Mine is eggnog - hands down.. :)

DD and DGD drink a lot of hot chocolate around the holidays - much more than usual - and they use cherry-flavored candy canes for "stirrers" rather than putting marshmallows in the hot chocolate..:thumbsup2

I prefer boiled custard myself. :thumbsup2 But hot chocolate with candy canes is really good.

But my favorite is hot tea with pieces of candy cane. YUMMMMM!! :cool1:

I don't care for tea, but that sounds like an interesting combo..:goodvibes

Wassail, nice and warm next to a cozy fire. Plus, there's nothing like Boiled Custard with a fresh Christmas Cookie.

I hide candy canes year-round so I can have a cup whenever I want. :lmao: And when DD gets sick, I always brew her up a some! :goodvibes

Diet cranberry gingerale. I don't usually drink pop, but I love this stuff.

What is boiled custard? I've never heard of it.

Boiled custard to drink?

I like eggnog quite well. Hot buttered rum, too. Hot toddies. All kept for Christmas drinks.

Poinsettas are nice (champagne with unsweetened cranberry juice and a touch of Chambord).

Eggnog, champagne. I love the cranberry/gingerale mix- I drink it every night before bed-year round. I always keep gingerale on hand and add the cranberry juice to it. My son has to have it too-he calls it red gingerale.

Well, since we now do Christmas every year down in Florida - my favorite Christmas drink is Malibu Rum, Spiced rum (Sailor Jerry), and pineapple juice over crushed ice.

Captain Morgans! Same as the rest of the year. pirate:

Ooooh I've never tried it with the cranberry juice. I love Chambord and champagne though. It's also really good with a good quality vanilla cream soda. Yummy.

Milk punch
In case you're interested:

Ingredients:
3 cups good quality vanilla ice cream
1/2 cup bourbon
1 tablespoon vanilla
freshly grated nutmeg (I skip the nutmeg.)
Preparation:
In a blender, combine ice cream, bourbon, and vanilla; blend until smooth. Pour the milk punch into glasses and sprinkle each serving with nutmeg.
Serves 4.

Hmmmm.. Sounds like some of you have a very "jolly" Christmas..:rotfl:

I don't even have the eggnog with real rum in it! LOL

I drink eggnog starting the day after Thanksgiving - love the stuff!
But I also make a fantastic mulled wine that I keep warm all day Christmas day...:lovestruc

Gluhwein! Hot mulled wine - red wine, sugar, cloves, cinnamon sticks, oranges slowly warmed over the stove so it all simmers together :cloud9: I have to make it myself, though, you can't order it out anywhere.

I haven't either--what is it?

Well, all I could tell you is that they TASTE different. So I looked it up -

traditionally egg nog is raw and not cooked at all! Custard also has a thicker consistency and the eggs have been tempered and slightly cooked. Traditional egg nog is very fluffy due to the beaten egg whites and the folding of cream.
So to sum it up-the differences are texture and one is not cooked and the other is. Plus one will get you drunk faster.

But WHICH one will get you drunk faster?? I hate teasers ;)

I can attest to the thickness of homemade eggnog. Mine certainly is. You can make it with pasturized eggs if you are concerned about immune system compromise.

Oh, forgot the mulled wine! LOL. That's usually a Christmas Eve thing.

You can buy bottle of Gluwein (or however it's spelled!) and just heat it. I like the homemade kind best though.

Hot mulled cider used to be a regular Christmas drink, but you can't get good apple cider in FL so that one fell by the wayside.
