I'd say I only become 'emotionally invested' in ones like you do...where I truly like the person (not someone who I've never talked to on here), or if there is a serious issue going on... not something simple or trivial...
Things like family issues, illnesses, or when strong personal beliefs are requested and debated....
but...to the best of my knowledge, I've never been 'rude' to someone for their post, unless I use sarcasm as retaliation to their rudeness to myself or OP.

I used to get emotionally invested here but not anymore. It is rare when a post bothers me. There are many reasons for that, some good, some bad.

I used to really care and now, I don't care very much. :(

I can't think of a topic here now that I feel emotionally invested in.

"I've been sucked in before by people like this and I don't appreciate becoming 'emotionally invested' in a thread only to find that it's all a lie"..

I've been noticing that response more...

Answering the question...I try to take things seriously (my whole world changed when the people around me talked about things I didn't previously believe in, and it's made my life better, and I've known people have the same thing happen after talking to me, so...), but I try to not get involved emotionally to the point where I'm worrying about them, etc.

But yes, I've noticed that response and it's odd to me. While wedding-planning, some people got very very involved with a planning journal (not here), and then suddenly the woman "died"...it was later figured out that "she" was not a she at all, but a he, and he had done the same thing on one, probably more, other message board...but this was something that dragged out for MONTHS, up to a year, not just a brief post.

I can understand being wary of being "burned", and therefore stay away from journals...but not b/c maybe possibly someone was lying about some situation at home that they've made one post about.

To answer further, now that I thought about it, I try not to get emotionally invested in anyone's business other than my own. That includes family.

I will listen, discuss, help as needed and then leave it up to them.

That's a reasonable policy..:goodvibes
