2020 Thanksgiving Meals?

I think Whispering Canyon switched up their capacity or something - alerts galore were going out last week - I scored a dinner reservation which I am still so happy about. We're staying in WL - I can't wait to hit up those never ending skillets and then roll ourselves over to the elevators and face plant in our room while listening to WDW Today music.

We’re avoiding indoor dining so I’m planning to try to make Thanksgiving dinner in our trailer at Ft Wilderness. It’s going to be interesting.
If you prefer to not do the work, as I usually do, Publix has a pretty good Thanksgiving meal. You have to pick it up on Wednesday, because they aren't open on Thanksgiving. Reheating is easier than cooking from scratch though. We've also ordered from Cracker Barrel, which you can pick up on Thanksgiving Day. In recent years, we've gone out to eat, but we'll be ordering a meal for carryout this year.

I think you may be correct. I got 4 notices for Thanksgiving because I had set up multiple ones.

So I was a day off in my Oct. 29 prediction but, some of the Thanksgiving menues were released Friday the 30th.

For everyone who booked Whispering Canyon, a word about our experience.....I think it was 2016 when we went for Thanksgiving and had their special skillet. Everything was tasty (not amazing but fine—including the squeaky green beans LOL). But my family was very disappointed to find the only dessert option was (cold) pumpkin pie. I’m the only one who eats it, so nobody else got dessert. IIRC, the menu said “seasonal desserts.” And of course it might be different this year BUT if you’re not pumpkin pie fans and really want dessert, maybe pick up something from one of the park or resort bakeries to have just in case.

Thanks, that would indeed be disappointing to have only one dessert option....

I could barely eat dessert after all the food they kept bringing.

Yes, you definitely could not NEED dessert after a skillet. They never offered us seconds but we did know we could’ve requested it. We’ve only been to WC twice and were seated on the “porch” both times. The first time, the kids were small and missed all the action in the main room (evidently the porch is the quiet area). So the next time, I mentioned that to the hostess, who replied “Huh.” and seated us there again, with literally only two other tables of folks in the whole place (in the main area). I think the porch sitters kinda get ignored WRT to antics and just service in general. All that to say, if you want quiet, the porch is the place, but you may need to be proactive WRT service. It was still a nice end to our up-to-Thanksgiving stay at the Lodge!

We go to WDW for Thanksgiving week every other year. Well, except this one for obvious reasons. Most resort QS restaurants have a turkey plate offering the whole week. I LOVE turkey so I take advantage of the menu offering and usually end up having it L/D most days. Our Thanksgiving day tradition is Sunshine Seasons at EPCOT. This is the first year in ages I will be cooking a Thanksgiving meal.

Still curious about the Whispering Canyon Thanksgiving menu. Is that all they are going to say is "a cornucopia of food"? A little more detail would be nice.

This was the menu last year; I'm expecting something really similar.

Organic Mixed Greens Salad – with Washington State Apples, Cheddar, Pumpkin Brittle, and Dried Montmorency Tart Cherry Vinaigrette Dressing
House-smoked Breast of Turkey
Maple-glazed Ham
Hand-carved Oak-smoked Beef Brisket
Traditional Stuffing
Yukon Gold Mashed Potatoes
Mashed Sweet Potatoes with Brown Sugar
Seasonal Vegetables
Giblet Gravy
Cranberry Relish
Cornbread
Holiday Dessert

Still no Thanksgiving menus announced for the Disney Resort and Park restaurants!! I know they like to wait till last minute, but come on...

I'm getting frustrated at the lack of TS menus, but I noticed there are Thanksgiving offerings on the QS menus already (example, P&Js at the Fort).

Where is the porch exactly? Off the back more near Territory Lounge?

I’m honestly not sure where the lounge is!! But yes, it’s at the very back of the restaurant. Close to the bridge where the creek goes through. Seems like there is a railroad flatcar there. Near where you walk down the hallway to the quick service.

I called Disney dining this morning and they said The Wave still hasn’t announced a Thanksgiving offering. Anyone have info?

Unfortunately, only Disney Springs restaurants have announced plans for Thanksgiving dinners. I hope we hear something by the end of this week.
