DAY 23 - Typhoon Lagoon - 1900 Park Fare
With only one full day left, we decided on a relaxing day at Typhoon Lagoon. Arriving at the park early we joined the small queue on the bridge. At rope drop we headed to our usual place at the wave pool edge, and claimed 3 sunbeds. Our first call was to Crush N Gusher, but that was short lived as it was temporarily closed so next we went to Storm Slides. We rode all three tubes (Jib Jammer, Stern Burner and Rudder Buster) in quick time as the ride lines were very short. Next we moved to Mayday falls which is located at the foot of Miss Tilly. This is the longest waterslide at Typhoon, but it was over all too soon. Next door is Key Haul falls and again the ride line was short, so we had a ride on this one. Sue was exhausted after watching me manoeuvre the raft single handed up to the top of the ride
, so she returned back to the sun bed while me and Emma went to check if Crusher was back in action. We wasn’t to be disappointed this time and joined the lines to ride. Thirty minutes later and we had completed all three rides, so we returned back to the sun beds to chill. It was approaching lunch time and we had already decided to eat at Leaning Palms.
S: Pepperonni Pizza + Cheesecake + Water
E: Hot Dog & Fries + Chocolate Cake + Diet Coke
N: Chilli Dog & Fries + Fruit Cup + Water
After lunch we returned back to the sun beds to allow the food time to settle and maybe grab a few minutes nap, however that was short lived as the blast of the horn signalled that the wave machine was about to go into action. This time we all went together and enjoyed the waves. The session seemed to last much longer than usual, so much that we got out of the pool before it had finished.
By now the park was quite full and as we approached the sun beds we noticed that we had been surrounded by a large South American family. The lady of the family, who I would estimate at around mid fifties, was quite openly using our beds as a foot rest! however she moved her feet as we got nearer. It was then we did well to hide our amusement. Her body size was much greater than what her bikini had been designed for and she faced a high risk of sunburn in what I can only imagine would be very tender places!.
The sun was very hot, so in an effort to cool down and lower our snack credits, we had ice creams.
Typhoon Lagoon is by far our favorite water park and as time was pressing on, we decided to have a few circuits on the lazy river before bidding it farewell for this year. Getting a tube was easier said than done and we had swam half way around before managing to grab one. We left TL at around 3:30 and headed back to OKW for what is the most depressing part of the trip…………starting packing to come home.
We had booked just before Virgin had revised the Economy baggage allowance and it was a good job, since we came home with five checked in bags plus hand luggage.
Tonight out final ADR was at 1900 Park Fare, we had done this last year and we enjoyed the buffet so much that we decided to give it another go. We arrived at GF approx 10 minutes before our ADR and were given a pager when we arrived at the desk. Lots of people were waiting around, who I assumed must have been walk-ups. Within five minutes our pager was flashing and we headed back to the check-in desk. Next was the photograph, which considering the ambience of the hotel in general, the backdrop used here is really poor – needless to say we didn’t buy the photographs!. We were show to our table which was in the small annex at the back of the room. I thought that this would be quieter than sitting in the main area, how wrong was I, when the ugly sisters appeared, the noise was even more intense.
We were also greeted by Prince Charming and later, Cinderella.
The food here is one of my favorite Disney buffets, and consequently, made a few visits and had a wide selection.
Not in any particular order
Emma: Roast beef, paella, pizza. Broccoli, Mini desserts, Ice cream, fruit selection
Sue : Salmon, Salad, Chicken marsala, Apple crisp, apple crumble, vanilla sauce
Nigel: Chicken marsala, Shrimp, salmon, mini desserts, ice cream
We left the hotel (quite full) at around 20:00 with the intention of having a final stroll around DTD, however the rain was falling quite heavily and it did not look like stopping soon, so we returned back to OKW and finished off the final packing. The night was finished off with a final bottle of wine on the balcony before retiring for our final night
One more day to go........................
