......................

Really, what's the big deal about dropping a day of mail delivery? What do you get on that day that couldn't come a day or two later?

I can't imagine actually getting upset about something as unimportant as mail delivery...

Agreed.
And I had forgotten about Netflix but I could still live.

Email, online bills, and the telephone.

Really, who uses the mail anymore? ;)

And for those who plan for Saturday delivery, well, you'll just adjust your delivery days. What do you do about not have Sunday delivery now? Nothing, right?

I'm telling you all, if it's instituted it's going to be Tuesdays.

I agree. I believe there is some law about no more than 2 days without mail delivery. With Mondays being holidays often, I don't see them not delivering on Sat. But then Tues would be the 3 day on holiday weeks. Maybe it will be Wed.

I thought that rule/law was for banks....

Now, I heard they were considering ending Tuesday deliveries.

This is what I heard as well. If they stopped Satuday delivery it would be too much to deliver on Monday because that would be two days without mail delivery.

I completely agree. The Saturday mail is important things that were sent out during the week, the Tuesday mail is Redplum ads and not much else as nobody mails things out on Saturday to arrive on Tuesday.

The PO makes millions of dollars a day to from newspapers, so any day cut will hurt their bottom line.

I heard that too...

I wonder why they would choose Tuesday?

We get "real" mail here on Saturdays, not just junk mail. Actually quite a bit, since I order through the internet

Do I enjoy getting mail all 6 days, definetely?
-----------------------------------

Same with me.. It's not at all unusual to have a few personal letters, a bill or two, and/or books that I've orderd on the internet to arrive on Saturdays..

I do too - since it's not just junk mail in my case..:thumbsup2

While I enjoy getting mail 6 days a week, I don't enjoy it enough to pay more in taxes for it. Times are tough, the economy is suffering, we've all got to make cuts somewhere.
During WWII, people had to ration gas and milk for the good of the country. We might have to wait an extra day for our netflix. Think of the great stories you'll get to tell your grandchildren about the suffering you went through during the great recession of 2010.

Tuesday is the slowest day of the week mail volume wise asscording to my sister who works for USPS.

As someone else said, Congress would ahve to approve any change. So far, USPS has not submitted any change request to Congress.

Plus, no mail delivery on Tuesday would give the carriers the occasional three-day weekend, what with many holidays being Mondays.

I haven't heard that but I have noticed that for me anyway that is when I get nothing worthwhile - I get two different grocery ads and sometime an envelope of ads - and usually that is it.

No more Tuesday coupons would rock! Ugh it's so annoying to go down to my mailbox only to find junk mail...

Eh, no big deal really. I think the majority of the mail that arrives on Saturday tends to be junk anyway.
Now Netflix, yeah that would stink but it's not like we live in the olden days where we relied on the mail for correspondence.
I think electronic delivery of things such as bills, letters and such have pretty much taken over anyway.

I have to chuckle b/c the OP found out this info in a letter send through the mail.

C.Ann why don't you pick up the phone and call her instead of having someone else make the calls?
