??

One word. EXCELLENT!!

ETA. I almost always choose the free shipping because in my experience, my stuff always arrives earlier in less time than they estimate. Luckily for me, they have a warehouse in central PA.

I love amazon. I have prime so I get 2 day free shipping. I have placed approx 10 order in the past week :rolleyes1 I do have an item from blck friday that hasnt shipped. I am not worried though.. we still have some time before the 25th.

I've been very pleased with them. I received one of those things about a free month of Prime and I took it, I now get free 2nd day shipping through the end of this month (yippee) which I have taken advantage of. All items (ordered black Friday or later) came before this past Friday with the exception of something I ordered that shipped directly from Sephora, it is scheduled for the net day or so. Between them, Sephora, and American Eagle/Aerie, I have done very little physical shopping this holiday season!

I did 80% of my Christmas shopping there on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. I thought it would take a bit longer with it being a long holiday weekend and 2 days before Black Friday but I had 2 of my 3 boxes on Tuesday! When I looked up the info on the remainder of the order, it said it was scheduled to arrive December 9th. Well, I got that on Wednesday! I used to be a loyal Overstock.com customer, but Amazon's quick shipping has me thinking twice about where I buy things. Especially books and DVD's since Overstock uses Media Mail for those items, which can take forever.

I wouldn't worry too much. I ordered some items on Black Friday and they showed the same delivery window as your order at first, but both orders have now been shipped and are scheduled to arrive here by the end of this week. I think they do that to see if you will upgrade from the free shipping.

The reason why Super Saver Shipping is free is b/c the time from order to shipping CAN BE longer. The long time someone else mentioned, 9-11 days before shipping, is part of Super Saver; you're saying "since you're giving me shipping for free, I can sit on my hands and wait while you get the other, paid shipping, orders out quicker."

Most of the time, in fact all of my SSS orders, arrive well before estimated time. But the times that they wait, I can't complain, b/c that's what I agreed to for the free shipping.

I do not know if this is the case, but it's possible their system is now taking into account where the fulfilment center is, and therefore it's personalizing it to that extent, as to when it will get to you.

And for the record, for states in which amazon has a physical presence, say Nevada (fulfillment center) or Washington (headquarters), etc, an item sold BY amazon will have tax charged on it. I've been informed by the expert I have in my house that Sellers don't charge tax on any shipments, but if it's coming directly from amazon, if you live in a state where they employ people, you're going to be charged your state's tax (oh what fun to have 9+% tax here, ugh).

Another reason Amazon may be showing slower shipping is that a huge warehouse distribution center here had trouble finding employees to work this year. They put out a call several months ago for 500 employees at $12-14 an hour, and could not get enough applicants. I believe they finally hit full staff late last week, and are shipping full steam ahead now. Several friends are working there for extra Christmas cash.
