2021 Vacations?

We have a trip to Disney booked at the end of Nov. 2021. I can deal with certain things such as a limited experience and still having a mask. I will push our trip back if CT still have travel restrictions that involve 14 quarantine or coming back and taking a Covid test a few days after returning. I need to be able to travel for a week and go right back to work/school.
I am a healthcare worker so already have the 1st round of the vaccine, second is scheduled. I’m really hoping that once the vaccine has made its way through the country travel restrictions lighten.

I am also hoping to go to Aulani in June 2022 but who knows what will happen. If the rules are as they are now, no way. I can’t imagine the stress of trying to get COVID tests 3 days before for our family of 5 and have the results before flying.

End of July we will be doing the outer banks. Would like to plan something else but not sure. Disney is a possibility at the end of the year, but probably not until next year. Maybe just a couple little 2/3 day close by getaways.

As of now:

We have tickets to fly to Hilton Head, and we are staying in the DVC Hilton Head resort in March of 2021 (i'm not sure if this trip is happening, everything is "play it by ear")

We have Thanksgiving week booked in WDW for 2021 - I'm fine without any fast passes or traditionally planned things, I would love it if by some miracle, Hoop Dee Doo comes back....

Im headed to Miami next month, then Nashville in March. I'll probably add another trip to FL for April. Southwest fares were so freaking cheap, we're just winging it.

I think I'll go to Georgia if this Covid clears up. Savannah and the coast.

Nothing I need to book all that far in advance.

More than likely a week in the summer down in Destin, Fl like we always do. Maybe little trips here and there nearby. If there is fans at baseball games finally we might catch a couple. Or if concerts are a thing again then a road trip or two. Would love a WDW trip but not with the mask rules plus the watered down product at the same price point.

Hopefully getting back to Disney October 21 at Old Key West and staying until December16th. Don't know what's going to happen though if the fast passes aren't available. Probably won't be doing any other type of trip though.

OK, I’ll bite... I’m in the UK so my perspective is perhaps a little different from the majority hereabouts...

DW and I have 2 vacations staying in the UK this year - one in June, down to Dorset (12 months after our cancelled 2020 vacation at the same place), and one in September in Cornwall. Both self-catering apartments (our preference as we‘ve never really liked the constraints of a hotel). Those will hopefully go ahead with no major issues.

And then we have our Florida trip - 23 days just after Thanksgiving (which we booked back in January 2020 when the first rumors of a new flu were just creeping out of China) to celebrate the 50th. At present I think that the odds on that one happening are perhaps 1 in 5 as so much will need to change:

No requirement for face masks in airports and on planes. Not acceptable for a 10 hour trip. I can tolerate a mask for 20 minutes in the grocery store because it’s both sensible and necessary, but any longer than that and I get anxious, irritable and downright hostile

No face masks at WDW. There’s no way we would even attempt Florida wearing face coverings of any sort (think how many we would have to carry, changing them every hour or so as they get soaked by sweat and humidity). We like the Florida weather in November and December - but not with anything wrapped round our faces

Resumption of the full WDW experience (shows, parades, all hotels and restaurants open, fireworks, ‘proper’ park-hopping, ‘proper’ night-time hours, full World Showcase entertainers at Epcot etc). The whole experience is so cut-down at present that it’s simply not worth it to us

Resumption of normal park admission. I’m not prepared to pay for park tickets 11 months in advance in order to guarantee admission, nor book specific days in specific parks so far in advance (rain and thunderstorms on a scheduled park day?) and if we wait until we arrive we could in theory find no availability at all.

And finally - full vaccinations, properly taken up by enough people to create community immunity. DW and I will be first in line when the UK roll-out reaches us; we’ve scrupulously avoided cinemas, bars, restaurants, shops etc (except for essential food shopping) for the last 9 months and we won’t risk our health if we don’t believe it’s safe, on planes or anywhere else.

