I am a photographer too, and I can totally understand about your pictures. Randy has way more experience than I do, and I think I could have done a better job than that. Shame on him. I am usually such a fan of his work b/c the pics I see on these boards are pretty amazing.
As far as from a photographer's point of view, it can depend on the time of day and the weather as to what sort of lighting you get. We can't always control that portion of it. So sometimes clients do get pictures where they are squinting or are too bright, and there isn't much I can do about it, except reposition them or change the f-stop. I do always try to edit everything! I am obsessive about it b/c I want my customers to be super happy! That's how you grow a business. I can't believe that he ignored you and doesn't want to refund your money. We always try to make the customers happy - no matter what. Again, shame on Randy.
At the same time however, there are times when things just click with a couple, and it is really easy to get great shots. If you didn't click, and obviously you didn't, you need to get someone else. THIS IS YOUR WEDDING DAY!!!!
I hope that you are able to get Roots, or Studio 222! I love their work and have not seen a single bad shot from them.
