:smickey::smickey: So merchandise has been released and I don't really see any theme this year except a sorcer Mickey is this due to MK 45th and EPCOT 20th? Any thoughts or speculation?

MK turned 45 last year & later this year will be Epcot's 35th. I don't think either of those are playing into the merchandise you see right now.

Sorcerer Mickey also appeared last year... and the year before that... and... you get the idea. :)

If there is a theme, I have no idea what it could be from looking at what's currently available.

Not sure of the answer to your question but Epcot is actually 34 years old.
And you are right I am a disneydork.....please ignore the disneydorks statement in her original post about EPCOT being 20. I know what it was it was my want to be 20 again transferring it to EPCOT! :rolleyes1On the flip side I should be proud of my 46 it means I can celebrate the 45th with the Magic Kingdom!!!pixiedust: Back to the originally scheduled question on the merchandise theme? :upsidedow:upsidedow

Yeh, I only knew about Epcot bc my DH is going back to Disney this year. Last time he went: the year Epcot opened. So I had previously looked it up. :surfweb:

I saw some vlogs about the merch and there was a common thread that was fantasia (again) but this time it was mixed with more space so that might be a play on pandora opening and being a distant planet..

Now when I go into the parks and look at it myself, I don't get that sense.. What I am loving is this almost retro and 1 off themes they have been doing hte last year for stuff. It's almost like they hired a bunch of startup minded creative team for merchandise that are approaching swag like a tech startup does. Basically take an idea, run with it and make it somethign you'd want to wear.. There has been more clothing that I've wanted to get and wear than any other time.

Bryan I agree that the retro stuff is cool, but so much of the other stuff looks awful to me. Of course being a 60+ dude I'm certainly not their target, but a lot of that stuff wouldn't look good on an 11 yr. old.

I work for a startup and millennials are spending a lot towards what we would call retro when it comes to swag and clothing. I think disney is smart going after these young adults who think they have much more money then they do on impulse spending. it also brings in styles the rest of us miss so win win.
