C. Ann, I know you must be so very frustrated right about now but please don't give up. It seems the health department will be releasing 10 million vaccines next week.

Do not give up C.Ann, believe your turn is around the corner!!

On our way to NC to visit our grands Friday, to my surprise I noticed a Walgreen's Drug Store with 'H1N1 shots available' on big bill board blinking sign, so we stopped. Seems they'd gotten their supply on Friday Oct 30. There was only one person in line, so I inquired about priority. Luckily I was eligible, so filled out necessary paper work. She gave me the shot, I pd. $18 and waited 10 minutes to see if any reaction. Had no reaction, not even swelling or soreness, as sometimes I'll have with my reg flu shot.

One thing I noticed on pre screening form that has changed, was only children between 14 - 24 were eligible. I thought it was 2yo and up, but 2 was covered by 14yo. Perhaps it's possible to vary state to state :confused3. I know it's worrisome to wait and wonder, but I honestly feel soon there will be plenty of H1N1 for those who need.
Keep the faith, believe that soon it will be available for your family. Good luck and take care. :flower3:

I hope you get your vaccine. In the mean time to help stave off illness you can increase your vitamin D intake. This boosts your immune system. Check with your physician to see if you can do this. HTH.

C.Ann, I know exactly how you feel! I'm in the exact same boat. I have to fly in a couple weeks to see one of my doctors and I'm scared stiff. I pick up everything! And of course he's in LA, so I made plans to go to DL. I may have to change that, which would mean a second canceled Disney trip this year alone. :sad1::sad2:I have serious health issues and we've been issued so few doses I'm actually NOT in the first priority group only pregnant women, children, and healthcare workers can get it. No high risk adults can get it. It's so frustrating when I see reports on here of people getting their second dose and we haven't even got our first.

My father finially got his H1N1 shot today, he's high risk, having a kidney transplant and catches everything that comes his direction. The doctor's front desk told my mother no at first that it's only for children, pregnant women and health care workers and she asked her to please check with the doctor. Within a couple of hours she gets a return call from the office stating she spoke with the doctor and yes he's high risk and come in for the shot. They gave it to my father but my mother still has to wait for hers.

last week when my nephew 14 went for a physical he was able to get the regular flu shot but not H1N1 shot (I have no idea about mist since he has asthma). The pediatrician said that they only had two doses left and it was for 2-9 year olds first but to call this week to see if more was availible. My sil called yesterday and they had plenty in stock open to any patient so he got his H1N1 shot yesterday. My kids got their shots there a few weeks ago.

Thanks for the suggestions and encouragement.. I know I'm being whiney, but I'm just so far beyond frustrated I'm at the point where I just don't care anymore..

For now I'll just stay isolated here at the lake - for as long as I possibly can - or at least until my DGD can be vaccinated..

Sorry for the "pity party".. Seeing that sign and getting so excited - only to have my hopes dashed - really did a number on me.. :guilty:

Hey, no need to apologize, sometimes the best party to be invited to is a pity party.... well as long as I'm invited.;)

I hope you get your vaccine soon so you can get back to your DD, DGD and DSIL.

Praise God may help be on the way! I am so glad the shots are looking up for you dear friend :goodvibes! Can you set up an tenative appt with your own dr now, specailly with your risks, ask to be approved for a priority list? Thanksgiving is all about family and here's hoping you'll all be together for holdiays

BTW how's your DD, hope she's feeling better. My DH is currently undergoing liver testing from his terrible virus couple mos back, so I share your concern. Meanwhile, thinking postive and keeping the faith! :flower3:

C.Ann, I hope it works out of you! I feel your frustration. I just spent an hour and a half trying to get an appointment time for next week to get mine. Success!!!! Hopefully they'll still have the shot when I get there. I can't do the mist. I really hope you're able to get it.

I would make the appt NOW. Try and get as close to the time he is getting back. The longer you wait your chances will go down.

Not sure if I should get my hopes up again or not, but I just spoke with my doctors office and they have BOTH shots available - seasonal and H1N1.. Unfortunately my doctor is on vacation right now and won't be back until next week - and they are only giving the shots to patients who are high risk.. When I explained what my risks were (this is a new office that my doctor recently moved to), I was told that I definitely qualify..:thumbsup2

However, the shots have to be approved and administered by my own doctor, so I'll have to wait until next week to set up an appointment..

PLEASE keep your fingers crossed that this does not fall through.. If I'm able to get the shots, then I can return to my DD's just about in time for Thanksgiving..:yay:

How wonderful to be able to have Thanksgiving at home with your family.:thumbsup2 I'm keeping my fingers crossed and saying a prayer that you get the shot next week.

DD is feeling quite a bit better now.. She had blood work done again yesterday - second time this week - to check on her liver and I think her follow-up with the gastro is next week.. At that time he will decide how they are going to proceed..

Here's hoping your DH gets good results from his test - the waiting is the worst part.. Did they ever determine what that virus was and how he got it?

My doctor is only there 2 days a week, so I'm hoping I can get in Tuesday or Friday.. SO glad that you were able to track down this elusive shot as well..:thumbsup2[/I][/B]

Thx C.Ann, I appreciate it . Glad to hear your DD is feeling better and sending prayers things look up for her. :grouphug:

No, sadly we never learned what DH's virus was :guilty:. However, he hasn't been up to par lately, hense, is undergoing testing by gastro. Thankfully DH is a very positive person, which in turn truly helps me and the children, also knowing it's all in God's hands brings us great comfort. I know it will all work out, like you said, it's the waiting! :(

I can't do the mist either - that's why I specifically asked about the shots.. Tomorrow morning I'm going to call for an appointment first thing.. My doctor is only there 2 days a week, so I'm hoping I can get in Tuesday or Friday.. SO glad that you were able to track down this elusive shot as well..:thumbsup2

Thanks! I was freaking out so bad this morning I had to break out the ativan. It was stupid how they did it, you had to log in to their website (which they didn't have enough servers) and then you'd get in and it would kick you back out again. It was HORRIBLE. But I have my appointment for next Tuesday, so I'm ready. At least it'll give me 6 days before I have to fly so here's to hoping I get at least a little immunity from it...

I'm hoping my vitamin D regimen will keep me somewhat healthy. It seems like when I forget to take it, I get sick again.

I'll keep my fingers crossed tomorrow that you get your appointment.:hug:
