2025 Wine and Dine

I like the artwork but I can understand the vibes it's giving aren't for everyone. Any slueths with guesses for themes? The sun instantly reminded me of Rapunzel but that definitely isn't her sun so I doubt that's the case. I can sort of see the Toy Story that @jmasgat mentioned.

Ultimately, it really won't matter to me as I'm not going to register regardless. It's just fun to guess. Unless they do actually change to a night race, in which case I would move the sun and moon to be there 😆
OnceUponaMarathon speculated the graphics looks like the Simpsons. That would be a definite no for me. I don't have anything against the Simpsons, but they aren't Disney. I know they're an acquired IP, but they're not Disney.

I was previously a skip, but with the new dates am seriously considering. Being at Disney that week in October has nostalgia for me, plus it gets the race away from Jersey week. Unfortunately, it's now the same weekend as the MCM 50th anniversary. Decisions, decisions.

Too much to hope they go back to a night race.

Wow glad disney put these dates out now so I can reserve dvc for them.. I had a totally different weekend set on my schedule.
Well I am happy I get more Halloween stuff, so yeah.
Logo I am blah on...

This, I didn’t even realize the dates until catching up on this years thread. I really wanted to do MCM, now I’m not sure what to give up. Probably will at least book DVC in a few weeks to give myself more time to decide

Crazy question: my last RunDisney event was 2004. Back then there were hotel discounts for runners. Is that still a thing? I just looked at the hotel rates for race weekend and even the moderates are over $450 a night. I know it's been 20 years so probably no discount, but I'm hoping... ?

Definitely not a thing anymore, unfortunately.

My 5 night moderate reservation for this year’s W&D actually cost a couple hundred more than my 7 night moderate reservation for MW.

You say that, but a Treehouse of Horror themed race may do well.

They’ve done a ton of races inspired by “acquired” IP in the past.

I actually like this change! We always go for my son's birthday the 1st weekend in November. But doing W&D this past weekend with my two kids on the trip was extra exhausting so I wasn't sure I was going to do next year. Now all I need to do is convince the hubby that I take a solo trip for this race and then we go back with the kids two weekends later! 🤣

After the brutality of the humidity and sunlight of the half this past Sunday, I begin to see the wisdom of moving the race slightly earlier. Yes, runners lose the bonus hour of sleep before the half, but they gain a bonus of hour of not-sunlight to run in.

I don't know if I like the earlier date. I'm still not sure between W&D or MW for next season, so I'll likely book DVC just in case.

Haven't had time to keep up with the boards lately, and so I didn't hear about this change until just now! Interesting! Honestly, this timing makes it easier for me to do the race! This year, I registered but then was unable to make the travel timing work. Huge bummer as I really wanted to do it, especially the Swedish Chef 5k.

I do wonder why they changed it. I haven't been down for Wine and Dine in a bit, but every time I did this race years ago, the parks felt reallllly busy. Jersey Week, Halloween, Election Day school holiday, Veterans Day... all of these tend to surround Wine and Dine weekend. Maybe they reevaluated their historical resort occupancy and determined that first weekend in November was already busy enough.

There is also some speculation they wanted to get it away from the NY Marathon so people could participate in both.

Oh right, interesting! So now the new W&D dates coincide with the Marine Corps Marathon as someone mentioned above. Which is also quite large, and closer geographically to WDW. Regardless, the new dates do indeed work if you want to do both NY and W&D!
