2026 MMB info Announced

Does anyone else think the AP exchange isnt a horrible rate?

I'm considering it since we'll probably have a little bit of extra points and would rather have our APs for the year.

For my wife and I:
929 + tax = 987
987*2 = 1974 = value of 2 sorcerer renewals

1974 - (240 (24 OTU points) + 95 (MMB))= 1639

1639/106 (remaining number of points needed) = 15.46 per point + MMB perks

I know the knee jerk reaction to exchanges is hell no its not worth it but between taxes and time spent trying to rent them out and etc. this has me tempted. It's at least a much better exchange rate than ABD and cruises obviously.

Outside of magical beginnings, it will be the easiest and fastest way to monetize your points. If you’re paying taxes on point rentals, you’ll be hard pressed to come out ahead (and certainly not without more time and effort).

Yep we did it this year and will probably do it next year. I know @Sandisw did too.

Once you have a large number of points it makes it much easier to make the swap. No having to rent out the extra points, mess with taxes, etc. No extra 2k for 2 passes coming out of the budget after dues, etc. After the 24 BOGO OTUPs it takes just over 100 points for 2 passes. No good if you have 150 points, but if you have 500-1000+? Made it much easier to stomach.

I consider my money in the system basically gone so am really just looking at dues now. Paying $8-9 in dues and getting $15ish in a swap seems good enough for me

I’m with you. I did it last year and will do it again this year.

Are we able to buy and use the OTUP for this? If so I wasn’t aware and will definitely do it.

Question from a newbie:

I bought MMB for 2025 for the PhotoPass benefit. We take an extended family trip at Thanksgiving and always buy the PhotoPass just for that trip, so financially getting MMB for that was a no brainer.

Would any of you buy the BOGO OTUP just because, without having a specific use in mind? Make a seven months reservation, cancel, and bank the extra points? Are they that good of a deal?

I realize the answer probably lies in how many points I have, how many I think I’ll need in the coming UYs, and where I’m currently at with banking/borrowing.

Just curious to hear various takes on this, because reading some of the comments in this thread has made me wonder if I may be passing on a benefit to which I already have access.

Yes as long as you will use them, whether for a pass or a 7 month reservation.

Once you have MMB then you are getting those points for $10 each, no extra dues, etc.

If you look at a resale contract aggregator site there is not a single resale contract available that you can get points for $10 per point/yr + dues. And these can be used at restricted resorts and for the pass unlike any resale contract you would buy today. And don't require a large payment (or a financed contract) like a whole resale contract might.

It's a steal of a deal. If they continue to do it, it is almost like getting a small 24 point direct contract for a price cheaper than the cheapest resale contract. The only thing missing is home resort window for those 24 points.

I'm going to get them every year, even if I don't need them.

I'm worried that if people keep pointing out the value DVC will take it back.

Thanks for your response. I think it’s just the 7 month window that would have me hesitating for now… Looks like I need to engage in some trip dreaming and scheming to decide! 😁

Hi.. My current sorcerer pass is valid until Jan 4/26; I have a hotel reservation on Dec (made with direct points UY Feb that can’t be banked - but I might have to cancel it or rent it out)…

Can I buy MMB now, cancel that hotel reservation and use it to renew the pass? Or does the MMB calendar year have to match the UY or the AP in any way?

Thanks!

I think you have to wait until it is 60 days from expiration. So early November. But at that point I think you can use the points and renew the pass.

Though to get more out of MMB I would probably wait until next year's MMB is up for purchase, buy that and use it in early January to renew the pass before your points expire at the end of January. Then you get a whole year of MMB instead of just a couple months.

So I pretty much already know this answer to this, but im going to ask just in case, if someone was to purchase this and has multiple memberships, the OTUP benefits would only be for 12 points on one membership right, I wouldn't have this across all memberships?

Because i already bought 16 otup on one membership so I would want it to be used on whatever I could. Of course these are resale memberships so im assuming buying one MMB will not be transferred to those? Im asking for the future. If we purchase direct in March can we still purchase MMB at that time for 2026?

Also would like to point out that just because the price didnt go up this year, doesnt mean it wont keep going up uear after year.

To me this is just them getting people used to paying extra for things so when they keep hiking the price up or offer more paid perks its normal just like these blockout days on Magic keys and them blocking more days etc

Its just getting people slowly used to paying more and for that reason im not a fan. I believe before it was just the lightning lane lounge then now its extra hours for paying members only and quick lounge, right? Pretty sure that the difference between not having it and having it will continue to make it so that you pretty much have to have it to enjoy member perks the way they should be.

I am a fan of the OTUP offering so I will purchase it next year if I can because it will actually save me money. Like many others, I think its great that they offer an additional paid perk for those interested in the additional things offered, but it shouldnt affect those that dont need these additional benefits like the fast pass lounge.

MMB is for a member not the membership. And each MMB beyond member can get up to the max of 12 BOGO points per year.

So if a MMB member has 2 memberships, they can only buy the 12 BOGO OTUP on one of their memberships (for a total of 24)

But they will still be free to buy 24 OTUP on the other membership if they wish, just at full price

Ah ok so if a member had two direct memberships they could still only buy MMB once and get the 12 BOGO OTUP? I guess i would join for sure then as I wouldnt be missing out on anything. Do you have to buy it in December or can it be bought later in the year whenever you want?

OTUP started in 2010

$15pp from 2010 to 2017

$17pp from 2017 to 2019

$19pp from 2019 to 2023

$22pp for much of 2023*

$20pp late 2023 to now

*Inflation and demand were peaking 2021/2022, and possibly DVC was a day late and a dollar short making a price adjustment lol. By the time they updated the 2019 price to $22pp, things were settling down in 2023. Thus they later made the decision to lower OTUP for the first time in forever.

DVC point value changes along with Time Value of Money, and to some degree overall demand. We see going rental rates $pp inch up over the years, then sometimes plateau or even fall a couple dollars. Even with these small fluctuations the trajectory is up. That should help keep the points needed for MMB-AP somewhat consistent over the years.

Say the cost of Sorcerer Pass is $1500 after tax in 2030, and MMB was still 75pts it would work out to around $20pp (as opposed to around $16pp today). The AP went up 25%, the $pp went up 25%, while the 75pt payment stays the same.

As long as inflation and demand stay don’t stray too far from normal, I wouldn’t expect the point cost for MMB-AP to climb as the years go by. It’s not much different from how 15pts booked a $350/nt rack rate room in 2005 and today book one that costs $700/nt.
