23 Nights, 40 ADRS, too many food pics to count!! COMPLETED 01/22!

The Strawberries and Cream dessert at AP is to die for. I had it in May and it was fantastic. Great review and totally jealous of the length of your trip!

Really enjoy your reviews. Can't wait to read more. Hope you are enjoying your trip.

Thank you, we're having a great time on this trip, can't believe we've only got 4 nights left.

I have dreams about the soup at Artist Point. To die for!

It is that good, so creamy, but the flavour is so intense.

It was really good, perfectly balanced flavour, and reasonably light after a filling meal.

It doesn't matter how long the trip is, it's never long enough. It just goes over so fast, I can't believe we're on our 20th night, it only feels like a week or so since we were arriving at MCO airport!

We were having a late start today so had booked Captains Grille for breakfast. We’d never been to this restaurant before, but as we were staying right next door we decided to give it a try.

We arrived at 8:40 for our 8:45 reservation, and were seated immediately as the place was only around a quarter full.

You can either order of the menu or have the buffet here, and we decided to choose the buffet. Our server greeted us quickly and brought coffee and orange juice.

The buffet wasn’t enormous but it had a decent selection, of cereals, savoury and sweet breakfast food.

For my first plate I chose Eggs Benedict, a sausage, breakfast potatoes and a slice of toast. The eggs benedict was really tasty, but the egg was cooked medium (probably has to be on a buffet), the potatoes were fried with peppers, onion and some sort of ham and the sausage was spicy, and not too greasy.

Dh had some toast, egg white and vegetable fritata, scrambled egg and a biscuit. I forgot to take a picture until it was half eaten. He finished all of this, the scrambled egg was fine, well seasoned and not overcooked, the fritatta was tasty, and included a mix of peppers and tomatoes.

For my second plate I selected some sweet items. The cinnamon bun at the back of this plate was the best thing on the whole buffet. It was served warm from a big pan, covered in sweet icing. It was gooey, soft and had a nice cinnamon flavour. The cherry danish was fresh, flaky pastry with a tart cherry filling. The chocolate pastry was also good, but with it’s heavy icing it was a little too sweet for me. The little tub was natural yogurt, honey and chunks of peach, this was good with just a little too much honey for my taste.
IMG_0703.jpg

DH had two of the cinammon rolls, cherry danish, chocolate croissant and a blueberry muffin. He also loved the cinamon roll, but two were a little too much for him, with the rest of these pastries.

Overall we enjoyed this breakfast. Service was fine, although not as excellent as it should have been given how empty the restuarant was (we waited a while for our plates to be cleared and for the check), and it was a pleasant, quiet atmosphere.

We didn’t have lunch this day as I figured the buffet would see us through too our 4:20 reservation at Brown Derby. We spent a few hours by the quiet pool at the Beach Club, then headed to Hollywood Studios around 2:30.

DHS was very quiet, there were still fastpasses left for TSM with a return of 6:50! Nothing else had much of a wait, we tried the new star tours and muppet show before stopping at the Writers stop for a double espresso and a peanut butter cookie. The coffee was good, and the cookie was lovely. crunchy on the outside, soft in the middle, plenty of peanut butter and chocolate chunks.

We made it to Brown Derby around 10 minutes early for our 4:20 reservation. We were seated within a couple of minutes, at a two top on the upper level close to the restaurant entrance. Our server greeted us quickly, and validated our fantastic package ticket.
We ordered diet cokes to drink, and decided to split a margarita flight. This consisted of 3 mini margaritas, one mango, one pomegranate, and one classic. These were good, and I loved the cute presentation. I preferred the pomegranate, and DH the mango so we drank those, then split the classic, I thought they were good value at $11.

For my appetiser I chose the brie, midnight moon and prosciutto cake. When this arrived it was very different to what I was expecting, I thought it would be crab cake style, but obviously cheese and proscuitto. Instead it was slices of savoury cake, with a similar texture to a muffin, but with strong flavours of cheese and proscuitto. It was really good, crispy crust, crumbly centre, it was a big portion served with slices of proscuitto and midnight moon. My only criticism was it was quite a dry dish, and could have done with some sauce.
IMG_0718.jpg

DH chose the Cremini Mushroom Chèvre Tortelloni with Tomato-Fennel Sauce and Shaved Parmigiano-Reggiano. This was one large piece of ravioli, filled with chopped mushrooms. The pasta was cooked al dente, but had split during cooking, meaning water had got inside and watered down the filling slightly. The sauce was tasty, but only luke warm, the pasta itself was piping hot.
IMG_0719.jpg

For my entree I chose the Duck two ways. The Duck confit was served on spinach corn amaranth and was absolutely delicious, flavourful and well cooked. The seared breast was served on sweet potato mash (very good) and asparagus, the middle pieces were cooked to a perfect pink, but the end slices were a little overdone for me.
IMG_0720.jpg

DH chose the Corriander Dusted Grouper, served on cauliflower risotto with purple cauliflower. This wasn’t a winning dish for DH. The fish was perfectly cooked and worked well with the corriander. The risotto rice was well cooked, but didn’t seem to have any real flavouring to it. The tomato coulis didn’t seem to complement the grouper, and was very thin.
IMG_0721.jpg

For dessert DH chose the seasonal fruit cobbler, with creme fraiche and orange blosson honey. This was wonderful, stewed berries, topped with a crunchy scone type topping, coated in brown sugar, and served with creme fraiche. A perfect dessert.
IMG_0723.jpg

I picked creme brulee which unfortunately wasn’t great. This had simply been cooked a little too long, and the custard had lost it’s silky creamy texture, and had gone slightly grainy. It did have a good vanilla flavour, and the chocolate dipped biscotti was crunchy and very good, but the texture of the brulee put me off and I only ate a little bit.

