With all of the ships in dry dock these past few months, anyone hear if there are going to be any new stuff added to the ships or new changes they are going to make besides getting ready for covid things?

I haven't heard a peep.. even the crew over there have been good about following their NDAs ;)

The only thing I have heard - hopefully correctly - is that they have used this time to fix Fantasy's vibration issues. (And possibly Dream's too.)

If it's true, it will open up the remaining third of the ship (the aft) for us to book.

I heard that the shipyard in France specializes in that type of issue. I would also love to see it fixed because we prefer staying aft, but, on the Fantasy, we always book forward due to the terrible vibrations.

Crossing my fingers.

I don't see them making any unnecessary expenditures unless absolutely necessary. The vibration on the Fantasy is the only "unnecessary" thing I can see them getting done right now since they have all the time in the world to get it right.

From the pic one of the crew posted of the Wonder, it looked like some carpeting was being replaced in some high traffic areas. My thought is they're going to do maintenance items--carpets, fresh coats of paint, etc and whatever covid changes that are needed. No big redesigns/refurbs though.

Yes, I hope they fix vibration issues while there! We haven't yet been on the Fantasy, but thanks to the info on these boards we didn't even look at aft rooms when booking for next summer.

Obviously there's going to be cosmetic work done on one if not all the ships, and the Fantasy's issue with vibration has been planned to be addressed I just think the Pandemic moved the timeline for it up. But the conventional wisdom is that primarily the reason all the ships are wet/dry docking in France is to make changes to all the ships to accommodate the pre-destined mandated Covid-19 safety protocols that the CLIA has outlined and ones they're expecting the CDC to impose once the lines resume sailing, ie. removing the buffet in Cabanas to convert it to cafeteria style service by the crew, taking out any self service food/drink kiosks or stations (goodbye Eye Scream) reconfiguring/installing updated HVAC air handling/filtering equipment, rearranging seating through out the ship in common areas to allow for better social distancing (MDR's, bars, possibly theaters and kids clubs) and probably most definitely installing dozens of hand sanitizing stations through out the ship. They might also be configuring a select number of guest staterooms to be converted into isolation/quarantine spaces and beefing up the medical facilities with new or better equipment to treat any potential sickness on board. Getting this work down now is vital to be prepared for the eventual resumption of operations at some point in the near future.
