Oh! What if you just have a solid white fondant cake, but find a thick, zebra striped ribbon to place along the bottoms of the tiers? You could even layer it with an wider pink ribbon underneath it. Like this:

Just hafta find the proper ribbon and let Disney make the topper. :thumbsup2

:thumbsup2

What a great way to get the look you are going for, hopefully for a lot less money!

Make sure there is enough wine then because I plan on drinking believe me. For once I don't have to watch everyone around me drinking while I can't join in:lmao::lmao:

That's why I said beer and wine...I knew there would be something for us!!:rotfl:

Perhaps on the invites you can include BYOB? :rotfl: But yes, cutting alcohol is an easy way to cut pricing!

And no problem for drawing! Keeps me from writing papers! :rotfl: And as for the ribbon, I would just send your planner an e-mail and ask. If you get it and mail it down, you can ensure you get the right colors you want. But you never know, the bakery may have a stash of ribbon to choose from!

I do like it...I liked that our original one wasn't terribly traditional. But for that price:scared1: I like what you guys picked out

I wonder if I would have to get it or if I just say I want zebra ribbon would Disney floral get it??:confused3

BTW Sarah, you rock for drawing me that picture.

You could probably email them Sarah's drawing to show them. I think that idea looks great.

Lol ok that's taking it a bit far!! Lol.

I'll have to check on the ribbon from DFTW...but I do like it!

My wedding we were only allowed to have wine from the winery we had our wedding at. So we didn't have any beer or liquour. Pat's friends learned to love wine. Beer and wine would totally work:goodvibes

Aww, but you could change the favors to flasks and hand them out early so the guests can fill 'em up! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: I kid, I kid. Just trying to make a sad money situation fun! ;)

I was under the impression you all headed over together. Sorry. Can you take 1/2 hour off cocktail & 1/2 hour off reception?

Because my other suggestion was cutting the transportation and just riding over with everyone. It's usually more fun being with the group. I know so many brides that have ditched their car and jumped in with the group because they were missing out on laughs and fun.

Beer & wine only is a good idea. Hard liquor isn't needed. I can't believe how much they charge you for a soda it's insane.

Ok good. I don't want to be tacky...but just not sure we need all that liquor for only 40 people.

I just took another look at the BEO, $3000 for the WP? That's insane. Is there a way around that? Out of your 13,000 budget, that is almost 25%. I don't know what could possibly be done, but ouch.

I know you are awfully far in to make a change that drastic at this point, but are there other less expensive options?

Lol, these "cakes" are made of diapers, so that's probably why they look ugly! ;)

Yikes! Looking through the BEO! But I think there are lots of areas you could cut down. I think some of you pricing out a few different options? Is that why you have a limo and the vintage car?

I've heard the confetti cannons at the ceremony aren't so great and they make a weird noise, so you could definitely cut that easily and just buy some freeze dried petals.

runners on the table and your lamps would look really nice and I think still give you the effect you were looking for.

Wow, $20 per person for spanakopita and meatballs? How many does each person get? That seems really steep, maybe do the antipasto display for $15 per person instead? Although you do need to spend a certain amount in food and bev right?

On the bar, just look at your guestlist. If most people would drink beer or wine anyway, than maybe it would be better to go with just that. I think you could definitely cut the champagne toast. It never tastes good anyway ;)

I would definitely keep the characters. You could cut it down to just one if you had to, but I think having both would be super cute!

Beer & wine only isn't tacky at all. It's a great compromise.

OK....:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao: I think it is hilarious those cakes are made of diapers!!! I so did not see that until you pointed it out!

I just don't know what to cut...the risotto was AMAZING but how can I cut truffle mac and cheese??!?!:worship:

OK you know I love truffle mac and cheese and since I was not at the planning session (soooo not bitter:snooty: lol) I don't know how good the risotto is. But truffle mac and cheese....mmmmmm....
