2018 Watch: All 2018 Itineraries are announced as of May 11th, 2017!

I'm wondering if the change to when people can book is more of a benefit to DCL than return cruises. It should spread out the phone calls more so hopefully the wait times won't be as long.

I'm just thrilled to (finally) have a special benefit for being platinum and having that extra day's lead.

I'm glad we have no plans to book anything next release... I'm curious to see if there is any discernable difference for us lowly golds! ;)

So we will be on our first DCL cruise when they have historically released schedules in the past. Does that mean we are considered silver or plastic still?

Yeah, @MSPeeler I feel the same! We'd really like to know about the West Bound Transatlantic
This is what I'm waiting for! No matter where it starts or ends, I'm booking it. Being only silver (this will be our 4th DCL cruise) we have to wait until the third day now instead of second day. I'm not sure if this is an advantage or not. Hopefully I get what I requested from the TA. Hoping the itineraries are out next week!! :woohoo:

I think I'm likely to book that as well! It will either be the WBTA or EBPC. Fingers crossed the prices haven't hiked too much.

We've never booked opening day. Roughly estimating , what can I expect the savings on booking opening day vs 6 months later? For example, an inside stateroom Cat 11A for September 2018 adult is $1,295. I certainly understand that it all depends on the type and location of your room and time of cruising, but I really am hoping that somebody who has done multiple previous cruises in the past will be able to give me an example of the savings... I'm trying my best to talk my in-laws into booking on opening day and they just aren't sold on it yet LOL!

If in doubt book the first day and cancel later. Pricing can escalate quickly or the cruise can sell out, if it's a popular cruise.

It really does depend on when you're going. Holiday times and popular sailings tend to fill up quicker, and with that comes price increases. I believe you can poke around on cruisefish to see how prices have changed since opening day.

If it were me, I'd probably just book for them if you can afford their deposit. You can always cancel later if they decide against it. I've done that for my parents before (and not told them) just because I knew that they couldn't wrap their head around booking so early.

I would 2nd Pillows comment to book if one can afford the deposit as close to opening day as possible for you can always change your mind later (watch well prior to PIF) but the early booking "discounts" on a popular/sold out sailings you will not get booking later. If an off-season or less popular sailing and one can stomach waiting out a possible GT opportunity for unbooked cabins, those prices could be close.

Using the below link for the WBTA for this year, an 11A went from $2524 for 2 adults up to $3052 in less than 6 months (or a 25% increase).

Thank you all! :) I can handle the full deposit, the problem would be that if they wanted to cancel, I have 3 kids and one of them would be staying in the room with my in-laws for the less expensive inside cabin vs the required 5 person room :cutie:

We are getting together this weekend. I will mention paying the deposit and they can just pay us back in small increments if needed. I think they will be ok with that! Thanks again!

A suggestion would be to book all 5 of you in your room and ALSO 3 in your in law's room. That way, if they do have to cancel, you aren't stuck without a space for your 3rd child. You can always cancel person #5 in your room close to your PIF date if everything works out with them. You can just pick any random person for the "extra". You'll either be dropping it or name changing to kid #3 anyway. Hope that makes sense.

I think I understand what you are saying, but we aren't able to fit [book] a 5th person into the [first] Inside Stateroom, even the Deluxe it look like. Since that's the cabin type my in-laws are willing to pay for, and we need connecting rooms, I guess that's what we would be stuck with. I'm sure it will all work out!

I'm getting ready to book my very first cruise as soon as dates are released (A 4 day Very Merrytime cruise in early December is my plan)!!!

I'm so excited about dates being released and finally booking it. My poor husband doesn't understand my level of excitement since the cruise itself is still so far away, but has to constantly listen to me and my planning.

Keep in mind that if you need to change your reservation to a different room type, you will still be locked in at the prices that were in place when you originally booked. So, if you book two connecting insides on opening day, but then have to change to a room that holds 5, that room will still only cost you the opening day price. However, of course this depends on availability. And if you change to a different cruise, you lose your opening day pricing, too.

We currently have a three night booked but want to change that to a 7 night when October opens up. It was a placeholder, so it comes with OBB and the 10% off...can we change that on our silver day online, or is that done via the phone? And that will still come with the 10% off and OBB?
