Hi David. Hope you are not having any of this snow we have here today. Karen parked the car up this afternoon got out and it slid down the street, she had to run and unlock it then get in and stop it, thankfully no other cars around.
Eventful week, also had Garden wall collapse a couple of days ago, pic below.
Don't have you down for FE so will go change that to show you are participating:thumbsup2

We are on the coast so we normally escape heavy snow. The snow you are having hasn't come as far south as us fortunately.

My wife has been in hospital for most of the week with kidney stones. :sick:We were going to Milton Keynes on Monday for the night and had to divert to the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital. She finally came out yesterday. On top of this, my daughter has chicken pox.

Yes please, add us to the FE list.

David

We are really excited about doing FE but haven't done them before so I have some questions. Does each family provide a gift for each person in each other family, or one or two gifts for each family? Or one gift per family per day?? When do we give out the gifts?

Thanks!

Hope they are both fully fit soon, at least they will be fit for the cruise now.
Added you to FE, 8 families now, anyone else?

Everyone is different with FE gifts, some just give one gift per stateroom, others give a gift to every member of the family. We usually make a small selection bag with a few items in for each stateroom participating.

As for the FE rules I am not 100% sure as we have played different ways on different cruises. I believe it was Carrie(hortontrio) who suggested FE's so if she does not mind then play the way she knows.

Oh FE's....
We did our first FE last August on our first cruise and so Im by no means any expert on it.:confused3 I sya do what YOU feel comfortable with. Family or individual...i think we all do it just for the fun of it and excitement to see what fun trinkets you get. I would love for those who are from other countries to even just give postcards, cheap enough and it gives a feeling of other cultures etc. I hope to get some Virginia post cards too cause i think it will be fun to pass them out also but we got other stuff too, some disney related, some pirate related, some plain vacation related. I just want it to be fun for those involved....any other ideas, suggestions, or any "rules" bring em on. we are all on vacay together~let's have a blast with it!!

shelbecat..
I told J that our next door neighbors will be a 6 yr old and she was sooooooooooooooo excited:banana: She was hoping we were table mates, wouldnt that be really neat!!! We have late dinner seating i know, but hopefully the kids can have someplay time together and if time permits maybe a breakfast together...cant wait!!

Hi Wayne!
I could not believe the photo you posted - one side of the stairs leading up to our house looks about the same! The winter killed it! Should be fun to have it repaired again! :sad2:

Okay, I did not start the FE's but I am someone who loves doing it! ;) :lmao:

We have been on 3 cruises and done FE every time and we never had any "rules".
Our experience was, that some families gave 1 gift, like the one Wayne does during the cruise. Others have done little gifts more than once.
Tom and I usually give out gifts once a day. They are small, mostly homemade, sometimes one for everyone in the family, sometimes there is a present for the whole family.
We had lots of Disney related items, lots of sweets, lots of vacation related items and some from the different countries people came from. It was SO much fun and we actually got quite some attention from people walking by - some even knocking and asking how one gets these "awesome pocket hangers" and gifts.

Here are some photos of the gifts we received.

and from one of our last year's cruises!

Disneeat - Thanks for posting the pictures! I think this is going to be great fun. My girls (DD11 and DD13) are really into the whole FE idea. And it's super to have something concrete to start to do now. Can't wait to meet you all.

On our last cruise I did a gift for the adults, and then for the kids. For the grown ups I did a first aid kit that I added a pooh sticker and "Oh Bother" to it (featured in Karen's pic above!) and the kids I did a pirate themed pencil sticker set. I am going something totally different this time. It will be packaged one per cabin but will be able to be divided up in to individual gifts once you open it, if that makes sense. I was staring longingly at my summer clothes today trying to decide what I am going to bring. I am way to excited, or just cold! Its snowing and 20 here in Massachusetts today!

PrinceandPrincess - We're in Massachusetts too - at least there isn't so much snow that it gets too much in the way today. The little bit that fell on our driveway has already disappeared. But I am definitely longing for spring. I always feel a little better once January comes because I know that warmer weather, while still far away, is at least getting closer!

As far as summer clothes - I am determined to be more thoughtful about what to bring. I tend to wear the same outfits on summer vacations and then in our pictures I've got all the same clothes on. Pretty funny. :confused3

Ours has all melted today too, but I heard there is more coming tonight, fortunately I work at a hospital with a garage, so I don't care how much we get since I won't have to clean it off the car! I was also working when we had the blizzard two weeks back. It was great to be working that weekend too! I am glad we are not going till August so there will be plenty of time to shop the summer clearance before we sail!

Well I haven't posted for a little bit... But as I write I am watching the evening news and they are saying we should have 5 inches by morning, and it will be snowing at 3 inches per hour for most of the day...total snow is now forecast to be 12-18 inches. :scared1:

Now some good news...I was accepted to go on a travel agents seminar at sea on the Dream January 30. It will be the first "official" 4 night cruise the Dream will go on. I am required to do a ship inspection and 2 morning seminars....oh the pain... ;) I will report all the stuff I find onboard to help you along with your planning.

Hi Rick, sounds like too much snow to me. UK would come to a standstill with that amount:rotfl:
Enjoy the cruise I am sure you can cope with a few seminars.:goodvibes

I feel your pain! :rotfl2: Have fun on the DREAM and do a thorough inspection - I guess you need to take lots of photos! ;)

Can't wait to hear back from you! Have fun! - Coach Rick aren't we going to be "kind of" neighbours on the DREAM in August? We are in stateroom no 10554.

I wish we had our assignment, we are still GTY status!

Fellow New Englanders: Stay warm, dry and safe! we are at 15 inches and counting here!
