Just got off the phone with disney after hours of hold time, to hear that People who have 2020 room only reservations, -(EVEN if they were cancelled multiple times) Will not get to add tickets on June 24th as speculated....so will not get to book park reservations......Until further notice, later in the year?! But non property guests with tickets can book on the 28th? How does this make sense?

June 24th will be the day that people with 2021 room only reservations can add tickets.......

I'm exausted :sad2:

I feel ya. Sorry. We have a fully paid $2500 non-refundable DVC room... and no tickets.

Our thinking is maybe it won't really matter because demand will be so much lower this year. Think about all the people who probably won't be going. It still sucks to end up at the bottom of the barrel for tickets and park reservations though.

They’re trying to limit capacity in their parks and they feel they have over sold it. Idk what you’re expecting them to do...
I'm expecting them to prioritize the large group of people that loyally book with them exclusively and pay ridiculous amounts of money to stay on property.

I understand letting vacation package people go first, then annual passholders.......But at least giving us a chance before non resort guests would have been thoughtful.

yes

It's messed up for sure.
Disney's modus operandi used to be that they guaranteed that resort guests with admission would be able to get into one park a day.

Since then they've tossed customer service out the window and replaced it with convoluted website access and reservation software that can't even get what they're saying right.

They need to go back to the standard and make folks coming in from outside the Disney bubble be the only ones making park reservations. Disney knows exactly how many people they need to accommodate at the parks who are onsite as they've make their hotel and DVC reservations for them and those numbers are one database query away. It should be all automatic. Why do they insist on increasing the stress of their guests by making them jump through hoops?

That’s disappointing...what I don’t get is I want to book my 2021 DVC trips for February and May. I don’t need a package I want to renew my AP and buy one for my DH but it doesn’t seem like I will be able to. Are they not selling AP’s anymore?
I didn’t renew so quickly since I am in NY still quarantined so I didn’t want to spend the money if we couldn’t go.

I think you can do this on june 24th if im not mistaken.

I hope so but if I renew my AP and purchase one for my DH I can use those in 2020 which they don’t seem to want people to be able to do.

I have heard that the APs may not go back on sale until 2020 tickets. I have read a few people were able to get them to renew an AP,

For DH, you could just buy a multiday ticket and then upgrade to AP when you get there? I have done that a few times.

I know it's frustrating, but guests who purchased tickets - whether it's through a package, an AP or separate tickets - have, literally purchased admission to the theme parks and Disney is trying to ensure they have a shot at using the tickets they have purchased within the capacity they have set for 2020 through fall 2021. Park operations and resort operations are separate and, as PP stated, if Disney feels tickets are oversold then they really can't sell any more right now. I understand your frustration (I'm in a separate boat where I have tickets but can't book a room right now!), but, imagine you purchased tickets already and now learned you would be shut out because Disney was now selling more tickets to guests who didn't have them yet. Disney had to draw a line somewhere. I wouldn't give up hope. Once Disney sees how much capacity they have left after this first round of reservations, they have said they will re-open 2020 resort and ticket sales.

I have a unique one. DW, DD, and myself are AP holders. DS recently turned 3 so he’s not AP and we were just going to buy standard tickets for him for 2020. We have two trips coming. A week in September 2020 and a week in November 2020. For September we had already purchased DS a 6 day pass so we are all set there, park reservations for each day. For November we were locked out of buying him tickets. The three of us, the AP holders, have park reservations for each November day, but DS doesn’t have and can’t get a ticket. We need a 5 single day ticket. Anyone seen any tricks like 3rd parties to get one?

I'd have felt fine if WDW looked at their numbers and tried to balance out the different interests by at least offering to hold 50% of onsite days. Instead, it's like oh too bad you invested $2500 non-refundable to stay onsite. So sad 🤷‍♀️ Buy your $2k tickets this week and hope they can get used in 7 months. FL could very well shut us from NJ out next winter. Or the virus could be oozing out the sidewalk... who knows how 2020 is going to end at this point, lol. But I need to throw another $2k at WDW right now because risking $2500 already isn't enough.

We tolerated the negatives already thrown our way, knowing these are tough times and WDW isn't to blame. Onsite has lost most of the perks, our resort proximity is largely wasted without hopping, SAB may be closed, no fireworks, etc. I feel like we're going the extra mile to meet them halfway but their is zero consideration coming from their end. It feels very one sided from our position.

They probably like having this mad dash frenzy around tickets and park reservations to create interest and provoke people into locking in tickets and AP renewals. Sure, maybe it won't matter in the end and there will be plenty of park reservations to go around. I just don't appreciate needing to go thru all these extra hoops as if WDW trip planning wasn't already hard enough.

Good luck with your trip. I think it probably work out for you but yes, the uncertainty is frustrating. There should be some consideration for people who already committed to taking WDW trips.

I agree with everything you’re saying here, no consideration for us and we are having to put up with a little too much at this point..hey, maybe to get us to finally cancel?.... here’s another thought, I wonder what type of issue David’s DVC rental or DVC rental store is going to Have with this problem too, they already have hundreds of pre booked DVC reservations for rent and now most likely even more, how can anyone rent DVC (or for that matter) use their DVC points that don’t have annual passes? It seems like this is gonna be a tough one... who knows maybe will let us add tickets By next week or two ? But why do I have a feeling I’ll be picking and choosing from left overs for my dates? I hope not

We have a special crying room available in the DVC-mouscellaneous forum! A safe place for you to share with equally frustrated people who have literally spent thousands of dollars and are owners of these resorts but can’t use their points or are losing their points because of this. Sorry, but spending into the six figures and visiting 2-3 times a year for the last 20+ years should qualify me for some type of priority like the passholders

I am sorry that all of this has hit you hard but how else could they have handled it? What about all those people who did invest that extra $2k for tickets already for the trip later in the year, only to be told they might not get in simply so someone else who waited gets a shot first simply because they are day guests?

I really believe that 2020 sales will open much sooner than most think and that many will get into the parks. Even today, other than HS a few days opening week, nothing sold out yesterday.

I'm sorry this is happening to you and I agree that it stinks. However I will point out that Disney doesn't sell nonrefundable rooms to guests. Only DVC rental agencies & individuals do that. So the bind you're in is due to renting DVC points at the wrong time. It's not your fault, as no one saw the pandemic coming, but it isn't Disney's fault, either. DVC rentals are not controlled by them. I wouldn't expect Disney to set policy based on the fact that an unofficial cottage industry has grown around renting DVC points. From Disney's perspective, all of their own resort guests can just cancel if they need to. People who booked via 3rd parties have to deal with the 3rd party vendor. If that vendor is unreasonable or intransigent, that's who you should be mad at.

Again, this is not your fault. I'm just pointing out that it isn't Disney's fault, either. DVC companies have not always been easy to deal with during the pandemic. I had a DVC rental in June that I had to fight the agency to get rescheduled. It stinks, but it's not Disney's responsibility.

When you rent DVC, you're renting under the same terms that owners live under. One of those terms is that you are renting accommodations. Park entry and resort amenities are not guaranteed.

It may take a couple if weeks or so, but I have a feeling that ticket sales may resume after the Park Pass system bugs are worked out and they have a better idea of who is actually going to be visiting and when.
