2027 Points Charts Predictions

It wouldn't actually be a net savings for the average owner since most owners at most resorts book the cheapest views at a higher rate than the more expensive view. It would be a net increase of points used for a stay for actual RIV owners. I would not be for that.

There are 0 resorts that have the point charts balanced so that all room types and views book evenly. It's possible (theoretically), but it would take massive changes, increasing the cost of studios by a lot and decreasing the cost of 1BRs

In comparing to AK, the standard view rooms at AK are also a lot cheaper than the standard rooms at RIV. I would love if they changed RIV's point chart to match AKs and lowered both the preferred view AND standard view, but that is never going to happen.

Yeah overall I don't feel like Riviera really justifies its points chart - and I own a lot of points at Riviera and love the resort.

And I would love if DVC would rebalance points charts to even out studio and 1BR demand - but doing so would cause such an upheaval of the folks who exclusively book studios, it would be reported as though DVC personally went door-to-door and kicked every individual member's dog.

I think it does fine. It mirrors BLT pretty closely. BLT has slightly better location with view and non bus options (walking distance+monorail) vs just skyliner for RIV, but RIV makes up for it with just higher quality rooms, theming, dining, etc.

As someone who uses 1BR a lot I would be fine with them rebalancing it a bit! 🤣

Well, they have dealt with some similar when they raised weekdays and lowered weekends.

It caused a lot of owners who did week stays on purpose to need more points.

For me, I don’t mind the studio differences but would love to see some change between PV and RV for the 1 bedrooms…but not sure how easy that would be.

I do think the point chart is fine for the resort and for me, it’s worth what it costs.

Based on timeframe from last year, we might get it by weeks end!!

I think they should address this in future resorts, but I doubt they will... To change it with existing resorts to rebalance the points charts would be tough, likely would violate the terms of the POS, and given the studio-heavy DVC user base, would likely cause lawsuits.

If I recall correctly, the full weeks were mostly unchanged. But many folks had exactly enough for five weekday nights, and they were very very unhappy.

I think that is right. IIRC, owners were going off site for the weekends…because the point difference was pretty big.

I would love the point cost between studio to one bedrooms to be closer to one bedroom to two bedroom. Im terrible at math so please dont come at me with paragraphs of why this makes no sense 🤣🤣 id just be happy with it 🤣🤣

Based on what I remember reading on DISboards before the change, a lot of them were taking advantage of the 25% discount for cash DVC bookings on the weekends!
I did that! I liked to stay at OKW in May in a 1 bedroom for 6 or 7 nights. Weekdays were 20 points, weekends 48 (I just looked it up in the old binder). I had 250 total points and my other yearly trip was the first week of December in a 1 bedroom at Boardwalk. I knew cash wasn’t an option there. So I looked at my points and did 1 or 2 weekend nights at OKW on either member cash or AP discount. I would notice the parking lot was empty on the weekend, fill up on Sunday. By the time they changed the charts my vacation plans were different. Where I noticed the change was I was doing different resorts as they were built and stayed in mostly studios.