Overall we both enjoyed 2 out of 3 courses here. Service was good, atmosphere is nice although busy due to it being peak fantasmic package time. The restaurant never seems as upscale as the non-park signatures, but I still think it’s worth the two credits to dine here.

Yum. Talk about the perfect breakfast for a carb lover. That looked too good. The raviolis look amazing too.

:lmao:It was a long trip and we had a fantastic time. Having a few days at Harry Potter was fantastic, we took advantage of the early opening twice, and it's so nice to browse the shops while they're empty.

Enjoying your reviews!:goodvibes

Thank you.

Waiting for the rest of your report, I've enjoyed it so far.

Thank you.

Well this trip has finally come to an end and we are checking out of the CR today and flying home tonight.

We've both had a fantastic time. Our Contemporary stay didn't get off to the best of starts, when we arrived I was told they'd overbooked and we couldn't have the MK view room I'd booked. I was really disappointed, we were going to stay at WL originally and only switched to CR because a MK view became available.

The Bay Lake View is nice, but not what I wanted and being honest if that was all that was available I would have kept our WL CL reservation.

They did give us access to Atrium club as compensation, and the staff up there are lovely, but I would have preferred the room I'd booked to be available.

Overall though, that's probably the only disappointment on the trip. We went round the F&W festival on Thursday and Friday, that was really good, nice to see a few new items since we last attended in 2009.

V&A on Thursday night was amazing, got lots of pics from that meal, and we finished the trip at MNSSHP last night. I was very concerned to see it was sold out, but as we weren't into the characters it was crowded but manageable, and a nice way to end the trip.

We should be home tomorrow night, so may get a few updates done then, if not it will be Monday night. I promise the pace of updates will pick up when I get home!

Read with great interest your review of HBD as I have an ADR for a F! package there also. I must say I did enjoy your comments and pictures :thumbsup2

Have a safe trip home today. I 100% feel your disappointment about the TPV room, DH & I were booked at WL also but then changed our trip dates and decided to go for CR with the TPV which is someplace we have always wanted to stay.
What happened to you really scares me since at one point we were scheduled to stay at CR TPV from 9/25 to 10/2 and it could have been us

Loved reading your reviews so far, so sad for you that your trip has ended, but excited to read your remaining reviews! I hope you have a safe trip home.

I'm really enjoying your reviews and food porn. You are so lucky to be able to travel during F&W and during non-school holidays. We are slaves to the school schedule and have never been to the F&W event. One day, when the kids are grown and we're free to go in September/October...

I love the restaurants you picked. We're also booked to go to La Hacienda and others on your list. I look forward to reading more, esp the Universal Studios restaurants. Have a safe journey home!

Looking forward to hearing more!

Thank you, next updates are coming right up.

Thank you, glad my HBD review was helpful, hope you enjoy your dinner there. We did like CR, but there was part of me that wished we'd just stuck with our WL reservation.

Thank you. We got home safely, and will be back to work tomorrow. I can't believe it's been nearly four weeks since we were at work, it's absolutely flown over.

We are really lucky to be able to travel in the slow season. We both want to have children, but I hate crowds so not sure how much I would enjoy Disney during school holidays!

We went to Beach Club Marketplace for breakfast again this morning. We split a cinnamon roll. These were really big, nice cinnamon flavour with a good amount of icing.
IMG_0760.jpg

For lunch we had an 11:30 reservation at Coral Reef. We arrived at 11:30 and were seated almost immediately. The restaurant was quiet at this time, but by the time we left it was bustling and extremely loud.

We were seated on the second tier, but still had a good view of the tank.

To drink we both had tap water, I had a magical star cocktail, which was as good as I remembered. Pretty sweet, with a little tartness, and a funky glow cube. DH had a beer.
IMG_0769.jpg

We shared the appetiser for two to start. This consisted of two little cups of lobster bisque, two crab cakes, and two fried shrimp. It was actually really good, the bisque was served very hot, creamy with little pieces of lobster. The crab cakes were tasty, I think there was a bit of filler in there but they had a little spice to them and a good flavour. The shrimp were lovely, very crunchy breading, nicely cooked shrimp served on shredded vegetable slaw.
IMG_0770.jpg

For my entree I had the lobster ravioli, served with rock shrimp and lobster pieces. This was good, the pasta was served al dente, plenty of filling but it didn’t have a strong lobster flavour. The sauce was very similar to the bisque, so if you like that you’ll enjoy this dish. There were pieces of shrimp and lobster in the centre of the dish, which had much more flavour than the pasta filling, and were mostly good with the exception of a few chewy pieces of shrimp. Overall I enjoyed this.
IMG_0774.jpg

DH chose the salmon served on lemon and pea risotto. This was a really good dish, the salmon was served medium, and was a nice piece of fish. The risotto was cooked perfectly and had a really fresh flavour to it, with the combination of pea, lemon and mint. A very nice entree, well balanced with good flavour.
IMG_0775.jpg

For the first time on the trip I had room for dessert so we each decided to order one. I had the chocolate wave, which was very nice as usual. Crunchy on outside, soft fondant inside, with a liquid centre, the richness of the chocolate worked well with the raspberry icecream, which had a very strong raspberry taste and was my favourite part of the dish.
IMG_0783.jpg

DH chose the baileys and jack daniels mousse. He liked this, you couldn’t pick up any strong baileys flavour, but you could taste a little whisky in the chocolate part of the mousse. It was smooth in texture, topped with a tuile biscuit and chocolate pearls. An enjoyable end to the meal.
IMG_0784.jpg

We both liked our meal here. Service was fine, but I’m glad we ate early before the restaurant got very busy and loud.
