switch to Peter Pan but I kinda want to see the new queue so I was thinking about doing it in the first hour when the line should be fairly short.

After @TandLMommy28 's post, I checked and was able to score some overnight FPs for 7DMT! Yay!!! There were multiple time slots available, in case anyone is looking.

Interestingly, I checked for some other rides (BTMRR, Splash), but it seemed like there weren't any overnight times.

@TandLMommy28 - that is what I am thinking. I'm speculating that they have had to make changes in the code/computer program to allow overnight FPs that don't count against the next day's FPs. And maybe that takes a good deal of effort? Completely just guessing, though.

@OhioStateBuckeye - I'll definitely be keeping an eye out!

Last year the characters were not announced until the Monday before the event, so there is still plenty of time. :) Disney has already confirmed they'll be in pajamas at the dance parties.

Anybody know if the Disney Channel grand marshals are for both parades, or just the 3:00? I'm seeing conflicting reports.

I've only heard the 3 pm parade.

Ah good news about the character announcement. I didn't realize that about last year, I must not have been as feverish last year as I am this year haha.

Also---for those who have gone before, is taking the bus from a Disney resort enough time to get there in time for the opening ceremony? I went in 2013 but we stayed offsite.

I assume buses will start running at 5:15 like in years past. We are staying at All-Stars. Right now I'm leaning toward driving from All-Star to MK for the opening, then whenever we take a break mid-day, drive back to All-Stars then take the bus on the return trip to MK. That way we won't have to worry about someone falling asleep at the wheel afterward. Someone in our party has never been to Disney and I think the Welcome Show is a must-see for the wow factor for a first-timer. I'm just thinking 5:15 bus arrival time is leaving a lot up to chance.

Disney world 24 hour event news at the parks blog, but no new news.

In addition to all your usual favorite characters and shows at the park, our Creative Entertainment team is also pulling together a full roster of amazing, unique entertainment experiences that will definitely make this day one of the coolest ever!

  • The extravaganza kicks off with some very special appearances in the Welcome Show as Anna, Elsa, Kristoffand Olaf join the rest of the gang welcoming everyone into the park.
  • A Flag Raising ceremony will be held at dawn in Town Square, featuring the Reedy Creek Honor Guard.
  • Some of your favorite stars from Disney Channel will be joining us as Grand Marshals for the “Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade” at 3 p.m.
  • Over in Tomorrowland, Disney Channel Club Chill takes over Rockettower Plaza Stage from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m., with DJ Frost leading a dance party with music videos from Disney Channel stars and sneak peeks of upcoming Disney Channel Original Movies “Teen Beach 2” and “Descendants.”
  • Once things cool down in Tomorrowland, Rockettower Plaza switches gears for sing-along screenings of Disney’s “Frozen” from midnight – 4 a.m.
  • There’s even more “Frozen” fun in store, when Olaf, Kristoff, Anna and Elsa put Magic Kingdom Park “on ice” with pre-parade appearances just ahead of the 11 p.m. and 1 a.m. performances of the Main Street Electrical Parade.
  • Looking to dance the night away? You can join some of your Disney pals – all dressed in their PJs – at one of two late-night dance parties. Kick up your heels at the Frontierland Dance Party, near Country Bear Jamboree, from 2 a.m. – 6 a.m. At Cinderella Castle, Disney’s “Up All Night” Dance Party keeps things hopping from 2:00 a.m. – 5:45 a.m. with awesome DJ, stiltwalkers and lots of fun party people!
  • As that 24th hour comes to a close, make your way to Town Square on Main Street, U.S.A., for a special finale moment with Mickey and the gang that you won’t want to miss.
Be sure to check back here throughout the day on Friday, May 22, as Disney Parks Blog brings you all the action, live from the “Coolest Summer Ever!” Will you be joining us? What part of the event sounds the coolest to you? Let us know in the comments.

Haha great, an all night frozen sing along. If this is the frozen event of the century they may as well let us meet Olaf and kristoff with Anna and Elsa.

I have a costume question for y'all. I've been to several of the Halloween parties over the years, and I never need an excuse to hit the parks in costume, but this is the first "Disney side" event I've gone to. While I didn't see any restrictions beyond the usual weapons/masks/appropriateness stuff, should I be sticking to Disney characters/properties for a costume? Do you see many people dressing up as non-Disney stuff for these? From the photos I can find online of prior events, it looks like there's going to be a much lower density of costumed park-goers for this than an MNSSHP, so I realize I'm going to stick out a bit more than I'm used to, and that's fine...but I don't want to completely "miss the point" and show up in a costume way off-theme.
