DAY 12 - Typhoon Lagoon - Hoop Dee Doo Review

Today was our first visit to a water park and Typhoon Lagoon it was. Our previous planned day for TL was changed because it was dull and cloudy on that morning. Martin (burt) and his family were also visiting TL today and we caught up with them inside the park, just before rope drop. We bagged a few loungers at the edge of the wave pool and Mart and his gang were just behind, under the shade of a parasol. First ride was me and Emma on Crush N Gusher (Banana Blaster ) We had taken Martins DD- Abby along to the ride, but she didn’t make the height restriction, so Sue waited with her at the exit pool. Next we headed for the tubes and a circuit on Castaway Creek. I find this the most relaxing part of the holiday (until you reach that waterfall at the tunnel entrance!) Sorry for no water park photos. I managed to take the camera but had left the battery on charge in the room!. Next we did a few family rides (Keelhaul Falls & Gangplank Falls). The queues were beginning to build up, so we headed back over to Crush N Gusher, this time we rode Pineapple Plunger in a triple tube. On exiting the ride, Emma had one of her little nose bleeds, luckily we were passing a food hut, so I got a couple of ice cubes, held them across the bridge of her nose, and we were soon back in action. Hunger was setting in, so we made our way over to Leaning Palms for some food
Emma: Chicken Nuggets with fries + Fruit Cup + Diet Coke
Sue: Chicken Wrap with fries + Fruit Cup + Bottled water
Nigel: Pulled Pork sandwich with Fries + Fruit Cup + Apple juice
After a rest, we made our way into the wave pool for a good 30 minutes. It always amazes me, the sheer power of these waves and also how tiring it is battling with them.
The lazy river was calling again, so we made our way across to the landing. It was very busy, but eventually managed to bag some tubes. The sky was darkening and a few thunder claps were heard in the distance. Very soon, the inevitable happened and the pools were closed due to lightening being in the nearby area. Martin’s family decided to call it a day and return back to OKW, since we had a group ADR booked for tonight, together with Wayne’s family at Hoop De Doo.
We waited to see if the storm would blow over and killed a few minutes by having ice creams sundaes.
The lightening seemed to be getting closer, so we also decided to leave and head back to OKW.
Showered and changed, we had arranged to meet Martin’s & Wayne’s families at the nearby bus stop.
We caught the bus to MK were we then got a boat across to Fort Wilderness. As we had quite a while before the show, we all had a stroll around the almost empty petting farm.

Returning back to Pioneer Hall, we had a group photo taken, and then joined the queue ready to see the show. For those of you that have not been, it is crowd participation from the start, and I almost forgot………beer, wine and soft drinks. It is well worth the 2 dining credits. As Martin said in one of his posts…..Disney didn’t make much profit out of our sitting that night!. I lost count of how many jam jars of Chardonnay both myself and Karen (Wayne’s DW) had. We had a brilliant server who kept both food and drinks, continually replenished.

All too soon, the show was over, and we left the hall (some of us worse for wear!) and caught a bus back to OKW. I had a few funny close encounters with the unexpected opening doors on the bus, but I lived to tell the tale!. :scared1::laughing:

We arrived back at OKW around 10 O’clock, were Sue & Emma went to bed and I had an hour on the net, before I called it a day.

I love the Hoop De Doo and apparently everyone in your party does, too. You've made me realize, it's time to get myself back there. You snapped some great candid photos of some honest-to-goodness smiles. Thanks for sharing them.
