Now this cruise will be very special for me. I am retired Navy and a commissioning is a big deal!

It's the USS Fort Worth, one of the new littoral combat ships. Pretty awesome. No details on the when of the ceremony yet.

My dad is retired merchant marine... of course that tells you how old he is I took him on the Transatlantic cruise to Barcelona last May. It was his first cruise since he was out of the service. He sat on the veranda reminiscing about his sea-days. I guess you never forget those days on the ships. Of course he said the Disney cruise was so much better.

I just saw where it will be commissioned on Sept 22 in Galveston. Wonder what time. It would be neat to see that.

I actually retired from the USS Nimitz. I am thinking a writing a blog about the differences between the Nimitz and Magic.

Are there bathrobes on the ship?

For any one interested, the USS Fort Worth commissioning is at 10:00am, tickets required for admission to the pier. It will be simulcast in Sundance Square. I think Sailor Mickey should go!

Robes aren't standard in most rooms, unfortunately - and they are so heavy to pack! The suites have robes, as well as the spa...one time I had a wonderful, fantastic room host who brought us robes & other suite amenities, just because he was so thoughtful & cool! But *sigh* none since then!!

I went to the spa once and they let me wear the robe back to my room. I didn't send it back til the end of the cruise...

I will update the list tuesday night after work. I can finally get back to teaching the kiddos at work (i teach prek) now that my new room is cleaned out and organized! I can't wait for time with Mickey next month!!!!

Hello all --- been away from the boards for awhile. but i've been reading all the posts. Glad the cruise is getting closer.

i've started "packing" - putting odds and ends in a tote. They are things i won't need until the cruise and i don't want to forget.

DH and i started on the fe's. i have some more to do. is there a cut off? i'm sure i'll make a few extra, but want to make sure i have enough.

is there anyone out there who will be going on the golf excursion in Grand Cayman? DH is signed up to go and thought i would try to find him a golf partner.

Those autograph/journals are really cool! Wish i was a few years, well okay, a lot of years younger!!