<sigh> Even if Disney is offering free rebooking of tickets by this coming August, when the balances fall due for our flights (providing also that Virgin Atlantic is still around by then), villa and car, at least we will only lose the (very small) deposits involved if cancellation becomes the only sensible option. We’re not getting any younger (both in our 60s) and deferring until Fall 2022 may not be possible for any number of reasons including our own medical prospects. We’re seriously beginning to believe that our December 2019 trip will prove to have been our last trip to the USA... 🙁.

I hope not! Hopefully by this time next year we are able to safely cross to other countries again to and from the US.

And we are right there with you with the return to normal services/amenities at WDW before attempting a long stay there.

We are going to Disney and Florida! We were supposed to go on a cruise in March but have moved that. I really don’t want to be stuck in a cruise ship room bc of a quarantine.

After cancelling our August WDW trip last year, we're not feeling comfortable trying that again until maybe 2022. Not happy about it, but I don't want to have to "settle" for anything with restrictions still happening. Hopefully this year we can find normal again!

We've talked about a number of alternative vacation ideas this year - from hitting National Parks out west to England, but I truly don't know if anything is going to happen this year. We're just not comfortable booking anything. Time will tell.

See, I think SO MANY Americans are going to want to go to National Parks this year that it will be anything but safe social distancing! Trust me, we want to go too, but my idea of a good time is not miles of cars backed up to get into the park as well as having to make reservations, etc. I just did a quick search for hotels near Yellowstone in June, holy smokes, can stay in a beautiful, beach front all-inclusive in Mexico or the Caribbean for that price! Part of my frustration is the unknown, just as it was in all of 2020, I LOVE to research and plan travel, but the not knowing when/if we can go is a struggle. I need something to look forward to!

I had no trouble socially distancing myself on trails at Glacier last year even with half of the park closed. What was different was that I had to get up way early to arrive at the trail heads no later than 7a. Otherwise, the parking lots were full.

I'm planning to hit some Utah parks this year.

Utah is definitely on my list, the parks look BEAUTIFUL!!

Last year was supposed to be Poland and this year was supposed to be France. Plans are a year behind because I really want to go to Poland, so we'll do that first and then talk about France. My DD really wants to go there again with me so I can see how wonderful she has explained it to be... plus we'll go to Disney while we're there.

I'm waiting to see what goes on before making any definite plans.
I also really wanted to go to Poland but I’m waiting because Covid cases are through the roof and everything I want to do is closed. I just checked out of curiosity and I couldn’t go if I wanted to anyway because of their travel restrictions for foreigners.

WDW later this month, just DH & I. Then early summer cross country family road trip to WDW.

I'm going to WDW in two weeks. I really weighed the pros and cons and other aspects and everything except my Discovery Cove ticket is refundable/rebookable if I change my mind. I had to fly for business back in November and I feel air travel with my preferred airline is safe. I booked a DVC studio so I can spend more time enjoying the room and resort and less park time. Also it's just me. I don't have to manage or look after anyone but myself and I can easily extricate myself if something doesn't feel right. I'm also pretty much isolating myself right now before I go and I can also work from home and isolate when I get back.

I also plan on doing a lot of camping this summer into the fall and buying a new travel trailer and want to get really good use of it and probably wont be doing any other travel until 2022.

NOt sure yet. I think the summer europe cruise will not happen - not sure my parents feel comfortable on a cruise this year although my dad who doesnt usually love travel is already making a list of places to go to for things are better. maybe the nov cruise which is just us and my sister. For summer I do not know what the situation is. I just got vaccinated and my parents and sister may be in one of the early groups but my husband is general public. Not sure what travel restrictions will be around. So working on ideas. I cant book anything non-refundable. If I had to choose anywhere - Japan or Iceland...

Hotels around Yellowstone, especially in July have always been crazy expensive. Most people camp though. I did a road trip this past summer hitting 30+ national parks throughout the country and it was fantastic.

I'd love to go somewhere for our 10th wedding anniversary in March, but I'm not sure we should this year. 🙄
