2021 Placeholder

My question is:

The last time we did a placeholder we had (I believe, 24 months) to use it. I was wondering if we weren't sailing until 2019 and did a placeholder on THAT cruise, would we have a chance of booking on the new ship using it? It comes out sometime in 2021, right? We can use it until 2021?

You have exactly 24 months, so it would depend on the date you booked it in 2019. A cruise in January 2019 would allow for a placeholder good until that date in January 2021.

However, I would guess the new ships will have some blackout dates when they first begin sailing.

We're booked in Sept 2019 so I'm crossing my fingers.

I called and asked DCL about place holders. At this moment there has been no decision made a bout using a placeholder for the maiden. It could go either way. With that said, she said on the assumption that DCL does allow placeholders some of or all of the benefits of a placeholder may not be used. For example, you may have to pay the full deposit minus the placeholder amount. The other thing to keep in mind is that the maidens to date, have been in the beginning of the year. Yes the Magic class was initially supposed to be in March and April of 98 and 99 but got pushed back to summer of those years because of construction delays of a ship 2 in front of the Magic. So they both were delayed. The Dream and Fantasy were Feb and March also. So going by past practice I would expect the new ships in the beginning of the year.
